New point of presence in Warsaw is now live 🙌 For our customers in Eastern Europe, that means better access and lower latency to local access networks. It also serves as a backup route for our C-Lion1 submarine cable connection.

We're testing an LLM inference API. It offers a few open-weight models, free to use and come with no SLAs. Try your own use cases and tell us what works and what doesn't. Your feedback can shape what we build next.
No promises that this becomes a permanent product, but that's exactly what an experiment is all about 🙌

Today is the day if you're also celebrating #SysAdminDay at the office today, maybe trade the hug for a coffee and a sincere "thank you."
Shoutout to the people who turn it off and on again on a professional level!

Fair point, a VPS is still a box in someone's in this case our data center, we won't pretend otherwise 😄 But the whole point is about control and exit. With root access you own your data and config and can move the whole thing to another host or even to a server under your desk whenever you like. That portability is what GitHub doesn't give you. And we basically mentioned that you can host it on our VPS, that's it 😁 -Lea

Every GitHub outage is a small reminder that your workflow lives on someone else's infrastructure.
In this tutorial we walk through setting it up on a Hetzner Cloud server, from spinning up the instance to a working forge you can push to.
The full walkthrough: https://htznr.li/tkktrl
If you're already self-hosting Forgejo on Hetzner, curious which instance size you settled on.

Our Hetzner Blog is online now!
We’ve wanted a place to write up the things we find interesting about running infrastructure, and to explain the basics for people just getting into hosting and server administration.
We’re only scratching the surface so far. What should we write about next? We’d love to hear what you think.

For the hardware nerds among you: Here’s a little challenge. Based on this photo, how many of our ES servers do you think fit on top of each other in one of our self-designed racks? 🤔

We don't have a reference design for this setup yet, but this should technically be possible using cloud servers and using a vSwitch to connect them with our dedicated servers. Would you be interested in giving it a try and share your findings as a community tutorial? (https://community.hetzner.com/tutorials) -Lea

Some of you might remember that we kicked off our Mastodon journey with a big giveaway. Last week, the winner finally came to Falkenstein for their prize: a behind-the-scenes tour of our data center park, a quick server assembly, and plenty of insights from the team. We captured a few moments to share with you here.

Did you know that all of our data centers operate on 100% green electricity? 🤔
With our self-developed designs for data centers, servers, custom racks, and precision-engineered cooling systems, we’re minimizing thermal loss and optimizing our power usage efficiency (PUE) — delivering lower operational costs and a reduced environmental footprint. Believe it or not, but some of our data centers have a PUE of 1,1!

If there’s a technical issue or outage on our end, we’re definitely here to help. But when it comes to installing / troubleshooting software, that part’s up to you. You can find lots of helpful info online, including our forum, where our customers share tips & advice: https://forum.hetzner.com/ -Lea
