Friend of mine back in early 80s who worked at a body shop bought a 79 formula with the 403 olds. I worked at a performance garage. He Promptly tore that out and put a 400 pontiac in it then another. He then put a small block chevy in it but the last engine was an l71 corvette 427. It had the biggest hyd cam crane made with the bleed down Rhodes lifters, the twisted open plenum edelbrock intake with an 800 holley. He bought a brand new m22 4 speed and it had a 12 bolt with a 456.
The car was lowered in front and jacked up in the rear with something like 295 60s and the hood had a triangular hole for the foam weind aircleaner sticking out of the hood which was pin stripped and painted.
That car was worthless on the street untill 3rd gear then it would haul ass. It ran an 11.97 at the strip with slicks but at allmost 120 mph. No weight transfer from the front springs and poor traction but it was for the time a brutally fast street car from a roll.
Later he sold it to my girlfriend at the time after we put a 350 turbo 350 10 bolt in it.
