I think ultimately the problem with the culture of bluesky, beyond whatever technical/protocol problems that interest all the foss nerds on here, is that it's ultimately an extremely US-dominated website, and while it's obviously all made up of people who Hate Trump, which is why they're there instead of on X, it does allow a certain chauvinism to curdle without them realizing it, especially when a lot of its users are racist liberals who are primarily angry with Trump because he took away their ability to see the US as a Force for Good that it never was

I'm very critical of AMLO, but organized crime didn't metastasize under his abrazos no balazos strategy, it had already done so under previous administrations. And it's not that organized crime has a special relationship with Morena, as implied in the last section, but that they'll pact with any government, whether PRI, PAN, MC or Morena. They do it with Morena now because they're in power, but they'll switch in a second if the opposition wins

One thing that a lot of cis people don't get about trans people is that, while it's true that there are a lot of us who have relatively comfortable lives, that that could also all end in an instant. We're not people who get second and third chances, and when we fall we fall all the way. I know trans women who, just a couple years ago were editing major news websites, but when they lost that job, ended up working the corner. And nothing against the corner, because it's always there to accept us when no one else will. But don't act surprise if you come for a trans woman's job or reputation and she fights back with teeth bared. We know what the stakes are

@npub19fc…ay3c I also think that, like streaming services, the convenience of having so much available at your fingertips makes people forget just how much *isn't* there
And it's not that I don't use ebooks, I use them a lot! Especially because international shipping costs are pretty high, they're a lifesaver. But most electronic libraries lack depth, while a good physical library will have books going back maybe a hundred years, and a lot of the interesting stuff you find in some book no one's checked out since the seventies
