My system wakes up from sleep slightly faster. Cool, I guess. Wish I could actually use it without suffering a catastrophic failure.
I do think it would be lovely for something to replace X11. I just don't think Wayland is doing a very good job and people are giving it waaaay too much credit. Wayland is great when it behaves and I forget I'm using it but it is always doing something to remind me that I am on Wayland. I just don't think it's ready for the front lines yet. Putting it up front when it is not ready does not help bring people into the ecosystem.
Just to clarify on my choice of words: I didn't actually believe you were forcing users to do anything. It's just when you make something else default and drop support for the legacy, that's how it can be perceived. M$ didn't force anyone to upgrade windows either, they just dropped support for it. If you tell someone M$ forced you to upgrade, they will not argue with you.

Why force your users into a boat full of leaks? Wayland is awful. I can't even idle on my desktop without my system getting hot for no reason and freezing. Half my context menus stay open and "keep on top" doesn't work for any window.
You know what doesn't work on X11? Nothing. Everything works and nothing ruins my productivity. I'm not terrified of potentially losing my work because of a sudden driver crash.

Which sucks because Wayland is certainly not mature enough to replace X11...
I tried giving Wayland another shot just last week and had my first driver crash on this system after a context menu in steam would not close. Then afterwards would crash immediately upon login.
The only time I have problems with X11 is when I deliberately create them. Sure it might 'suck' more and isn't 'modern' but it also doesn't fail catastrophically on a regular basis.

Same in my riding. The being an asshole platform worked out really well for them.
My neighborhood was already full of assholes but now they're all lunatics from covid. Most of them still haven't forgiven Trudeau for taking their overpriced beer and hockey away due to plague.
And they're all voting out of fear of some invented phobic boogie man. None of them actually have any fucking clue what is going on. You might hear of of them go "Trudeau ruined the economy" but can't name one fucking thing PP apparently has planed other than "He gonna fix it".
I might not be in agreement with the liberals on some things but hey, at least they have an actual, tangible platform other than "Queers suck."
