going to send the gloves back, but that's just the fit. Boots seem really solid, and also got an armoured shirt for summer slow rides, which feels as well made as any I've looked at but for a much nicer price! Tempted to order some jeans or cargo pants too

Oooh, new bike gear due to arrive in the next few hours. Might even be able to sneak out for a quick ride in it!
Ordered boots, gloves and a shirt form texspeed... crazy cheap but apparently their quality is good. Going to reserve judgement until I see it, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I got a Bambu A1 Mini last year and it's been excellent. I'd probably choose the A1 over the mini now. Bambu get a bit of a bad rep from the open build crowd, but I just wanted something that works with minimal fuss and it's not disappointed

I use an M2 MacbookAir for development. Stupidly, I though 256GB for work would be fine, afterall I don't use a lot of extra software, I develop some light weight native apps and a web app. Yet somehow, my disk space is constantly fluctuating by around 40-50GB because of macOS and/or Xcode. I currently can't build for my iPhone without downloading support which requires more disk space than I have.
Last week I had ~50GB free. Modern proprietary operating systems suck. #macos

Yeah, it's the fact it's dragged on so much is what concerns me most. I do wonder if that new X server written in Zig might end up being the answer!

I do think it's a prime time for getting more people running Linux, but what's bugging the hell out of me is the sense that Wayland still feels like it's not quite where it should be (wherever that is) but X11 is essentially unsupported.
Also, even as someone who's used many distros on and off since the late 90s I still don't know what I want from a distro. Currently on Arch but the rolling nature is starting to get annoynig.

FWIW don't get a Samsung. We got a new one a couple of years ago and one of the supports inside the drum broke last year just out of warranty. Managed to get them to fix it anyway, but it broke again!
Definitely going back to AEG next time.

What do you use for hosting? I use Netlify atm because it's something I set up years ago and I like being able to quickly updated from basically anywhere (not that I do much). Been thinking of self-hosting recently though

I tend to turn off a lot of notifications. My screen time isn't terrible, but it's directly proportional to the diffculty of the New York Times crossword each day.
I know what you mean about the pangs though - I catch myself reaching for it "just because" and then try and avoid it.

Fired up my old Nokia 8 (TA-1052) which still works, and tried to get WhatsApp back up and running. Latest backup it could find was from Nov 22.
Bought a Pixel 9a, that found a backup from 4 days ago. Why? Assume it's to do with out of date Google Services on the old phone, but still, why? No support for newer encryption?

Phone died out of the blue while I was using it this morning. Not much point in Pixel phones having 7 years of security updates when the hardware only lasts half of that.
