This is what brings me #hope. We already have solutions, now we can try to live them locally and demand them on political level.
At the moment, the backlash to fascist death cults may seem to be overwhelming, but the number of people who want a positive change grows from day to day. I see politicians thinking about #taxTheRich who would never had this idea before. But we must become louder for the good!

I once starred with open mouth at the nail/screw/metallic pieces collection in the archives of our museum (farmlife of the beginning 20th c.). Drawers from the floor to the ceiling with thousands of pieces. We need them for conservation and repair of historic pieces - it's impossible to get the correct pieces nowadays. Everytime, a very old barn is emptied, our specialist comes to search for useful pieces.

In apple trees, the common European species hunts for the apple worm of Cydia pomonella. And they decimate lice and aphids very well. I always place them on my roses.

Growing up in Germany, eggs had so many colours but rarely white. Farmers even changed the food to get more coloured eggs e.g. by feeding cockchafers. On Easter, people searched for white ones for easier colouring.
Questions of health depended on industrial farming = bad or free roaming 'happy' hen of small farms = good. You couldn't see that difference in the colour, but often in the shell quality.

I’ll never forget those eyes: At our #museum animation, a five-year-old girl watched me #embroidering - shyly from a distance. I encouraged her to come and have a closer look. As she came curiously, I let her feel my fabric: ‘Look, I’m embroidering #moss! It’s knobbly like real moss.’
Her eyes in her happy face were the very picture of awe and curiosity about #nature and #embroidery. Her Grandpa: 'Can we come again?!' That's what many of our visitors do.

Try to learn some #VisibleMending ! It's simple, it's fun, and you become the designer of your individual style (nothing disheveled)!
You can nearly endlessly use such #mendings and when the piece falls apart, cut it in scraps for becoming a patch for something else ... or bind several pieces to make an #artjournal!
#SlowFashion and #repair mustn't be ugly. It's creative and connects people eg by patch swaps.

Interesting essay.
Do we need to label everything?
Living in Europe, my first contact to solarpunk/hopepunk was when publishers promoted it already as a marketing label aka genre for certain books. Working with books, I knew that these labels were only trends, made for better profit.
I was quickly astonished that I found more fanfiction and texts with that big patronising, even preaching tone instead of being real literature.

🧵 People often ask me, how they could test, if they like #stitching without having learnt #embroidery. I recommend #intuitiveStitching, it's like #doodles with a needle and you see quick success. If you like it, you then can start to learn simple stitches. Just be wild and play like a child!

🧵 This yellow paper was dyed with an extremely stinky plant dye from our museum garden (Rubia tinctorum: never again! Smelled like an animal corpse).
And you can clearly see that I waited for a hospital appointment to find out if my meniscus has been exploded. Luckily, it’s still sitting nicely in place, I'm not a corpse yet, and I’ve gained a new page for my project! 🤭 😁

I would like to add 3. Real human moderators. Only this week, I had to report several guys for harassment, hate, and one scraping our data. It took only a short time, they were gone.
But at the same time it's one of the weakest points (Mastodon is constantly working on it) because offenders change to instances without moderation, blocks are not real blocks, they can do bad things you don't see. Many write their hate by PM: it's hidden. They act with screenshots. It's a big problem.

Some other nice tale: Thanks to our Baroque mini-Versailles (in Germany near the French-German border) and a French teacher at school, we learnt for two years *everything* about the French Revolution, we read every important source text from that time. And thanks to the castle we could really imagine all these stories.

I understand your feelings. It's cultural and historical heritage for us, would be even a war crime to destroy it in a war. A place/museum for learning from history. And great as a background for films which brings money for the towns. A protected park where no-one ever could build a data centre. It belongs to the state/people. Not to billionairs.

I grew up in a Baroque town with a pig-rosy (smaller) "copy" of Versailles. As small kids already, we played in the court. Hippies made (illegal) parties in the park. Later we used it at school for the breaks. It was so much everyday life that it was like a neighbour's barn. 🤭
It took years and a different landscape to learn how much my artistic imagination was influenced by the collections inside and all that space we had. That privilege of the nobles at that time ...

I just #reported a very cheesy account, completely AI generated (also the comments). They wanted to collect people's #DNA (and you had to pay 20 something $ for it!). it was intended to give the impression being something official from the EU. At best, it was a scam; at worst, extremely dangerous.
It took only minutes and the account was pulverised. 😊 This service you don't get on big platforms!

You know, I don't need a billion dollars to get creative (poor artists know how to do that 😉 ) and most of my visions wouldn't be expensive. First a global #taxTheRich regulation and better #socialJustice. Mud fight theatres for political leaders who want to make war. Starting a war will be fined with livelong work in waste recycling. I remember hanging eggs on them in my childhood. Since climate change, they bloom much earlier than even an early Easter in Alsace. Only this year we have luck because the cold with minus degrees conserved them.

I’m struggling with asking for some help, I feel terrible to do so.
But winter is dragging on longer than I’d hoped; we’re still having sub-zero temperatures. With someone in my care and myself in a waiting lists for therapy against my pain, I haven’t been able to work. What I’m suffering from is called ‘energy poverty’: the bills!

That's not easy: for candying while retaining their shape and nearly original colours, you need sugar.
If it's allowed that they get a bit thicker and the colour may change: make a fruit (must) concentrate (like syrup) and dip them quickly in the syrup (best with tweezers), let the coating dry, and repeat this process 3–4 times in total. For me, standing outside the system and being a layperson in matters of #taxonomy, especially these examples are an expression of #hubris, of pure #anthropocentrism.
I tend to view this from a philosophical perspective and am appalled by the image of #nature that such researchers may have. We could learn so much from indigenous researchers in matters of respect and appreciation of other species.
And no, these beetles-namers don't have to carry on traditions like that.

It reminds me of my volunteering in a cultural heritage center. And an exhibition about nature traditions: https://www.cronenburg.net/magic/

In my view, this gives
