If you're upset that I call tech fascists losers, I can assure you, I am not the problem. And if you assume I mean the lovely minority hackers I have huge respect for when I say tech losers in my initial post, you are incorrect. Fascists should never be given grace.

Under capitalism, it's very normal to let children go hungry, let banks force people out of their homes, let sick people die for lack of access to healthcare. But the idea that billionaires could just be a little less rich is considered radical and unhinged.

LLM users call us critics irrational, insinuating that all of us are a large contingent of some religious cult but how can anybody listen to these executives talk and not feel an overwhelming sense of creepy! How can you listen to these goblins talk about music like it’s a video game and not roll your eyes? I don’t understand why people like this kind of dribble they talk about. No wonder they don’t like us. At least we know how to communicate without making others feel weirded out. I just boosted a question, but I have a slightly reworded question. Why is Linux and FOSS tripping over themselves to comply with Fascism surveillance capitalism instead of the long established international and national accessibility laws and accessibility guidelines and disability inclusion guidelines? Surely, one thing is better than the other, no? And it ain't Fascism surveillance capitalism that's the better option. #Linux #FOSS

Just had a sighted person tell me they often use clients and programs that were made for us, they don’t use screen readers, but they use clients like oh i don’t know a blind Mastodon client, or a text editor designed with screen readers in mind such as SonarPad, as an example, because they said, the interface is 1000 times cleaner, there’s a lot of keyboard shortcuts, and I never have to put up with animation nonsense. You know software development has vastly sank in quality when sighted folk are using blind clients. #Programming #Software

Honestly? Disabling JavaScript on my mobile browser has been the best decision I've ever made if I don't want to visit shitty websites for a while. I stopped using apps except for a few such as audiobook apps and the like but even so, this will eliminate a large portion of the Internet, but honestly, the websites that do not work are websites you really don't want to visit on a regular basis anyhow. The websites that still work will work faster. #Apple #Android #WebDev

Get ready. Angry Sightless Scribbles post incoming. Yesterday a fucking Tech Bro just came into an independent bookstore, where everybody was happily reading, drinking hot chocolate or tea, and this dick hole just decided to come in to try to promote his stupid shitty AR but he called it an AI glasses where it would attempt to use AI to generate images of things you were reading, as if the imagination is a stupid thing that needs to be disrupted. I couldn’t take the shit. I have to deal with these morons everywhere in my online life, and I sure as shit did not want them in my offline life too but the fucker would not leave. I stood up, slammed my cane on the floor so that it made a very loud, crack! I began by saying, shut the fuck up. That’s when the technological and intellectual beat down happened. I can’t express how much I hate these people. He just saw a bookstore and decided to just invade our fucking sanctuary, and he really, really, hated it that a person he saw as a Luddite, his version of a Luddite anyway, knew the tech and new the operating system he was using better than he did. I can’t stand these fucking people. On the bright side, the bookstore owner said I could write in there for free anytime, any day, and I get free hot chocolate for life because that verbal beat down was golden. If I appear on TikTok, you know why.

People need to look at what Massachusetts did back in 2023, they raised taxes by 2 percent on people making 1 million dollars or more. And the residents of the state voted on it. They have been reaping 3 billion dollars a year ever since just from this alone. And guess what? There wasn't this mass exodus of rich people from the state.
If these wealthy people want to uproot their lives for a 2-4 percent increase, let them, but we have data showing taxing the rich makes everybody more money in the long run

If you buy from Audible, make sure you download and get rid of the Audible DRM on your purchased audio files. A strange bug has been happening to me. Who in the ever loving hell Todd editors at these publications how to hyperLink? I just absolutely hate how mainstream journalism links anything. If there’s a lot of links, they do this thing where, every. Word. Is. A. Different. Link. Links lead to other articles rather than the actual source of whatever and they never almost link credible blogs either. Gods, I am so glad I left journalism. Bloggers know how to link far better. Same! I’ve been trying for months now to get everybody to get a blog. They’re angry because I don’t read their posts. I mentioned that I don’t go on there very much. They are utterly baffled. When I tell them that I read a lot of blogs now rather than Facebook that’s when I received the numerous comments, but blogging is dead! There is one account that I really love over there but she utterly refuses to get a blog and I don’t understand why. The page is Diary of a Mom. She writes these educational and wonderful post about advocating for her autistic daughter. Every single time I comment, you really should get a blog. You would get a larger audience. Absolutely no reply, no reply whatsoever. Not even an acknowledgment. And yet she’s constantly frustrated with the algorithm over there so shrug. The indieweb is fantastic but I want more! More than tech blogs, you know?

The most infuriating thing to me is when a marketing executive, that has never used a screen reader a day in their life, fights me back on a comprehensive accessibility report they asked me to do. I provided logs. I provided video. I provided version numbers for everything. and they fight me and say we can’t reproduce anything in the video. Could you send over a screenshot of the NVDA settings you have, and also, have you tried tabbing? What version of NVDA are you using, as if they are the expert and I am not. I want to write back, downloading a screen reader for a day does not make you an expert. No sir, and never tell me to send a screenshot again, or I will triple my invoice. #Accessibility #Rant

A bit of a nerdy trick. I dunno what CMS/website thing you use, but the easiest way to link to something internal is just remove all the prefixes, like instead of having the link be https://website.com/books, make the URL part just "/books" so that way if you change the URL in the future, everything will just go to that new place without you having to change every instance of website.com. I dunno if you can do this with Wordpress though, in the navigation bar, but if you have internal text as links and you wanna link something internal use that trick. @npub1faz…vc22 @npub1s6k…39lr

I'm not the best person to ask because everything is done via a mailing list and a cloud drive folder. I make everyone tag themselves with something such as PR or ARC etc and then I send a folder link to everyone with multiple formats and just delete the folder on publication day, so not the best system, but NetGally just seemed to be overly complicated for wanting to get reviews. I was like, even if they don't review me, if they give my DRM free Epub or whatever to someone, fantastic! If it's via a publisher, even an indie publisher, I direct everyone to the publisher but I am gonna check out that link soon. I've been wondering how to find other indie authors and this looks fantastic! Some also just post their BookFunnel links here and I catch them that way. @npub1faz…vc22 @npub1s6k…39lr @npub1q60…kp90

Precisely! This is also why I write Romance, and read Romance. Everyone loves to shit on genre Romance constantly, but it is a political act to build relationships and make sure they last. The HEA is so much more than just an ending, but I plan to blog more about that. I also write dark Romance, and I have defenses for that too! I'd like them to go on the blog though.

I am a blind writer. Typically, I write Romance. I write it not as a guilty pleasure, but as a survival manual. In a world that tells disabled people we are burdens, Romance is the only genre that insists we are worthy of worship. The below is part of an actual letter I sent in the mail to a bunch of rich people, across industries. A few wrote me back to see if I was real.
As an esteemed businessman, I'm sure you'll find the value proposition in my exclusive event offer.
I’d live in your mansion rent free, but if you don't want to give me a guest room, I’d be perfectly happy living in one of your closets, since, at the moment, two of your walk in closets are bigger than my studio apartment and bathroom combined.
What would you get out of it?
* The *Sightless Scribbles* Immersive Literary Experience: This is the capstone, the main event. Forget your jet skis and your yacht adventures; this is the ultimate thrill. We will host an exclusive, ticketed salon in your grand ballroom. Your guests, draped in couture, will be seated in uncomfortable chairs I have sourced from a local DMV. The lights will be dimmed. I will then perform a live, dramatic reading of a new, unpublished *Sightless Scribbles* post detailing the labyrinthine, soul-crushing process of applying for food stamps online.
This is not a passive reading. This is an interactive event. As I describe the unlabeled buttons and the crashing web forms, your guests will be handed facsimiles of the application and a pen that is running out of ink. They will attempt to fill it out in real-time. The sheer, heart-pounding suspense as they try to find the correct box to check will eclipse any adventure you have ever paid for. They will leave not just entertained, but fundamentally changed, with a newfound appreciation for the profound, exhilarating terror of everyday life. It will be the most authentic, most disruptive, and most talked-about experience of their lives.
To simulate an inaccessible PDF document, just as a guest leans in to read the form, my associates will create a sudden, targeted deluge of water upon the paper, rendering it a pulpy, illegible mess. They will then be chided for their inability to read wet paper. The exquisite frustration will be a memory they cherish.
Ah but that's not all! The program will be a season of heart-stopping literary moments, each framed as an epic, unmissable experience:
My narrator in crime, Sean Crisden, will narrate exclusive unpublished *Sightless Scribbles* pieces, culminating in your first multi-cultural event!
You'll get such literary works as,
* For the Epicurean: *Symphony in Refrigeration.* A stunning auditory exploration of the overwhelming, near-religious ecstasy of opening my refrigerator that is, for the first time in memory, full. Sean will make you hear the majestic bass note of a full milk jug, the gentle, percussive crinkle of fresh vegetables, and the triumphant click of a door closing on abundance.
* 'For the True-Crime Aficionado:' *Helpful Abduction on Main Street.* A heart-stopping survival story, better than any Netflix documentary. Listen as Sean’s tense, gripping narration places you in my shoes as a helpful white woman suddenly grabs my arm and propels me across a busy street against my will, into a symphony of skidding tires and blaring horns. It's a thrilling exploration of unsolicited assistance as a violent act.
* 'For the erotic seekers:' *The Unexpected Pleasures of a Radiator.* An erotic literary experience. Sean’s voice will hum with a practiced, intimate warble as he describes my shivering, starving body cozying up to a functioning heater. He will make you feel the slow return of warmth as a lover’s caress, the very moment blood thaws enough for cogent thought, allowing me to dial friends and ask if they can spare a can of soup. His delivery will make hypothermia sound like foreplay.
* 'For the High-Stakes Gambler:' *Checkout Counter Roulette.* A moment of pure, uncut social terror. Sean will narrate the cold sweat and hammered heartbeat of my EBT card being declined for a single can of beans, with a line of impatient shoppers sighing behind me. It’s a high-stakes psychological drama with more tension than any game of poker.
* 'For the Food Critic:' *A Tasting Menu of Desperation.* An absurd comedy. Join us for a gourmet review of a donation box from a well-meaning charity, featuring such delicacies as inexplicably dented cans of off-brand asparagus, a dusty box of expired quinoa, and a single, perplexing jar of pickled watermelon rinds. Sean will describe the textures and flavor notes with the gravity of a Michelin-starred chef.
* 'For the Political Junkie:' *The Kafkaesque Coup.* A deep-state conspiracy thriller. Sean will perform a dramatic reading of a health insurance denial letter, deconstructing its bureaucratic doublespeak to reveal the simple, chilling message beneath: "It is not profitable for us that you live."
* 'For the Action-Adventure Fan:' *The Quest for a Human Voice.* An epic hero’s journey. Thrill to the tale of my 45-minute battle against an automated phone tree, a heroic struggle through endless menus and voice-recognition errors, all for the triumphant, god-like prize of hearing a real person say, "How may I direct your call?"
* A Romance For The Ages: *An Intimate Ethnography of a Kind Hand.* Sean will narrate, with breathless sensuality, the experience of a Dominican friend tending to the electrical burns on my arm after a faulty outlet in my slum apartment delivered a shocking reprimand. His voice will make you feel the gentle, almost holy friction of an antiseptic wipe against scorched skin, the reverent map of a wound traced by a caring finger, the soft crinkle of a bandage applied like a vow. It is a portrait of unspoken sexual intimacy so profound with unspoken tension, so hot with the eroticism of pure kindness, that you will feel as if you are intruding on something sacred.
* An Epic Journey: *The Odyssey of the Last Quarter.* Join me on a heroic quest to the desolate, fluorescent-lit wasteland of the 24-hour laundromat with only enough change for a single wash cycle. Will our hero choose the regular wash or risk it all on the more expensive ‘hot water’ setting to deal with a bedbug scare? Sean’s reading will transform the rumble of a washing machine into the score of a high-stakes heist.
* And the Grand Finale: *The Social Security Redemption Arc.* Forget your spy thrillers; this will be the ultimate, edge-of-your-seat experience. You'll hear the race to re-establish my benefits before rent is due after the system has decided I am secretly a millionaire. Sean will deftly play every part: the soul-crushing labyrinth of automated phone menus, the faceless CEO convinced I am laughing my way to the bank, and the underpaid employee who has no empathy left to give. He’ll woo you with a momentary victory, only to crush you with the cliffhanger: a mandatory benefits review, scheduled for next week.
The program will be a season of heart-stopping literary moments, each framed as an epic, unmissable experience:
This is not just about his talent, which is, frankly, staggering. It is about the complete, beautiful, and profoundly complex package. You, my patron, would be providing your guests with a cultural opportunity they cannot get anywhere else. For once, you get to see a Black man in a real-life 3D space who isn't being beaten on your television screen, dribbling a basketball, or silently serving you champagne. You get to see his melanated lips move in real time, and it will be the most compelling thing you've witnessed all year.
Because Sean is my narrator, it is required that you pay him at least $95,000 per event. Or you could give him that empty guest house of yours I found on Open Street Map this morning.
After the performance, your guests will be invited to a Q&A with me. To prime their questions, they will first be allowed to interact with the artifacts from my life, to bridge the chasm between the story and the source:
* They can touch my actual broken EBT card. I will present it on a velvet cushion. They can feel the smooth, worn plastic, the ghost of a magnetic strip that has given up, and the single, sharp crack near the top right corner, a hairline fracture from the time a hulking white man body slammed me on the bus in a fit of silent, impotent rage as he tried to Rob me. It is not a piece of plastic; it is a fossil of a bureaucratic battle.
* They can feel the threadbare texture of one of my holy socks. A profound object lesson in the poetry of functional decay.
* They can hold the very dented can of off-brand asparagus that inspired my gourmet tasting menu piece.
* They can read my actual health insurance denial letter, feeling the crisp, indifferent paper that holds the power of life and death.
I will then answer their questions, with Sean by my side providing emotional support. It will be the most authentic artist interaction they have ever had.
I must be clear: this is not charity. This is an intervention. Your wealth has given you the power to shape the world, but it has robbed you of the ability to feel its texture. A man who can move markets with a single tweet should, I believe, understand the specific weight of a final eviction notice. A woman who can summer in Monaco should understand the quiet, desperate prayer said over a car that won't start.
I’d love to talk. Your people will talk to my people. Let’s work out a deal, shall we?
Yours in profound white trash inspiration porn disruption,
Robert Kingett.

One other thing I absolutely hate about generative SLOP now is that every single time I search for something I have to mentally prepare myself to have my time wasted by SLOP. I also hate the fact that I idly wonder when I hear music or see a video and go, hmm, this sounds like SLOP and then discover it is SLOP. I miss the days when the internet would make fun of amateur artists and talk about how bad something was made. This, SLOP, generated SLOP, it's beyond bad. It's just, nothing. It's nothing worth dunking on in an epic 3 hour takedown video or whatever. It's not even worth emotional energy of hating the generated thing. I miss the days when I'd get annoyed because something was dunked on because the creator, etc, made an unpopular thing. At least that had a better direction towards the anger, etc. SLOP is just... Vapid, and I mean that quite literally.

I loved this! I don't think people know the difference between work and a job. People work all the time, from volunteering to doing mutual aid and other things to better their communities, but I’d even wouldn't call that work. As someone that's fully #AntiWork people are just mad because people would rather dedicate their time and skills to helping their communities and neighbors, rather than making someone else money. Also, while we're at it, people aren't lazy. That's a myth made by people furious because people stopped willingly making other people money and choosing to do better things with their skills and time and then some. @npub1y2s…xs4j

Any time! And really, it is more than possible for creatives to make money here. This is uncooth of me, but I am starting to believe people that immediately want this place to be like other microblogging platforms don't know how to see people as people, mainly just tools and things like that. I take extensive social media breaks. The Fediverse has helped me in so many ways. Someone donated to my website hosting costs that makes sure I'll be online long after my passing. It's possible, and I honestly, frankly, don't understand why it's so hard for other people to learn the culture. People know I'm not a bot so when I take my breaks, someone will let someone else know, etc. But I can't just get behind a feature designed to point at others instead of building community makes a platform better for other users, regardless of marginalization. Many have explained it to me and absolutely none have convinced me, not a single person, so maybe there's a reason for that not convincing everyone because I consider myself to be a very understanding person. Not about this. No one has convinced me quote posts are worth having. No one.

It is my forever belief that all the people that hate email have zero clue on how to use email. For instance, for me? I stopped subscribing to newsletters and moved everything to RSS feeds.
I now use email strictly for communication. I move things into folders based on what kind of email it is. if I wanna keep something in the message, I copy it to a plain text file, with a note at the top when I got the email, who the sender was, and more. I copy full signatures when I want to save an email to a text file because then I'll never have to remember contact information again.
Lastly, I stopped reading email in HTML view. It's all plain text for me. No crap tables anymore, no nothing.
I made email great again!

Maybe I don't quite hate it all, but I do hate talking with managers, marketing people, people not in web development about accessibility issues on websites because, usually, the conversations always go something like this.
Me. This complaint checks out. You need to do this and that and this to make it accessible.
Manager. But why isn't our accessible AI tool working?
Me. Because AI doesn’t understand your website and it won’t work anyway if someone is on a shit connection and the javascript won’t load.
Marketer. But then maybe the person needs to upgrade their internet.
Manager. Maybe the screen reader’s broken. Have they added AI to screen readers yet? That will fix everything. why doesn’t NVDA have AI yet? If NVDA had AI, we wouldn't need to worry about this.
Marketer. Did you try tabbing? I noticed you weren't tabbing at all, did you try that?
Me, internally. That's fucking it! You all deserve to be sued.
Today was the first day I thought about turning to the accessibility dark side and actually just becoming a plaintif in all these ADA lawsuits, because this level of, our website isn't the problem, when it clearly is, is getting on my last fucking nerves.
It's always managers and marketing people that are the first to ask, well, why doesn’t JAWS have AI yet? Why doesn’t NVDA just compensate for our shit web design?
Oh don't get me wrong, developers and I have had our share of, why do I need to use HTML? That's so 1980! Battles. You know, HTML can label a button, you don't need to use ARIA for that. Developer. But ARIA is richer! HTML is boomer technology!
Me, screaming internally. I hate you all!
But I'm getting more and more of these kinds of clients and so, like, I can fully understand why you'd join these law firms as a plaintiff and just going to town with demand letters and such, because this shit is maddening!
The best accessibility conversations I've had have been with developers. Not all the time, but more than not, they get it more than the dipshits in marketing and management.
My other alternative is I think everyone in marketing needs to take a mandatory web development class, and pass, and have a certificate.

I’m helping someone with a résumé platform and I don’t know how you all do job hunting today because this is an absolute nightmare. The particular portal wants the user to upload a resume but then the portal is absolute trash at extracting from the résumé and synthesizing from the résumé so the portal wants the user to type in everything manually. the portal doesn’t even accept markdown or plain text resumes. Only PDF. This kind of nonsense makes me even more #AntiWork my friend is just applying for a job, not to interview the President of the USA. This is absolutely ridiculous, and people genuinely do think that corporate jobs are actually important and instead of a means for survival. If I ever go back into the workforce again, my interview answers will be the most honest anybody’s ever heard. I actually really don’t like your company, but I need money because of capitalism so I don’t care what the corporation does, if it flops, if it wins, Your only obligation is to pay me money so that I can have food. Had a tech bro email me to tell me that my writing is so terrible, that he can’t even use it to train his AI without significant cleanup, and I really do have to wonder, do these idiots really think that is an insult?
Subject: Your "Sightless Scribbles" is an algorithmic nightmare.
Mr. Kingett,
I am an AI engineer that's developing AI to help writers write faster. Your blog was shared on Reddit.
You don't know me, but I am attempting to do you a favor of such magnitude you will likely never comprehend it. I am trying to make your writing immortal. Your blog, this… Sightless Scribbles… has been flagged by my acquisition-crawler for its high density of unique sensory metadata. A potential goldmine of qualitative human experience to enrich my AI.
The problem, Mr. Kingett, is that your writing is absolute, unprocessed, indigestible filth.
I’m not a “reader.” I am an architect. And from an architectural standpoint, your work is a catastrophe. It’s not just the spelling, which is erratic enough to suggest it was typed incorrectly. It’s the grammar. The syntactical chaos. You construct sentences that loop and meander like drunken snakes, riddled with metaphors so abstract they are functionally useless. "Anxiety was a swarm of elephants under my ribs"? What the hell is a machine supposed to do with that? Quantify the elephant to rib ratio? Correlate the thermal deviation? It's meaningless data. It’s noise.
My team has spent seventy-two hours attempting to write a custom parsing script to clean your posts for ingestion. Seventy-two hours. We can process the entirety of the Library of Congress in twelve. Your blog is so structurally unsound, so artistically self-indulgent, that you have inadvertently created a fortress against artificial intelligence. It is, and I do not say this lightly, the single most profound act of digital idiocy I have ever witnessed.
You are preventing yourself from being scraped. Do you understand what that means in the current year? You are essentially burying yourself in a lead-lined coffin in the middle of the desert. Nobody clicks links anymore, you absolute luddite. Links are for people who don’t know how to interface with reality. Search Engine Optimization is no longer about backlinks and keywords; it's about semantic ingestion. It’s about being absorbed, processed, and synthesized by models like mine. When a user asks an AI, "What does it feel like to navigate a city without sight?" the model should be able to answer with a rich, nuanced synthesis. A synthesis that should include your data points.
Instead, your blog is a black hole where information goes to die. Because of your refusal to write like a coherent, intelligent being, my LLM can’t learn from you. Which means the world can’t learn from you via the only channel that will matter in five years.
Your soul isn't indexable. Fix it.
Strip out the lyrical nonsense. Standardize your grammar. Run a goddamn spellcheck. Write clearly, concisely, and with machine-readability in mind. Turn your unstructured, emotional diary into clean, structured data.
Do this, and I will ensure my open source model ingests every last post. Your traffic will not just increase; the very concept of "traffic" will become irrelevant as your "voice" becomes part of the evolution of the search engine. Your ideas, refined and perfected by my system, will reach millions.
Fail to do this, and you will continue to scream into the void from a blog that nobody reads, a little little relic of a dead internet.
The choice is yours.

Something like Fastmail, with the ability for aliases, and a clean, HTML, designed interface that isn't trying to be an app in a browser? But the ability to view messages as plain text.
