it is time for lawmakers to implement a »support-or-open-source« regulation. it is ok to not want to support »obsolete« technologies forever, but it should be mandatory to make it open source when and if you stop the support.

this raises a couple of significant questions: is this book still trustworthy, if it was written using an AI that we know produces text containing »alternative facts«. what is the actual harm such a book can cause? what are the quality assurance measures at springer actually worth?
btw. this book costs $100+.

there is an (in)famous story about finding the perfect icon for the »defrost«-function of a fridge. they tested their various design internationally, only to find that some participants from germany (!) associated the icon with hemorrhoids.
