So, I want to learn Kubernetes so I can better help provide advisory services to my clients. I have a pretty decent home lab (SAN, 3 VMware hosts) where I already host my Mastodon instance on Ubuntu. First step would be containerizing that instance to run on PhotonOS like I do with my other containers. But after that, I get into K8s. I have zero experience with K8s. This project sounds mad and overkill, but fun, maybe? Any tips from other admins or #selfhosted instances migrating to a container?

I also love how great Minneapolis’ metro system is. Two lines, one connecting downtown straight to the airport and beyond, and the other to the Amtrak station in St. Paul. Flying out this time but didn’t have to rent a car and just walked everywhere. Simple $2 fare, managed on a simple app. Milwaukee, take note and expand the Hop!

Well, I couldn’t do it. The Pettit Track was closed today for a speed skating event, and I was to do a 25K run today. Not having an alternate indoor location, I tried my hand outdoors in the 24 deg temp (6 deg with the wind chill.) It’s too damn cold, and I have to call it. Maybe next weekend! #running

I just went back to look, and viola, Apple can count again. Maybe a background task was triggered after I rebooted and I just checked too soon earlier. The enshitification of tech continues…

I did 5 months out of 6 of an F45 unlimited membership. I went 45 times, and then my work travel and first full marathon training schedule did not align with when I could go to the gym, hence falling off. I'm with you, WTL. At home is much more compatible, but I'm grateful for my time at the gym to help teach me form and build my confidence.

I am mildly infuriated that Apple cannot seem to count the number of days in my streak. I really wanted to get to 1000, but like, WTF? The math isn't mathing, here. We'll see what happens tomorrow...

Well, it finally happened. On my morning run, I tripped and fell on one of Milwaukee's uneven sidewalks. Scrapped up my knee pretty well, but it seems mostly a surface injury. Cleaned and bandaged it. There's some expected swelling. Hope I bounce back quickly after some rest! #running
