You’re probably right, 25% is a little aggressive. But I was coming from the angle that there’s not gonna be a big influx of transactions right away so 25% will not be that much for the overall transactions a merchant will have.

It hopefully gets better. But I tried 3 family members a few months back and none could sign up. I contacted support on 2 of them and got it working. Because it worked for me out the gate, I assumed it would for everyone else but that was not the case. I still offer a 5% discount and to help people get setup with Cashapp to pay with bitcoin. I believe in what they are doing and want it to succeed. I want to see all the cc companies burn to the ground. 😂

But the normie nonbitcoin crowd will need to use Cashapp to “pay with bitcoin.” Cashapp has a really cool feature where you send cash, they receive cash or bitcoin via the Bitcoin rails. If your not into bitcoin, your not gonna be able to do it any other way. Don’t get me wrong, I like what their doing and I’ve been selling what their doing since November. But they still have pain points for normies to get setup and if the normie has no reason to do it’s they won’t take the time to get it setup.

The merchants have been incentivized, now they have to incentivize their customers. I’m afraid customers have gotten use to the idea that they have to pay the fee to transact with a credit card, that the merchants don’t care anymore. I hate being told I have to pay 2% more (or whatever they want to charge) for the convenience of not using cash.
I’ve been offering a 5% discount for people to pay in bitcoin and promoted Cashapp as my payment of choice since January but still haven’t gotten a payment in bitcoin. I’ve had inquiries and conversations, but that’s it.

Probably turns out to be a nothingburger….but I’m excited about the idea. For the non-bitcoin crowd, it still falls back to a CashApp to Square transaction. They should also make all CashApp transactions run over Bitcoin rails and auto convert 75% to fiat and make the merchant change other 25% to fiat if they don’t Bitcoin like they are making the merchant turn off Bitcoin acceptance instead of allowing them to turn it on.

I haven't seen the Square dashboard so I can't confirm for sure. I'm wondering if maybe you have to default not to be added? I only have a few merchants in my area accepting bitcoin, but would be surprised to learn they took action to be added to the map.

Awesome Diyana, I’ve been doing the same thing. I’m thinking the BTCMap is an automatic add but could be wrong. I added myself to BitLocal
Map and was simultaneously added to the Cash App and BTCMap. I think they all are using the same date to update. I did a manual add because I’m not a Square merchant but use CashApp to accept bitcoin payments.

I’ve increased budget to unlimited on Alby Go. Where do you change the limit on Alby Hub? I did find a limitation on Alby Hub listing but it wasn’t exhausted. I tried to see you 5 sats and it still errored out and the budget still allowed for that amount.

A square board is not betting. It’s a 100% game of chance. The board is made up of a 10x10 grid. (100 squares). Your purchase gives you a square on the board. When all 100 squares have been purchased, then the squares are randomly assigned to each participant. After all squares are assigned, the numbers 0-9 are randomly assigned to the x and y axis of the board, as well as the teams get assigned, one to the x axis, one to the right axis. Then at the end of each quarter, the last digit in each score is used to find the winner. Here’s an example….
Say Q1 ends and the score is 10-8 and x has 10 and y has 8. You find the zero on the x axis, find the 8 on the y axis, and wherever they intersect is the winner. The board is published before game time so there’s no funny business. It makes the game more exciting to watch and usually I see people use it as fundraisers. So if they sold squares for $20 fiat, they’d keep 1/2 money for their cause (a softball team, a dance team, etc raising money for traveling expenses) and then give away the other half. Im doing it for fun. I’ll charge 10 sats per square to help cover routing fees, but other than that, I’ll pay all sats back out.
If interested, be sure and follow. It looks like there’s enough interest that I’ll do it.

Ok Nostriches, who wants to have another SuperBowl Square Game? If there’s interest, I’ll do it again. This would the the 4th Annual Nostr SuperBowl Square Board, so I’d like to keep it going. But I know my engagement has been down lately. I’ve been really busy with IRL issues, but I’m guessing we all have. Anyway, my node was off line for a week due to the recent ice storm here, but should be back in operation tomorrow. Here’s how it will go down if we play….each square is 15k, if we make 50 squares and can’t get all 100 sold, I’ll split the board and the 1st 50 will each get 2 for 1 squares and payouts will be based on 7500 buy in. I’ll make a second board assuming we get another 25 squares sold, if not, I’ll refund the squares for over 50.
I will charge 10 sats per square for routing fees. Other than that, all sats get paid out. I do this for fun; not for sats.
So, who wants to play? Super Bowl LX will take place on Feb. 8, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. ET, or 3:30 p.m. on the West Coast, where the Super Bowl will be held this year. @npub1ds3…hzcn I couldn’t withdraw the purchased bitcoin from the cashapp wallet. I did get assistance from CashApp support on the other wallet and someone “fixed something on their end” and that wallet is working now. I will reach out to support on the other wallet when I have time.
Don’t know what they fixed but wish I could get direct connection to whoever it was since this looks to be a problem with any non bitcoiner’s that will try to use this feature.
I know there’s a lot going on and I’m super pumped about the end result, but I sure hope the push some updates soon that fix this issue. I’m out here giving it everything I’ve got trying to get adoption in my area. 🤙🏻

So maybe it takes a few hours for everything to get activated and working. Please confirm if that’s the case. There’s also the problem of customer education. While it’s an easy task to explain to a store owner they can dramatically reduce processing fees, receive funds instantly, and have no threat of charge backs, you still need people to opt to pay in Bitcoin.
Unfortunately so many merchants have started passing the fee to the customer and the customer has accepted the additional costs.
I’ve taken the initiative to have these stickers printed and give them to merchants accepting ₿itcoin payments as a way to try and start a conversation with the customer. Because at the moment, that is the disconnect and unless merchant is a bitcoiner to begin with, they don’t really have the incentive to initiate the discussion.

I just tested it and looks like its works for me. (What I remembered). It says the minimum for a cash payment was a $1. Is it possible you tried with less than $1? I didn’t complete the transfer but got to this screen and no errors.

The cool thing is that Cash App removed one point of friction when they don’t have enough bitcoin, it will just pull from the cash balance or a connected bank account. At least that what happened to me when demoing a Square Terminal Lightning payment using Cash App. It didn’t even ask to select “pay from Bitcoin” or a “Cash Bal.” It just automatically pulled from a connected bank account.

Yes, I wish that Cash App would go ahead and get setup like Strike where the receiving wallet decides how to receive the payment. This would cut down on friction.
As for Cash App, they can still paste the Lightning Invoice into the Bitcoin Tab and pay with cash balance.

You are correct, I realized why I did it this way before seeing this. An invoice needs to be generated in Strike for it work. (Cash App pays a lightning invoice to Strike).
By using BTCPayserver, it allows my customer to create the invoice/QR code when they’re ready to pay their invoice.
If you are being paid in person, you could generate the QR code/invoice in Strike and let them pay using Cash App. Since I send out invoices each month with terms to pay by the 10th, that wouldn’t work for me.

This is my own instance of BTC Payserver on my personal node. I’m pretty sure you could receive directly to a Strike account wallet address and receive in BTC even if they sent cash. But Cash App hasn’t set that up yet. It would just be easier for Cash App to Cash App using the Cash App tags if they are already used to sending to your Cash App address.

Promoting the option of paying with ₿itcoin for my martial arts dojo. Staring in January 2026, every invoice will have a QR code that points to my personal Node running @npub155m…dcvg connected to my business @npub1ex7…vyt9 account, promoting payments via @npub1cas…dg5l.
It could just as easily be connected to my personal Lightning wallet if I wanted, but for now I want to teach others about easy options to get into ₿itcoin payments. 💪🏻

Nostr, which sign/sticker do you prefer. Thinking of 3”x3” stickers to place by POS registers and on entrance doors. I’ve been hitting it hard since Square made it so easy to accept. I’ve onboarded one merchant, talked with two more merchants, and send one of them some information. I have also been beating the bushes on Facebook groups. I’m gonna either get banned from them or get some conversions.
Oh and I’m gonna start collecting via Cashapp for my martial arts dojo. Idk if anyone will do it, but hoping to spur interest and possibly be able educate some people.
