also, something tickles me about using an m.2 drive for a bookmark. both everyone screeching about the price of hardware while you use one as a bookmark, but also your tendency to use non-technical solutions to what most use computers for nowadays (even having a paper computers page on the wiki) is then met with "i will use an m.2 drive for what would probably otherwise be a paper bookmark :neofox_evil:"

i keep seeing people praising china for allegedly phasing out coal or for growing renewables proportion of energy production
they also still rely on oil and coal for the vast majority of their energy¹, and still are responsible for an outsized share of coal power²
according to wikipedia, if we look at portion of power generated, palestine has the highest ratio (at 39.4%), though that represents 39 GWh. germany, spain, and australia are also far better off, since they're powering around 20% of their capacity with solar and are generating over 50 TWh each³

it's a privileged assumption that all computers and their configurations are that unobtrusive. i said this elsewhere:
"there are better ways of dealing with crawlers that dont force me to enable js and have my computer do proof of work every time i go to their website (i use disposable vms and vpns/tor so it really is every single time i go to a website, sometimes multiple times per session); not to mention that admins dont even update the thing
also i hate the scapegoat "ai companies have changed the social contract" while xe enthusiastically embraces those very same companies and ignores that theyre profiting off both sides"
