gf was $6k in debt when I met her, no college education, she had just made some incredibly naive decisions while in high school and racked up loans before she understood what she was doing
2 years of me managing her finances later and she is debt free
it's not a lot compared to the average american debt but it's still the first time in her adult life she's been free from financial burden and even if the relationship goes south I'm pretty happy that I've significantly improved her life
she also stopped smoking, doesn't cut herself anymore, and is no longer malnourished

They certainly weren't savages, so comparing their image to the 'noble savage' myth isn't quite right... but the same intention of uplifting the image of a foreign people in the mind of the westerner is there.

bushido is mostly a western romanticization
their armor and weapons were cool but they were typically not good people
stories of chivalrous samurai are popular *because* they were so rare
also they allowed women samurai which is cringe because they were effectively just there to service the men at night

Basically, with China experiencing unprecedented upward mobility, male children are seen as a family's ticket out of poverty and are taught from the moment they're born that they're better than their peers. They're taught to be sociopaths because Chinese understand that's a common trait in the wealthy, and their children must be willing to step on others to be successful. Competition's fierce.
So no, the idea that this behavior must be corrected is fundamentally incorrect. It is taught and expected. Which should be extremely concerning considering China's future global position, and the types of people who will be in seats of power.

BIG UPDATE
Employees from major music studio YAB, which frequently works with Nijisanji, have been accused of photographing the girls without their knowledge. Nijisanji itself seems to have confirmed this by issuing a thesis-long legal statement that anyone implying Nijisanji's involvement (instead of YAB's) will be prosecuted.
What the whistleblower also accused YAB of was drugging and raping some of the girls. There's no hard evidence of this, though there is enough circumstantial evidence to warrant an investigation. Japs are saying the girl's drinks were likely spiked with MDMA, which is a known thing in the Japanese music industry. There's the question of how YAB could have recorded their faces and bodies without the girl being intoxicated. Nijisanji's statement also included an accusation of "illegal physical force", which would describe rape in a courtroom setting.
Niji does come off as a victim here, and YAB has likely done this to others as well. They're a mainstream multimillion dollar studio. What no one seems to be talking about is the fact that if the whistleblower hadn't come out, Nijisanji and others would've been happy to just sit on this and do nothing about it. There's apparently long been rumors and anonymous accusations that YAB is full of sexual predators. Rumors which seems to have been proven true.

Over the last week tere's been a bit of a public discussion in Japan between two clothing brand CEOs concerning immigration. The men involved are Tadashi Yanai, the 75 year old CEO of Uniqlo, and Yusaku Maezawa, the 48 year old CEO of ZOZO.
Yanai made inflammatory statements earlier this week, saying that Japan will die unless it starts accepting mass immigration. His statement literally translates to "Japanese people will perish" (日本人は滅びる).
Maezawa gave a harsh rebuttal on Twitter, saying that what makes Japan is it's people, and that instead of diluting that people by pandering to globalization, Japanese people should instead unite and make the most of what is uniquely Japanese in order to become a stronger people. He also... compared Japan's situation to the manga, Kingdom, saying that a people's morale and confidence can overcome any hardship. He finishes with
>Our country is great, isn't it? I think it's an incredibly good country. The people, the climate, and the culture are wonderful. I really love it.
Maezawa's supporters are overwhelming, and arguments are being made of how bad the west has suffered from mass immigration. Yanai's supporters are concerned that Maezawa's attitude will one day plunge Japan into another major war.
I'm posting this here so that we can see how this issue is being discussed in an alien culture, and that even though a lot of gay zog elements are present, there's still things you can publicly say and show support for without being destroyed by the system. Imagine if someone said the same about White people in any western country. We have the senior citizen chain store executive that wants to flood the country and lower wages, nothing new, but then we have the young explicitly racial nationalist who's also a fucking nerd and a little idealistic. I think that's interesting.
This has been your peak into foreign internal politics.
