@nprofile…dmzz was one of the first hardware I came across as a reputable, DIY project that pulled me into the Bitcoin space.
I’m genuinely shocked that @nprofile…larh doesn’t see it as a viable, long-term investment for the open source & Bitcoin community.
Agreed they should modify their statement to: “OpenSats remains committed to funding [a certain niche of] builders who keep Bitcoin's hardware infrastructure open, auditable, and accessible”

You just answered your own question. You said you'd fight for your keys - that's property defense. You can't claim there's no ownership and in the same breath say you'd physically resist someone taking them. Those two positions don't coexist.
I'm not arguing for protocol-level morality. I agree Bitcoin is neutral code. But moral and social reality exist outside the protocol. The wrench attack is wrong not because Bitcoin says so — but because coercion to take what someone defends as theirs is theft, regardless of what any protocol recognizes.

Under your framework, is a $5 wrench attack morally acceptable? If someone physically coerces you into handing over your keys and moves the coins — did anything wrong happen? Because if ownership is just key-control, the answer has to be no. That's the wall your argument runs into.

Nostr fits into the picture by not promoting algorithmic feeds and only showing what your followers post, thereby removing the toxic sludge of attention-grabbing content solely for the purpose of data harvesting, which is used to fund operations by sending it to third parties. We can simply opt out by choosing #nostr
Who's to say that #Rumble won't operate the same way Big Tech currently functions? Is it decentralized? No. Is it open source? As far as I know, only its content moderation tools are open source, but that's about it (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Is it censorship-resistant? They claim to be, as designed. However, since they have a CEO and board of directors, they have to answer to somebody. So, it's only a matter of time before it won't be as censorship-resistant as they claim, especially under governmental pressure.
So, where does Nostr fit into this? It fits by serving as a decentralized, open-sourced, and censorship-resistant protocol that doesn't serve any single entity, unlike a centralized platform like Rumble

What is the general consensus of y’all wanting a nostr-native, zaps-only version of TikTok?
I can continue pouring majority of my time & energy into improving the PWA version of @nprofile…j44y & even start working towards a native iOS/Android app implementation of #ZapTok

This is how I feel towards our wins in Nostr & my generational cohort/peers using mainstream social media seemingly not wanting to take the initiative to make the shift to Nostr. It’s either TikTok this or Instagram that. I left that ship a long time ago & I refuse to put myself to go through the KYC process again.
which is why instead of waiting around for someone to build mainstream alternatives - why not build it ourselves? @nprofile…up0d is my attempt.
Does this solve everything? No. Will this fix the broken system? I’d like to think so, but eventually, in the (hopefully) not-so-far-distant future.
Admittedly, I cannot do it all by myself. I’d be crazy to think I can replace a behemoth of a tech empire on my own. But we can contribute as a community. At least I’d like to think so.

Apologies. Just seeing this now - this feature was meant to be used as a buffer for those not using WiFi and opted to use ZapTok on cellular data.
so this would be a conscious decision to view the video rather than automatically render the video and eat up all of your data
Since you mentioned this was taking place on your desktop, this shouldn’t be happening - I am currently on my desktop and not seeing this on every page. Quick question: are you using a personal mobile hotspot for desktop?
But this is good feedback. I will make a dialogue modal to give you the choice to opt in/out of seeing videos while on mobile data plan and effectively have the option to change it within the settings.
