Well, we're right in the "Roaring Forties". Average wind speed at Wellington airport is 29kmph (18mph). Winds reach gale force (75kmph or 46mph) an average of 175 days a year. Calm days where you can't feel the wind or see the trees moving are extremely rare.
We used to put ropes along the sidewalk to prevent people getting blown into the street, but buildings are designed differently now and there's not so much risk. Or we don't care anymore...

So, today, I heard some weird noises outside. Sounded like it could be a child in distress but I couldn't see anything (where I expected to see anything) so I sat back down, but they got louder and more urgent and I happened to look out the back window and saw a cat pouncing on something black. I opened the door and the cat looked up and booked it, as they tend to do, but the black thing promptly trotted towards me and came right up to me and stopped. It was a very pretty black bantam hen. I picked her up and she was utterly okay with that. Didn't seem at all distressed now that the cat had run off, and almost snuggled. I know the place behind me has had hens (as they had a rooster at one point that I mistakenly blamed my neighbour for) so, after she was completely calm, I lowered her over the back fence, and she quite happily jumped down and disappeared into their garden as if she knew the place. So that was my social interaction for today.

Seems legit. They're unsustainable in the long term. When the crash comes, there won't be the money to keep them going and they'll be too expensive to demolish, so abandonment is likely.
I heard someone say that Altman is asking for his latest round of funding by describing what he wants to build in order to ask it how he can make money from it. (I do not know if he said this, but it seems right for him.)

Also, the Hatch Act only applies to current federal employees. I'm not here to give Trump a break, but he's not employed by the government, and should never be again. It is, however, another example of Trump ignoring the norms of society.

Let's be honest here (not that I support Trump at all) and note that the "federal law" being cited everywhere is actually the Hatch Act which TrumpWorld ignored during his administration. Arlington policy and procedures are what prevents partisan activity in the cemetery, not a specific statute, and it's their interpretation of the Hatch Act that informs those policies. The policies and procedures should be followed, but they don't have the force of a specific statute.
