I quoted this from Luther on #Psalm 8 today in the message: “By “infants” He does not mean young children who cannot talk (for if they are to speak and preach the Word, they must be able to talk), but plain, simple, unsophisticated people, who are like infant children in that they set aside all reason, grasp and accept the Word with simple faith, and let themselves be led and directed by God like children. Such people are also the best scholars and pupils in Christ’s kingdom.”
The irony is the pushback I received basically was “sanctification is about knowledge and growth” when real Biblical sanctification involves heart, life, and soul change to be more and more like #Jesus. Knowledge is not the end goal, but the means - yet a western culture celebrates knowledge as the end goal.

Luther wrote this in the 1500s. I wonder why so many followers of Jesus have lost this amount of confidence in their faith. Now, it seems we believe we must fight as though the battle is not won.

Some churches do use TheGivingBlock. Stories I’ve heard have all been about a sort of grassroots adoption - that true change happens when people within congregations request their church to become a Bitcoin church and do the education

I will say, that is the exact opposite of my experience! Where I have been, people care about investments, budget, and spending, but typically for preservation sake and not a growth mindset. In these situations, the problem would be “that’s too volatile” or “that wouldn’t be good stewarding because we need to preserve what we have and not gamble”

Imagine the amount of ministry potential for a #church that adopts #bitcoin (on any level - from % saving to full Bitcoin standard)
#Ministry requires resources. People. Buildings. Food. Training. Goods. Time. Etc.
Adopting Bitcoin becomes a multiplying empowering force much like a person coming to a pastor saying, “I have 100k, what ministry idea do you have?”
How many more people would be touched by the good news of Jesus?

As Luther says in the Large Catechism about the 1st Commandment: “What does “to have a god” mean, or what is God? Answer: A “god” is the term for that to which we are to look for all good and in which we are to find refuge in all need. Therefore, to have a god is nothing else than to trust and believe in that one with your whole heart. As I have often said, it is the trust and faith of the heart alone that make both God and an idol. If your faith and trust are right, then your God is the true one. Conversely, where your trust is false and wrong, there you do not have the true God. For these two belong together, faith and God. Anything on which your heart relies and depends, I say, that is really your God.”
A god is something or someone you trust to give you good things.

This is somewhat true - nations and currencies do not have a soul, etc. but that does mean every technology, currency, or government is morally neutral. Certain currencies, like Bitcoin, incentivize very different living and morality than does any fiat currency.

In the most recent #Time article about #ElSalvador, #Bitcoin, & #Bukele, I believe we see the power of Bitcoin outside of financial gain. It is not about number go up or preserving capital, but it is solely and purely about the network effect and devoted user base of Bitcoin itself. This is an idea @npub14mc…frlx has coined as the “Bitcoin Cheat Code” and for every first mover, there is significant advantage. When will a church? Significant nonprofit? Standard non-tech business adopt a the “cheat code”?

AOtD feels like a prophetic book written well before its time. Technopoly takes a very negative approach to technology but I believe #Bitcoin has the healthy incentives he dislikes about other tech

Would #Jesus have found #Bitcoin compelling? The answer lies somewhere between would he have an opinion at all or would he be concerned about what it produces in his followers?
On one hand, Jesus talks all about money, the love of money, and how for his followers, it is not their savior.
On the other hand, Jesus is all for the justice, fairness, and equality that Bitcoin represents.
