That's what the symptoms sound like: one or the other
The fact that both run the Mastodon distribution is irrelevant; the legendary "Fediverse" is an abstraction that means even less
As to why?
Mastodon dot Social is an enormous, monolithic enterprise and there's little explaining anything it does
Finally on closer inspection your instance seems to be running as a forked Mastodon distro that I (at least) have never heard of:

feed and all I can say is, in no particular order:

Empty #ProfilePages
Pretty much content-free posts in general, I mean:

Very little (if any) threading; posts are all one-offs

A very early thread included RenChap (y'all may have heard of him) saying quite clearly that:
1) it's very early days on this
2) it's going to appear first in the Mastodon dot Social Nightlies, and it will be --> OFF <-- by default
3) there is still a great deal of concern about server load/instance resource consumption, particularly for the "You can host your own instance!!" single- small-user crowd
So y'all need to take a deep breath and chill just a little

Dry upper level trough moving down from the north going through the area later today. Narrow high amplitude upper level ridge just offshore extending north along the British Columbia coast into Alaska keeping dry cool northerly flow aloft going into Wednesday. Record low temperatures possible the next couple of mornings. Pattern breaks down Wednesday night with an upper level low weakening and moving into Oregon Thursday night into Friday. Precipitation associated with the low could get as far north as the Puget Sound area Thursday night into Friday.

Last thing I saw here yesterday, central Puget Sound / Vashon Island, was an absolutely astonishing hail storm right before nightfall yesterday that covered everything in white like a snow squall, even filling in the grass
That was it, and now that's all melted off and it's raining lightly

I may not do more that one of these, but at first light (now Sunday 02/02/2025 07:53:28 PST) central Puget Sound / Vashon Island @ ^ 300 feet above sea level:
Snowing. Side road completely covered, main two-lane road I can see has two melted car tracks and a snowy center line. Not sticking on the grass yet. Sticking on well-insulated roof tops
KLGX Doppler radar out at Copalis Beach WA in Precipitation Depiction mode has patchy snow bands coming onshore, southwest --> northeast trending
KATX Doppler at Camino Island shows pretty much the same
Both Cascade Mountain passes (I-90 Snoqualmie and US 2 Stevens) currently open with traction tires required, compact snow and ice, overcast only at the moment

My entire point was that the graphic presentation (which is what people scan for maybe three seconds) paints an entirely different story when viewed on the phone "app" everybody uses now, as opposed to the data presentation in a full-screen web browser tab
Clearly a design choice was made to *not* reformat the data to make the same presentation on any viewing device

I have FediDB open in a tab daily
Some time ago I noticed a formatting change (really it was done with the time distribution) whereby in a browser tab, full screen HD 32" monitor, the top page, lead graphs were all virtually flat lines
Just thought to myself 'who would want this data portrayed in such an uninformative way?' but I see now it was reformatted for phones, because as we all know, *everyone* views the web through an "app" on their phones
Docktorow really needs a re-write to discuss the "enappification of the Internet"
That "enshitification" shchtick is so 2000s

Looks like you're looking on your phone, and the graph show some uplift at the recent end
Myself, looking full-screen 1920@1080@60p on a 32 inch monitor, full-screen Firefox browser tab, I see only the faintest, softest curves upward
Pretty unimpressive, really
Also interesting to note that the time scale is daily for me with a significant gap between data points, while you've got four-day data points all run together
Interesting to consider *how* the data is presented affects the message delivered, I guess
Bet DanSup and Gargron like the data rendition you see better than the one I see...
