The tariff comments seem to be misplaced.
It’s not about Tariffs. They are secondary to the important point. It’s about access.
China has effectively threatened to do what the US did when cutting Russia off from SWIFT.
Except there are other ways to make money transfers and there aren’t many other ways to ship goods.

🚨 unpopular opinion 🚨
We are still early in Bitcoin not bc of the technological innovation around currency.
But more bc of the low levels of credit relative to the underlying collateral asset.
The early shift to credit & lending in bitcoin is what is in the early innings.

1000% agree. I was feeling exactly the same, but wasn’t sure others were willing to admit it.
Moving out of the dorm room moments have been inflection points in history. If Bitcoin has sold its soul to the devil, it was all for naught. Just another Central Bank liquidity tool and the fastest fintech, not racehorse.
Hopefully, it does its thing. Remains a shadowy coder and continues to orange pill the very ones trying to co-opt its power.

Time is the most scarce monetizable asset we all have.
Money, in whatever form, is merely the medium of exchange we buy or spend time.
Chasing money = spending time.
Creating flexibility = buying time.
Either way, time is the only finite resource available to us.

Since January 2024 - Bitcoin has paired up with DXY.
It has traded directionally with it. Breaking the trend of trading opposite.
i.e. we are seeing “yield curve control” but across Global Macro Asset classes not just the bond curve.

One of my favorite things to do in 2007 was to correlate current prices/days to past major drawdowns in assets.
We’re currently most correlated to S&P 👉1937 (88%), 1973 (81%), & 1976 (78%).
It’s important bc previously, we experienced 4️⃣ historic market events across several different decades.
1913 - paradigm shift / Central Banks
1920s-40s - geopolitical issues & wars
1944 - new world monetary order
1960/70s - inflation/deflation
Life altering times but were spread across six decades.
💡 Today, the data confirms my view that what is “different” is that we are experiencing all 4️⃣ events in one decade, or in the past 5 years.

Capital stacks, balance sheets, and allocation of capital are what drive economic systems.
Hoarded stacks of capital create piles of debt that eventually become worthless, clogging the pipes.
Until… a new capital stock is created and re-deployed, unclogging the plumbing and moving liquidity once again.

This would be the 21st Century version of TIPs - Treasury Inflation Protected Securities or in this case — BIPs — Bitcoin Inflation Protected Securities.

This is actually a phenomenal chart that tells the history of rates AND the challenges we’ve created in banking.
💡High rates = functioning economy
🚫Low rates = broken economy
Here’s how Central Banks and Derivatives distorted this.
For about 100yrs rates easily stayed between 6-9% and never really went below 6 (1790 to 1880).
Charts below.
🏦💸Enter Central Banking Era and things drastically changed.
The battle to establish the Central Banking Era created an environment where rates RARELY went above 6% — for the next 100yrs.
This was abnormal relative to the past.
In this low rate period we had more bank failures and wars.
The 1960s/80s brought the Derivatives Era.
As financialization and debt became the norm, rates became bi-polar.
For the next 55 yrs (charts stops 2010). Rates were erratic (too high and too low), creating more tension, more defaults and liquidity issues.
Outside of manipulation and intervention, high rates provide stability and growth (6-9%).
They cause piles of capital to move from unproductive to productive use cases — where the profit is higher than the hurdle *rate*.
Low allow unproductive use case to survive on low rates.

Current drawdown is 85% correlated to 1937 and 85% to 1973.

Most of the time it just boils down to a simple but harsh truth— can you catch people when they are *willing* to hear it?
Until it’s blatantly obvious (a grandmother can see it) or painful enough to get someone to stop; the average person *will not* pay attention.
They are *too busy* on *more important* things… until… what is being explained becomes important *to them*, in *their moment of need*.

Work by @nprofile…k60v shows debasement of USD is about 12.7%.
@nprofile…4vq4 uses 8-9% (inflation) to calculate loss of purchasing power.
This tells us the hurdle rate for maintaining a quality lifestyle.
Grok shows #Bitcoin ‘s compound annual growth is 86.9% & the S&P is 14.2%, since 2010.
That is why BTC is import. It is well above the rate at which money is being debased while stocks are more or less equal.
In periods of high inflation, like the last five years of 20-30% grocery, gas, clothing and essentials inflation. This pain is even more obvious.

The first step is understanding what your realistic fixed costs are, what your savings rate can be and what your excess discretionary spending is.
Once you do this very little debt is required because you’ve properly identified needs vs. wants and we will have prioritized needs over wants.
We got here by the irrational belief that we should be able to have all of our wants first because credit makes those available with ease.
In doing so, we ignored our needs and created a negative feedback loop of consumption above all else.
We got here by flawed principles. Those can go on, and have, for some time. Eventually they break the money, forcing everyone to look in the mirror. Only then can money can be reset to something that has sound principles and provides economic stability that encourages productivity, proper capital & resource allocation that restores growth.
Until we root out waste and destroy all of the excess spending and remove the negative feedback loop of overconsumption the problem will not be solved and will only worsen. However, it will be painful and many attempts will be made with credit like tools that will only extend the inevitable. Bonds are fine tools but can only be issued from entities that have excess capital, are productive, and encourage proper rate functions (risk/reward).

Choosing inflatable currencies with little foundation is just a “can kick” of the existing fiat 🤡 🎪. It allows the 🫧 to grow larger. This is a the perfect discussion about this “issue”. @nprofile…3r3l absolutely gets it.
I’m guessing development gets there but he clearly points out the issuer. There are now algorithms or “filters” yet that allow for proper following. So we are still at the stage where it’s just a bunch of people and we are not seeing really anything meaningful. Hence all the GM posts and pictures of food or outdoor scenery and no meaningful news or research, etc.

One of the hardest things is for companies to change code base from old to new because of the cost to rebuild all the hacked together integrations.
Wouldn’t this be a perfect use case for AI? To rebuild it faster and with cleaner code.
Get to a new test system faster on a new code base to be able to make sure it all works before transferring to the new infrastructure?
