So moovit (a public transit app) seemingly has a slop blog where they post about changes to transit networks, and there's this one for #Sydney with a hilariously incorrect map
They've got a bunch of other posts with obviously generated imagery where the geography (or things like bus colours) doesn't make sense.

This works because the conflicts can be resolved lazily, so you can parallelise everything then rebuild in a different order without waiting for conflicts to be resolved. Chances are you won't have to resolve any because you've moved into an order where the changes still make sense.

I'm at the point now with JJ aliases where I'd like to be able to have some way of accepting arguments or flags and mutating them before passing them to another command. Maybe I could just do this with little Ruby scripts and option parser?

Hot JJ tip: make a custom "fork" alias that adds a new remote and sets it as the push target.
This way you just smash "fork" in your face web UI, grab the remote URL, and slap it into "jj fork". Now all your pushes go to the fork ready to open PRs.

Final word count is 3,395 and I decided not to talk about binding interfaces, testing, difficulties reporting good errors from macros, potential performance tradeoffs, or alternate ways of implementing it. I didn't even include a section on how macros rule and using any language without macros is like typing with oven mitts.

TIL while doing this that in a "finished" macro (I suspect it works in any macro that's not inside a method??) you can define a class with "::" before the name to monkey-patch the top-level class. I was struggling for how I was going to record which types needed to be retained in the scope, and this did the trick

It even supports binding interfaces to implementations, and controlling whether instances get recreated or retained—based off the Dagger/Hilt behaviours as that's what I've used before.
Haven't done the equivalent of at-Provides, but it's actually at the point now that I can write macros that generate code that uses the lower level macros 🫠

Everyone can relax, 1Password have released an update to their iOS Safari extension and now it doesn't break syntax highlighting. Like 1.5 months since the issue was raised during their beta.

@nprofile…9pvk I'm self conscious using my big camera in crowded/touristy places (despite just wanting to take pictures with no one in them), I can't imagine how difficult it would be to need something like that for accessibility. I guess the cynical silver lining is that when everyone is using a face camera, you can use one without worrying 😕

@nprofile…pq9l I haven't come across that before, but it seems to be a way to start/stop groups of containers managed by compose via systemd, whereas quadlets is built in to podman, and is more of a 1:1 mapping of systemd service to container, which I think is a good fit for people that just want to run a service that happens to be distributed via container images.

@nprofile…gr74 if I'm taking photos at night I'll swap the exposure metering mode to centre, so it'll expose for the subject rather than cranking the exposure up to try and brighten the sky/background. Works well for people. Then also make the shutter speed longer because my hands are steadier than the camera thinks

I learnt about anyhow's with_context method and now error reporting in pod is all fancy. It'll show what it was trying to do when the error happened, rather than a mishmash of wrapped and passed through errors.

@nprofile…kjlg liquid glass on iOS also behaves differently in screenshots versus real life, in Good Sudoku (maybe a game mode side effect?) notification centre is light and notification text is unreadable (b/c white on white) but if you take a screenshot the notification shade is dark, making the text readable. Screen recording forces the display to render like the screenshot.

@nprofile…2clg it's just mine, and just the photos from my camera&drone, day-to-day photos go to Google Photos for easier sharing and stuff. Keeping it all local means it's fast to organise the library, jump to editing a photo, and have that edit organised.
tbh I probably just need to accept I won't ever look at 99% of the raw photos after I've sorted through and edited the good ones, and just delete everything (or export them into folders and archive to the Synology).

@nprofile…ujlq ok so I've learnt that the reason 1P on MacOS sucks is because they're not using the system-provided autofill API and instead relying on the browser extension injecting JS. So for passkeys especially (that are designed to integrate with a proper API) it can fall through and be almost impossible to sign in. Maybe Bitwarden is in my future 😐

@nprofile…zzfu I think it's more than annoying, it shows that 1Password can accidentally include a third-party library in the code they ship to run in every page in your browser. I assume because they use Electron they're using it for some feature in the app, but it getting pulled into the extension is a pretty silly failure.

There was some discussion last week about if you get locked out of your Apple account, does that jeopardise your passkeys. Passkey export seemingly happens directly between apps (https://9to5mac.com/2025/06/13/ios-26-passkeys-password-transfer/) and if your account is locked you (presumably) won't be able to install another password manager to export to. So if you're iOS-only it seems like you're buggered, on MacOS you can presumably find a pw manager outside the app store.

I can see in the feed that the Jekyll version is the same as I've got locally (3.10.0) and the markup still says highlighter-rouge so it's not like it's accidentally swapped that out.

Oh and using cURL with the same headers as Safari gives me the right markup, so it seems unlikely that GH is doing something like canarying a new build of their gem only for (my) desktop Safari user agent

Looking at the network inspector in Safari, I see the intended markup. Same with view source. Only seeing the incorrect markup in the actual inspector.

GitHub is seemingly doing something funky with Pages, on Safari on MacOS I get different syntax highlighting markup, and thus no highlighting because it doesn't match CSS. Every other way (cURL, FF, iOS Safari) I get the intended markup.

@nprofile…kjlg hmmm I suppose when the enclosure URL (??) changes in the feed, Overcast interprets that as an equivalent episode (perhaps fixing a mistake) that needs to be re-downloaded. Would be nice if the feed kept all the content released during a membership, but I know that would make things more complicated. I can see specials that I've got downloaded, but no War Games one. I'm sure it downloaded but I could be imagining things.

Surely there's some signal going to Overcast to force a re-download of the episode that you have control over?

I've also lost access to overtime from this episode. Seems a bit much to pull that when it's downloaded to my phone and was playing it yesterday.
