Yeah, I feel that, I've definitely touched up against some pretty insane parts of the Fediverse. Honestly it's kind of difficult to get an overview sense of the general vibe of the place because of how odd and messy federation (and defederation) works.
Everything will be smooth sailing for the most part and then you run into these people with these crazy groups of people following them around who will target you for some percieved slight, and then just as quick you never see them again.

I have trouble getting too excited about mid-sized nations giving up on one world order farce in order to throw us all into a new world order farce that appears to be the same but simply has three fascist police states calling the shots regionally instead of one floundering to do it globally.

China doubled their coal production since 2007. And their stated timelines have always been 20 years beyond of the Paris Accords. They're also responsible for about a third of the raw emissions going into the atmosphere.
I wouldn't oversell their efforts, you have to remember that the Chinese government will claim anything to try and save face, but it doesn't necessarily always line up with what they do.

No one suggested trans youth should be gatekept, children's consent and medical care is different from adult care in that the child's caregivers are involved and have responsibilities. This applies to any medical care provided to a child, regardless of whether they are trans or not.
My point was that often times trans care for children entails more involved discussion and exploration. Whereas an adult is fully autonomous and is fully capable of consent.

It's always kind of wild to me that there is a waitlist for trans adults to receive care in any modern nation, the data from the US should prove pretty definitively that informed consent is objectively better for everyone.
