Just done with the kidical mass bike demo in Lichtenberg. It was a blast, thank you to the organizers! And proud of my daughter for participating for the first time and surviving and enjoying the entire way.

Hmm looks like in the upgrade of #Fedora 42->43, my #syncthing config got overwritten?!
Every system upgrade is a risk! And if, you'll allow me to mention this, using an "atomic" or "immutable" distro wouldn't have prevented this either.

As someone who has been doing "AI" professionally for 10 years now and really believes in its potential, I've been quite bummed about how much people on Fedi hate it.
But I've just set foot outside academia for the first time and heard a keynote talk about AI in an industry meeting and it was so fucking dumb that I left early, angrily. The most insane brain rot bullshit I ever came across.
Now I understand why people outside academia hate it so much.

Recently, I said provocatively that installing updates frequently, unless it's security updates, is basically procrastination. The reason is that something can always break, and updates are unlikely to fix something you were struggling with.
Someone replied that they have some kind of ultra nerdcore distro that's atomic where they can always go back to a working state.
Yeah, not if with the update your shit gets encrypted. Which is what happened to me. Today. With the latest #signal #flatpak.
