I do like the idea of the smaller monitor for displaying widgets and the like. But I'm fairly confident it will actually be inconvenient, unless it's powered by a separate computer, like a raspberry pi or something.

I watched an interesting video about Devo and Whip it recently, that reframed the song. They claimed the song was originally about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, sarcastically. But people took it sexually, and they leaned into it, as they desperately needed a hit, and hadn't had one yet. This song is from their third album.
I listened to some other early Devo stuff, and it's pretty rough. They were certainly trying to be counter-culture at the time.

The other day my coworker was telling me that he had to take his 15-year old for some medical care, and the hospital refused to give him the results of the tests they ran.
They refuse to give the results of minor's tests to their parents, who brought them in.
We agreed this change was likely made to ensure you can transition kids without parental consent. Among other deplorable things.

Sounds like you haven't looked at how a modern traffic signal works.
I had my mind blown the other day. I watched a YT video made by a technician who opened up the control box at the corner of the interchange, and showed the computer power there.
The one he demonstrated had a camera that spots traffic 500 yards away, and signals the change to start changing before the "peloton" of cars arrives. That was the word he used.
And that was just one of the many cams and sensors.

And right now we are seeing this trend in AI. Currently, AI is in the "give it away for well below cost to get people addicted" phase of this plan.
Also, you can rent a computer in a data center for below cost. Because all of these companies are being held up by investment money currently.
But you know it won't last.
Seeing this pattern makes me want to find a way to take advantage of these companies that are in the growth phase, and drop them when they want to become profitable.

And I feel like I knew this before, but it's really come into focus lately. These big tech companies create a product, price it extremely competitively, with the sole purpose of running any competitors out of business, and then turning the screws on the customers to make money.
It seems like investors line up to support these dishonest business models.
Think of Netflix. When they were growing, the price was low, and even I used it. But it was unsustainable.
Spotify did the same.

I have watched a few Youtube videos recently that have made me realize the pattern Big Tech uses, which leads to enshitification.
The first was about the Chinese ebike rental war. Alibaba and another company were competing against each other to own the market. They were giving away FREE rides during peak times. During Holidays, when everyone wanted to ride, they would let them ride free, and often give them an voucher for an additional free ride later! Paying people to ride at peak times!

I didn't do everything here, though. Especially removing the legacy apps. I prefer the older versions of these apps, which don't have AI in them.
Do you really need an updated version of notepad? I don't.

Snapshots don't require any command line work, either. You can load the last snapshot from the boot loader, and then CachyOS will prompt you on boot and offer to revert to that snapshot, all in the GUI. EZPZ

CachyOS is awesome because of what Steam is doing with Proton.
CachyOS and Bazzite are the two hot distros for gaming right now.
CachyOS is a rolling release distro, so get updates, which could break something.
Bazzite is a fixed release, that gets updated occasionally.
But the thing about CachyOS, is that if you set it up per their wiki, it comes with BTRFS snapshots out of the box. If an update borks your system, it's a 5 minute fix to roll back to the last snapshot.

In the end, I installed *shudders* Windows 11. WAIT HEAR ME OUT.
I installed Windows 11 Enterprise IOT. IOT being the most important part. It’s extremely barebones, but still modern enough to support the newest technologies. No Candy Crush, no Copilot, No Onedrive, no TPM required, no Microsoft account required. 8 more years of security updates. NO feature updates. No feature updates is a good thing in my book.

Want to increase the power limit on your GPU? You can do that. But the first four forums I found via search had people asking how to do it, and people telling them they can’t. Eventually, I happened upon an offhand comment that said the name of the program that does it (LACT). And it worked fine. It took me hours to find. MSI Afterburner just works on Windows. I had Apollo set up for streaming games, complete with resolution changing in half an hour.

Over the holidays, I tried to switch my Gaming PC to CachyOS, and I gave up.
I learned a lot from the experience, but the conclusion I came to is this:
Ironically, CachyOS is better for gaming for normies than techies. Normies who would never consider using Linux.
If all you want to do is surf the web, and install and play games you legitimately bought from mainstream stores, then it's great. Very little setup, good performance.

I will never build another computer with an AIO liquid cooler. The pump in ANOTHER one died on me last week. Second in the last few years.
When an AIO dies, you are dead in the water. The computer won't run for 5 minutes.
I replaced it with a $35 tower cooler that can handle 200 watts.
If the fan on the tower cooler fails, it's a cheap, easy fix. And it'll still mostly work with the airflow in your system.
FUCK AIO Coolers. Total Air Cooler supremacy! I am so done.
