After a long time running the dyndns service at https://www.nsupdate.info just from master branch, I just released version 0.13.0 of the software running there!
Bug fixes, some nice new features (esp. for IPv6 users) and a new dark theme!

PSA: It's a good idea to wear a well-fitting N95 or N99 mask at the #CCC Congress #39c3 and also when traveling.
There is a nasty mutated influenza virus going around, and SARS-CoV2 (and RSV and ...) are still around too. All of these are airborne, meaning they are transmitted through the air. The virus-laden aerosols float in the air like smoke for a long time.
Hopefully, you have gotten vaccinated for both – the vaccines help in case of infection, but unfortunately they are not perfect.

Yes, you could do that.
Other options:
a) Use a ssh://normaluser@localhost/ repo.
b) Try if you can use linux capabilities (see borgbackup issue tracker) to give borg running as non-root user permissions to access and read everything.
