You can tell your parents about Nostr District now: sing up and login with google is out now
normies don't manage keys. so for them, signup now works like every app they already know: tap Continue with Google. but under the hood it's pure self-custody:
→ a fresh nsec is generated on your device
→ it's encrypted locally with your password (AES-256-GCM)
→ only the ciphertext is uploaded — to your own Google Drive, in the hidden app folder (drive.appdata scope, nothing else)
Google never sees your key. we never see your key. and the blob carries no npub or name, so nobody can even link your Google account to your nostr identity.
forgot your password? set up Face ID at signup → it unlocks the same account.
Also updated the login screen with the settings dropdown

launch shipped with NIP-07 and NIP-46 login, encrypted DMs via NIP-17 + NIP-44 + NIP-59, ephemeral chat, and profile sync from kind:0.
here's what's been added since:
Breeze spark wallets, zaps (NIP-57 + NWC), polls pinned to rooms (NIP-88), crews — persistent guilds with roles, invite tokens, and encrypted group chat (NIP-29), Nostr themes (Kind 36767), a fully stocked market, fishing, moveable room furniture, tarot reader in the alley, a live global Nostr feed room. the world has grown too — Alley, Woods, Cabin

Every account gets one automatically — no setup, no extra backup. It's bound to your nsec, and it syncs across browsers and devices automatically.
Zap, get zapped, shop.
Built on @npub1jug…fc28 spark sdk.
Crews v2
Each crew has its own keypair (crewSk). Promote someone to admin and the app gift-wraps the crewSk to them via encrypted DM — they can now kick, edit, and change roles with full cryptographic authority.
Nothing changes for regular members — joining, leaving, chatting all work exactly the same. The shift is entirely on the admin side: crews can finally be run by a team.

 working on passkey login for The District
the idea: encrypt your nsec with a WebAuthn PRF key derived from your device biometric (face id, touch id, windows hello)
not every passkey manager supports PRF yet. chrome + platform authenticator works great. proton pass and older apple keychain don't implement it. safari 17.4+ on macos does. 
A few quality-of-life improvements coming:
* Login screen rework — cleaner layout, guest mode tucked into the corner, better spacing across all screen sizes
* Keys modal in settings — view your npub & nsec (with reveal toggle)
* Guest accounts now show their ephemeral key in Keys — save it if you want to keep your identity
Big customization overhaul coming — figured out a new pixel art pipeline combining ChatGPT + Aseprite, expect way more outfit options
New scenes.

nostr-district update (4/13 – 4/17)
big one this week — mobile got a full overhaul.
mobile
* if you've been playing on iOS/safari and things felt broken — audio not playing, tapping players moving your character instead of opening their menu, the game resizing when the keyboard pops up — all of that has been reworked from the ground up. It should finally feel right.

* crew members can now decline invites; join requests process in the background
* world map (tab) (/map)
* foreground furniture layer + new room items
* connecting overlay shows while presence is syncing
fixes
* ghost players when switching rooms
* polls not closing + scroll position not remembered
* tarot/fortune sounds playing after leaving the alley
