Trying out #[zrl=https://hub.workersofthe.world/search?tag=NixOS]NixOS[/zrl] on a VM. It still seems like...a lot
There's just no way about it that installing software is a pain, and the community makes the old Arch community look tolerable. "Well, it depends on what you mean by 'installing', you need to change the way in which you think of how software is managed on a system" fuuuuuuck off
Unsure if it's ready for daily driving. From what I can tell, I have to first search for what the software is actually called, then add it manually into configuration.nix, and then run the switch command. Which is fine for a toy, something you want to see all the inner workings of, but it isn't all that convenient for just using your device.
Also I guess it pulls stuff right from Github and builds it? which would explain how its repo can be so massive. Anyone have any input as to why that would be more secure than the AUR? #[zrl=https://hub.workersofthe.world/search?tag=Arch]Arch[/zrl] #[zrl=https://hub.workersofthe.world/search?tag=Linux]Linux[/zrl]

You can hook them up to software that lets them tell time, but there's nothing in an LLM that isn't measured in terms of token generation, not objective time.

I don't think it's some conspiracy where the "Department of War" wanted to help Anthropic's marketing just to turn around and use OpenAI's systems instead. OpenAI might be saved by this contract, and Anthropic might crash because of the response.

It's one thing the right wing and the "left" can agree on, if they're both uneducated and stuck in the 80s, that nuclear is 'dangerous' and they don't want it.
Setting up nuclear, especially good, modern nuclear, [i]is[/i] expensive. It also lasts basically forever and pays for itself easily in the long term, along with being very clean and reliable, able to be installed essentially anywhere. If we want to get off fossil fuels, we need reactors turned on, because there is never going to be a country that runs entirely off solar and wind. That would be just asking for shortages during times like droughts, storms, eruptions, and other disasters that would impact solar or wind generation, when the power is needed most. Geothermal is good and reliable too, in places where it's viable, but if you want efficient and clean power, you need nuclear right now.

It's all just centralized social media, three different websites owning everyone's souls and giving them no options to personalize their spaces or be anything other than content consumers.
tbh even fedi kinda sucks for it, because it's like 90% Mastodon which is the most barebones unpersonalized software there is for it.

Which is exactly why they need assistance. Being told 'just use Linux' is not useful, you are right, but being told, "Let me know what is that you use your computer for, and I can help you get set up on a new operating system in just a couple minutes. You don't need to keep struggling with this." That changes things.
So no, if people are complaining, I'm going to assume that they would at least appreciate a solution if it's delivered in the right way. If they don't, well...then it isn't really complaining, is it? It's something else.

The Branch Davidians hoarded weapons as part of their doomsday myth. [i]Most[/i] cults are harmless — even to their own members — but that isn't what makes them a cult, and there is plenty of overlap between cults and terrorist groups. MAGA, with its superstition and mythologizing around Trump and their weird brand of Christianity, as well as their bloodlust and attacks on their enemies, is definitely both.
