Look, here's how it will most likely play out in the long run, imo:
1. More and more people will grow tired of war. I'm already seeing many display this type of attitude around my neighborhood and others. It's become far too costly for the civilian population with the attainment of absolutely nothing in return.
2. Certain nations will cease to exist or merge with neighboring countries.
3. Corporate and government leaders will begin to stab each other in the back till the point of infrastructural implosion; something I believe we're already witnessing.

The geopolitical situation seems to be headed down this path. As impactful as these wars have been on us, casualty rates are nowhere near as severe as past global conflicts like WWII and Vietnam.

When it comes to military service, I'm not so sure. Here me out. Warfare is changing on a very broad scale. We're already quickly approaching an era where we won't even need human capital to wage war (not that we should anyway 🙄). I'm not entirely sure if it's because they're mostly youngsters, because I've met some VERY intelligent young people. They too seem bored by social media. Although, keep in mind that this is a very rare occurrence.
I feel the same way when it comes to controversial topics. Most people have become too scared to discuss topics that are deemed as such. But, here's the thing, controversial topics are often viewed as problematic by the vast majority, and most people don't wish to solve problems, they wish to ignore them. But that's not how you fix problems. They NEED to be discussed. When it comes to controversial topics, there is one in particular that I am always pondering: national borders. Nikola Tesla always believed that world peace will only be achieved through the deletion of such barriers. Personally, I believe the same. When you consider the vastness of the world, national borders seem quite ridiculous. They always lead to a sense of nationalism, racism, hatred, and many other forms of conflict. Many of these issues are the cause of the global issues we're experiencing right now.

This is a toughy. Because, I have friends who have very few of these things and they still live better than much of the middle class population. The thing is that they don't feel the need to have many of these things. Some have even confessed this. Lol. They don't live in a hovel... or eat cold beans. 🙄🤣 They all have decent sized houses or apartments. My one friend has a a wife and two kids. We definitely need to reevaluate what it means to be identified as middle-class. And I think people need to start to lean away from traditional assets, as well. Circumstances for so many have changed over the past ten years or so. Take my friend, who's been hodling for ten years, as an example. He probably doesn't have half of the things on this lost, yet here he is now as a stay-at-home dad with WHO THE HELL KNOWS HOW MUCH IN BITCOIN HOLDINGS! I agree with you on certain elements of this statement. When you wonder if AI will surpass humans strictly in terms of "smarts", as you mentioned, yes it will exceed humanity very easily. But, I can't fully agree with you're notion that we'll most likely not see a generalist AI. I believe it will eventually be able to but through different means of achieving consensus. Humans have a tendency to generalize through whatever degree of emotional impact different types of experiences may have on them. This is why when humans generalize they often have a tendency to be wrong about many things; much of the time it lacks logic. Not always. But, often. Given an AI's lack of emotion, there seems to be, at least, a small possibility of it being able to generate a consensus through facts alone. Including statistical facts that were produced through the observation of emotional responses.
