Juxta the Combinator Cat lore: it's able to use stack combinators as magic abilities. swap allows Juxta to change oppositions with an object as long as nothing is in the way. drop can make objects disappear temporarily, dup can make copies of them temporarily, and quote lets juxta summon a box. Which it obviously sits in.
Abilities can only effect objects roughly around its mass.

Woolietail has always had support for "keys". Every color can be in one of two states: high or low. Every scene has links for the low state and links for the high state. So you can branch between scenes conditionally. Additionally, links can be overloaded for non-determinism.
I can flip a bit and have the same scene and same color send you to a different location.

You only "destroy information" when it has to leave the bubble it exist for.
So like Game World destroys information to hand stuff back to the Host Language which destroys information to hand it back to its Runtime which destroys information to hand it back to the OS which finally destroys information to put it away into RAM.
Then you turn off you computer and return the electrons you've been borrowing.
If you know a higher being, you could send some matter to them as a little treat.

It is the case in computers nothing is actually "destroyed" per say. You are simply changing bits from 0 to 1 and back to 0. It's from the perspective of the runtime / host language that information is "destroyed" as it moves in and out of it's domain / point-of-reference.
A funny consequence of this is games. This video from Bob Nystrom sticks with me for his observation that "you have to re-implement OOP in a OOP language for your game's world". You game's world is separate from your language's world.
The consequence of this is a language with a GC will need a in-language GC for the world you are building within it.

The hard part is efficient editing of large files. Eventually "hunt-and-peeking, shift-unshifting" characters into a buffer is to inefficent for even a fast language.
I usually combine stuff I read from Left with writting by @npub1ex6…6j2g for the API shape. And that gets me through that 80%.

The ability to find synonyms and approximate searches would definitely be nice. Downside of a physical dictionary is that it only helps when I'm close to the initial stem of the word. Some words are a real struggle for me to connect sound to letter.

It really just reminds me of my manic episode from May to September of 2018. I was stressed, depressed, and burnt out. Then I read a book called "In Defense of Food: The Eater's Manifesto". And my world view collapsed into a burning hot point.
(tangent: thank fuck it was a book about diversifying your diet with fresh produce and not some self-help blackhole)
I became locked in at running at 200%, then 300%, then 400%. Faster. more. faster. more. faster. bigger and bigger and bigger and and and and...
Then, I crashed. And cratored for years. I lemented that time I could move so fast. Eventually, however, I accepted that period for what it was: a toxic little dilusion I could be more than human.
And that's kinda how I see the whole LLM thing. People don't want to accept it's sometimes good even neccessary for things to be slow. People don't want to accept that perhasp we are alone in a cold uncaring universe. That what we have is what we got and we have to care for it or have nothing. ...also, a concerning number of people want a slave...
I guess a short way to put it: LLMs are disdain for the human scale and limit.

reminds me of my motivation behind "and NULL". and was chosen to be confusing, purposefully kept lowercase to confuse a human reader (possibly machine readers as well). NULL was picked for it's tendency to confuse computer system. A value misinterpreted as empty when it may actually represent a value (databases interpreting the name Null as the value NULL) or misinterpreted as a value when it's actually empty (JavaScript's typeof null == "object").

I keep coming back to this. I know what "poorly made things" you are thinking of. But there is the cold cynical view of that. "poorly made" as in "you don't have years of drawing experience, this looks awful, why did you bother?". It's a bitter note I've long seen online.
When I was a kid, I drew without shame. Every drawing was made with heart and passion. But when I started to look back as an adult, all I can see is the poorly made things. Sloppy art, sloppy anatomy, sloppy this sloppy that.
But, I've been trying to take a kinder approach. Appreciate that coarseness. To enjoy impassioned sloppiness that is found in raw self expression. Something doesn't have to carefully crafted and stitch together to be good or enjoyed. It just has to be made from the heart.
I am possibly one of the only artist I know that enjoys looking at their old art. Everyone else cringes in shame, embarrassment, guilt? perhaps. Guilt at having made something so carelessly.
But, I've come to look back almost with envy. The lack of understanding, the pureness of my attempts at expressing myself. I look at it and go "man, I don't even think I could draw like this if I tried.". I kept an old composition notebook full of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends x Super Mario fanfiction.
It was all written in 2007. It's insane nonsense. Errors I'm not even sure I could earnestly recreate. I spelled virtualized as "verchooliesed". I don't think I could even imagine spelling virtualized so badly now. If I saw that in a book trying to "write like a kid" I might scoff at it for being to absurd.
But, there it is, written by me nearly 20 years ago.
I like to occasionally look through this notebook. Remember what it was like to just *firehose* creative energy without a care for Good or Bad. Just wanting to birth an idea into the world, tell a funny story, share my feelings.
From the time that story was written to about the start of college. I was paralyzed with fear. A fear of expressing myself in words. I internalized the endless judgement of others. In another timeline, one where I didn't have an English lecture to pull me out of my shell, I may have perhaps found GPT models to be liberatory.
I luckily found freedom in messy 4-5 people ERP in discord backrooms. Rooms that I'd eventually find my BF in. I now shameless put up pages that may contain spelling and grammar errors with no intent to fix them unless they cause major errors. My wikithing is wreckless self-expression.
My best will be learning to create with careless, reckless passion. Accept someone will always find what I make to be poorly made no matter how hard I try. To accept that sometimes "making something poorly" is possibly the goal. That all things start "poorly made" before they have a chance to be made well.
I want to be able to write "verchooliesed" with heartful passion and not a care nor guilt for how poorly spelled that word is. Illustrate a story without worrying how poorly drawn each thing is. Narrate without fear of how ill-structured the narrative is.
I wish people would embrace poorly *made* things instead of turning to destructively generated slop. The world would be a much kinder place for it. It's not a fear of effort, but a fear of sincerity. A dark numbness to expressing yourself, both the well-put-together and the horrible-crashout-5am-screams.

In theory, Factor (or any compiled language really) *could* preform the same optimization I describe here *if* the compiler can detect that buf is a global singleton *and* that buf[i] is finite. Thus, buf[1].append(str) would be the same as buff-append-1(str) but optimized to erase indirection. This is actually a trick I've used in Modal and Nova from time to time when trying to load-balance rule search and rewrite cost.

(also buf[i].append(str) could be expressed syntactically as buf.at(i).append(str) to "unify" everything under method calls. This could then desugar into append(at(buf, i), str) and still generate the same code. In catlangs, however, the difference is moot. Methods in Factor exist more as short hand for manually writing out if chains or cond blocks, which the compiler can optimize on and erase)

It's also worth noting that if the list of buffers is static then you still have the same equivalency as now i become the target of append (acting like a pointer). so<code>i.append(str) <=> append(i, str) </code>
to access the i-th buffer and append str to it. The buffer access and bounds checking have been internalized. If the list of buffers is a fixed size, you can then "unroll" each entry into:<code>append-1(str) append-2(str) append-3(str) . . . </code>
So this is kinda two tricks mashed together (OOP with monomorphization and inlining).

Wim is correct. Tho, the example given is operating on a globally shared buffer that can have its access inlined to speed things up (vs having to shuffle ;buf and ;cap into the correct place with SWP2). If you had a list of buffers, however, there would be no difference between append(buf[i], str) and buf[i].append(str). As noted, Raku (and also Nim) have Uniform Call Syntax because method invocation is the same as "pass a pointer" outside of static singletons such as this buffer example.
(And many OOP languages that compile to machine code will monomorphize into "pass a pointer to static code" where possible cause it's more efficient than dynamically dispatching on the type of the pointer)
