I've been waiting for five days now for the #BTC #blockchain to download so I can run my (second) #fullnode.
We're halfway there—this is nerve-wracking, man!

On my way to #vimalism (#vim minimalism).
Thanks to learning the standard #unix editor (#ed) I was able to reduce number of my plugins to 7 and get rid of #Neovim (which I used just for pretty markdown rendering which I no longer need).
I am able to handle everything using the VIM magic 😎

I like #Rust but the problem is its steep learning curve. Its fine for side hobby project but only few companies are actually adopting it, because it is much cheaper to write and maintain good quality code in #python or #golang than the whole dev team learn and migrate to rust. Just my experience.

In case you do not know, you should start looking for a new job. Seriously.

To learn #vim properly, start with the standard #UNIX editor :) No need for syntax highlighting. For anything else, use the command line. Formatting text in #golang? No problem. Just run #gofmt directly from #ed.

My life has become much easier since I started using the "bat" utility instead of "cat". Bat is a "Better cAT", offering significant improvements. I use it with other terminal file utilities to display file contents with syntax highlighting, especially alongside "#fd" and "#fzf".
Are you aware of bat? Anyone using it here?

And almost impossible to explain that cloud is just somebody else's computers which need to be maintained as well 😃

After using and paying for Proton Drive by @nprofile…zm4e for a year, I suddenly found nearly all my files (>10k) duplicated with strange "(# Name Clash" in their names, doubling my storage usage.
I opened a support ticket, but they told me to delete all the files manually! I replied that they have no moral right to make me delete tens of thousands of files due to their error and asked for a script to remove the duplicates. They refused.
So, I made my own and am sharing it publicly. Maybe it will help someone.
F*ck you, Proton—you should hire people like me, not these lazy bastards you employ 😎

It's kinda worrying that it's possible to do that with open source.

There are tons of articles or yt videos on how to do that. One of the solutions is eg. https://rss.app/rss-feed/create-twitter-rss-feed
But I did not try any of these. Why would I if I've just left the Twitter? 😉
But I like the idea this option is there.

Im very glad I have leaved Twitter. However, #nostr is not safe from scammers at all. It´s just a matter of time.

2024-03-23 10:11:16 UTC

I've shut down #twitter for good. And rediscovered or rather finally
appreciated RSS. It's AWESOME.
You decide what you want to subscribe to, you make your own feed, you
decide what you want to see. And no ads, free, no one collects my data.
I can't believe I used to have Twitter for this. And the best thing is
that if I want to, I can also follow twitter (reddit, youtube...) accounts via #rss.
It's very refreshing. This is how #freedom works.

I went through the half of the Rust book ... and gave up. It is so complicated that, for me, its better write my own stuff in C.

Only theoretically. AFAIK SegWit enabled an option to somehow compress the data so that more than 1 MB could be used. But all Bitcoin changes are backward compatible so for non segwit adressess 1MB limit must still work.
There were attempts to change the consensus and increase the Block Size limit to 4 MB, but it was rejected (and Bitcoin Cash was born - it has 4MB block size).
So I am really no aware of any change of consensus and I believe 1 MB is still valid otherwise pre-segwit adresses would not work. Or am I missing something?

2024-02-19 09:51:58 UTC

Just downloaded and synced the whole #bitcoin block chain on my #raspibolt bitcoin full-node. More than 600 GB of data! Incredible.
I'm glad the blocksize of the #BTC is still 1MB so everyone can run it's own node on #raspberrypi

For me nostr is primarily all about freedom. Btw lightning/zaping is just an additional NIP feature added to it later.
anyway, this is an UX issue. Id rather see (currently not working) plus button in the middle and solve zaps some other way.
But i admit I am quite demanding :) There is no mobile nostr app I’d really like :D

Btw when will you remove the ugly lightning middle tabbar button? This is what´s irritating me most
