You could add air tubes to your stack to add air exposure to the interior of the pile. This is a good way to make a static compost. That's a reverse osmosis system? Yes, a reverse osmosis system will essentially give you an equivalent to distilled water. 0 ppm anything, or very close to it.
I use a similar system at home for beer brewing connected to a large stockpot with a float valve in order to have 5+ gallons of distilled water on hand at any given time.
Switching to RO water and adding salts to build my water profiles was the single greatest improvement in my homebrew quality I had done.

Thank you! Little bit at a time, develop more each year. Small, thought out steps, building on knowledge and experience year after year. I only have 1/2 acre, but feel like we do pretty good with wat we have. I want to add meat chickens to the mix next year. We have 8 hens, and 5 breeder rabbits (3 does, 2 bucks). I got fodder trees from Nick Ferguson 2 years ago, and propagated them last year and this year. Hoping to grow 50% of their feed this year, and 80% next year.
I am putting in persimmons, asian pears, figs, cherries, apples, seaberry, goumi, adding peaches, plums, and a few other things to the orchard this year.
After doing little for the last 2 years, because of our desire to move out of NJ, and my wife's cancer, I decided we're going to stay for 5 years (now that she's cancer free just to make sure she's out of the woods, so to speak). I figure, I have to develope more while I'm here, just in case

Yeah, it's worked well for the last few years. I screened the wood chips, and added in bunny poo and biochar to make raised beds, and the gardens have done great. Last year I charred some 2x6 boards to make some nice raised beds. We have a Premier1 electric fence around their free range area. I dump a full truck of arborist wood chips out on a section of my yard, put the birds in there for a year, then use that for a garden the next year... This Spring I'm building a permaculture orchard where there at.

Been getting a lot done lately, on top of full time nursing work, on-call just about every weekend, and driving Door Dash/Uber Eats on the way home...
This week, I built a French drain to drain our driveway which catches all the rain runoff from our yard. Unfortunately, I done have a before photo. 5 hours after I finished, my 18yo son drove off the driveway over the grate. Thankfully he didn't break it, but I put a cinder block in the way so he doesn't do it again. Teens 🤦

Then, with the weather coming, and because of a Hawk that took out one of my free range hens, I built an enclosed run/greenhouse for them. I just need to connect the run to the mobile coop. In the spring, I hope to use it to start some plants.

I also had to enclose a screened in porch with plastic to prevent my plumbing from freezing. This was an addition that one of the previous owners installed, but we've had issues with the pipes freezing in the ceiling of that room. So, as a temporary fix, until we're ready to hard scape the room, I put a double layer of plastic over the whole exterior.

Well, it's been a busy week. Earlier this week, my wife had her chemo port removed, so I had the day off. I don't often have the day off, so I took advantage and started one of these Jack Spirko Bioreactor Compost piles.
It's made with mostly wood chips, and a small amount of rabbit manure (as a ratio). I tried to harvest the old wood chips from where I had the chickens for the last year, but while I was gone at work, my wife had a tree company who was working at my neighbors drop the chips on the only available space... Where I meant to harvest the old chips from the chicken run... That's ok though I was still able to get the outskirts, and now I have fresh chips for all sorts of fun this year.
I started out with a 4x16 cattle panel. Jack recommends 3x16 goat fence, but that was $99 vs $37 for the cattle panel.
I then lined the inside with weed blocker and used stainless steel S-clips to hold the cattle panels in a cylinder shape. I overlapped the last section, so close to 15' 4" in circumference.
Then I took a 4in drain pipe and put dozens of holes in it for the center pipe, and 2- 3in x 10ft PVC pipes, cur them to 40" long, and, using a miter saw, cut lots of slits in it for air exchange.
The 4 inch pipe I placed in the middle of the cylinder. I then took 6x 5ft rebar lengths and hammered them a few inches into the ground, spaced evenly around the center pipe, trying to get within a foot of the wall and of the center pipe, and the other additional pipes. The goal is for nowhere within the cylinder to be more then 1 foot from air exchange. Once they were done, I slid the 3in pipes over the rebar.i put paper cups over the ends of the pipes so they wouldn't fill up as I was filling the cylinder.
I then took the remainder of a pile of wool chips we got a few weeks ago, and soaked them in a couple of concrete mixing trays. Once the chips (and leaves) were saturated, I shoveled them into the cylinder. Once I had about 6 inches of chips, I started adding a shovel of rabbit manure (mixed with biochar) into each mixing tray. This helped even the spread over the entire mix.
Once that pile of wood chips was exhausted, I started harvesting from the old chicken run, around the edges of the new wood chips pile, repeating the same soak and then fill, each tray with a scoop of rabbit manure.
Periodicly I would hose down the whole thing until water seeped out from the bottom. You wouldn't believe how much water something like this takes up.
After this week, I will be adding 2 gallons of water daily until it's done. This is to keep the compost from drying out.
The real goal would be to leave this compost for 1 year. The reality is, I will be using this up in the spring to full new beds and top up old ones. I will be starting another one in the spring, which will go for a full year to get the maximum benefit.
This project took me about 8 hours of dedicated time to complete. The rebar, and airflow pipes will be removed and could be used to make a second pile while this one is still cooking, but I think I'm going to wait until the spring in order to have a new batch ready each spring as I'm getting ready to plant out my garden beds.
Things I would do differently at this point...
1) I would have purchased another 3in x 10' PVC pipe and cut them all to 5 feet. This would have allowed me to fill the cattle panels to the top.
2) I started with 3 of the stainless S-clips, but I should have used 6 (they come in a 3 pack from Home Depot). On about day 3 I noticed the middle one of the 3 had snapped in half and was no longer holding its shape. I then added 3 more and it seems more stable, but should have done that from the start.
3) I would have liked to have used the chips that the chickens had been using in their run for the last year, as this likely would have added a lot more biology to the mix.

I've heard that cedar is not good, but not sure why.
What I do is every fall, I collect all the leaves that fall on my property. I either mow them over a few times with the mower or run them through a leaf shredder/blower. I then put them in the large Rubbermaid tubs and then use that as bedding all year round. I do deep bedding, and just layer the shredded leaves on top. this keeps the leaves on my property and makes it so I never have to buy bedding for them, and it makes compost to add back to the garden later.

Rabbits are simple, breed quickly (4 months from impregnation to freezer), take up a small footprint, their waste is amazing for the garden, and they basically taste like chicken breast.

Getting over COVID and finally have the strength to #GSD. Going slow so as not to wipe myself out.
Made a bunch of potting/seed starting soil to transplant my starts and start new seeds. I was taking some dried out Fox Farms Potting soil, adding water to re-hydrate it, crushing Biochar and adding it in (10-20%), and then collecting rabbit manure (20-30%) and mixing that in.
I transplanted all my peppers into 3" pots (for myself) and solo cups (to sell at the street). I'll be starting a small plant/veggie stand this year to offset the cost of purchasing my seeds/supplies.
Starting small with the business goals.

This is my plan too. I've got a few years before I can break free from my 1/2 acre in NJ, but I'm looking to move to a southern State and get some land to start grazing sheep/beef, as well as whatever else I can work into the system.
I'm using my property now as a lab of sorts to practice on mistakes permanent property. Currently raising chickens and rabbits, as well as growing a food forest, and and ever expanding home garden.

Hmm, that's interesting. I always had better results after the first batch...so much so, I would ovten make a starter, then a 3 gallon batch as a large-format starter, just to harvest a large amount of yeast.
I spent years trying to solve the issues I had with beer, and at the time everyone in the homebrew scene was talking about yeast being the second most important thing behind sanitation. Being a Nurse, I am extra careful about sanitation, so that was never the issue. Turns out for me, it was the water that was more important than the yeast.
But before I could figure that out, I spent a few years doing all sorts of different practices regarding yeast, including learning how to plate them out in petri dishes and grow them up from single cells.
Once I turned my attention to water chemistry, everything changed.

What's your goal behind doing that? Unless you're pitching a butt load of yeast, it's just going to delay fermentation start.
If you have healthy yeast, pitch it just a few degrees below goal max ferment temp, and ramp it up. A homebrew batch should be done fermenting in 3-4 days, or you're either pitching too few yeast, poor health yeast, or too cold fermentation temps.
A fast ferment will lead to a cleaner, healthier product.
If you're not saving portions of your yeast cakes, your missing out. It's basically free yeast, and usually in better condition then anything in a package (so long as your sanitary practices are good.)

I've got 3 Silver Fox (2 doe, 1 buck), A Mutt Doe from Polyface Farms, and a cross Buck between the Polyface Doe and a Silver Fox Buck. That's my breeding supply.
Spent the day yesterday cleaning out the "bunny barn" and applying the manure to beds.
I'm almost valuing the manure more then the meat! Sold a few last year as pets. Which helped with feed costs. Thinking of selling manure as well, by the bucket load.

I'm considering converting about 1/3 of our retirement funds over to a BTC ETF with Fidelity.
In general, my thoughts are the money needs to stay within the IRA now, but I'd rather have it in a fund that tracks w/ BTC. Currently just about everything I own in retirement(403b) is in USD backed Mutual funds. (I have a BTC Roth IRA) but can only grow that by the limits allowed each year.
This will diversify my assets somewhat, which I see as a plus, and will tie more of my money to BTC.
What are your thoughts/opinions?

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and came across one where the doc being interviewed (topic was carnivore diet I believe) recommended brushing your teeth with raw honey. Being the sceptic that I am, and hating most industrial products, I started to research this crazy concept of brushing with honey. Though I couldn't find much, what I did find was one study that had people rinse with honey.
The concept is that there are a lot of natural antibiotics in raw, unpasteurized honey, and that can help with oral bacteria that leads to cavities. According to the study, in order for tooth enamel to breakdown, the pH of the surface of the teeth needs to drop below 5.5 and remain there for long enough to cause damage. This happens with many forms of grains and sugars, but honey only drops the pH down to 5.0, and it rebounds quicker than other sugars, therefore not causing tooth decay and providing antimicrobial effect.
I've been brushing my teeth now for over 3 months with nothing but honey. I switched from an electric toothbrush to a standard "Reach" brand toothbrush as well, so not a controlled experiment. But, overall I feel my mouth is much cleaner, with less plaque then I can remember between cleanings...now just waiting for my next cleaning and X-rays for data.

Curious as to why you want to stop caffeine. Not judgmental, just curious. What benefits do you hope to gain, or weaknesses overcome? Why do you think caffeine is something you need to remove from your life?
Not sure I want the answers...I'm already struggling with stopping some of the other items you've listed, lol.
But, onward to a better life. Better living through knowledge and discipline, right?

This video was 2 weeks ago, but finally getting it up. Needed to irrigate the new beds and tie in the new one.
Started planting out the new beds. Doing weed block on one side, none on the other to see the work difference between the two, and if I want to use it in the Future.
Also opened the pool last week!

Same story here. I'm down 35# in the last year. Not strict Carnivore, but I have a mostly Ketovore diet with room for a few beers a week. It's not ideal, but it's sustainable for me and I'm steadily, slowly dropping weight in a lifestyle that doesn't cause me added irritation because I can't enjoy anything. The way I see it, it took me years to put the weight on, I'm in no poor metabolic condition that would force me to make drastic life changes, so I can take years to drop it in a sustainable way.
I am 6'1", and was 178# when I met my wife in 2007. By September 2021, I had hit 240#. I'm now 205# and steadily moving down every month.
I jumpstarted my weight loss with strict Carnivore due to Jack and Dr. Berry. I lost 30#, then rebounded for the next few months and put 10# back on before I settled on a Ketovore diet +a beer now and then. Like I said, not ideal, but sustainable. Cheers!

Sugar is definitely a hard habit to break. For me, it really helped to understand what sugar does in the body, and how it's not necessarily the sugar that's a problem as much as how our bodies respond to it. Elevated blood sugar leads to elevated insulin levels. It's really the body's response with insulin that causes most of the problems in our system. Granted, insulin is necessary for life, but when levels get high and stay high due to our over-consumption of carbohydrates, that's where significant health problems start, like insulin resistance, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and atherosclerosis, kidney disease, cancer, and a Host of neurological problems.

I don't have issues myself, but have heard from many people that getting raw honey from a local apiary and taking a tablespoon every day significantly improved theyr seasonal allergies.
Also, eating a low Carbohydrate diet can minimize inflammation and reduce signs and symptoms of allergies.

You could contact a local tree trimming company for a wood chip drop. Then layer the beans and chips in a Johnson-su compost style, and just let it sit for a year or so.

Found this while cleaning the house. Got it when my Father-in-Law moved away. It sat on a shelf for about a decade. When grabbed Ng stuff for a garage sale, I thought, that's a cool drinking mug. Why not use it?

Thank you so much! Prayers are always appreciated. We know there's only so much we can do, and that the healing comes from God.
I'm mostly recovered from my surgery, and will be meeting with another doc next week about another surgery to fix this one. 😒
I was reluctant to get this one done, but the hernia was getting worse and didn't want it to advance to serious complications. I waited almost 2 months for our schedules to work out for this one surgeon, only to have his first hernia failure in about 10 years. God works in mysterious ways.

Yeah man, been there for a long time now. Like many of us, I'm not doing a lot of brewing anymore. You can probably find a lot of used equipment for cheap on the second-hand market ... Facebook, Craigslist, etc.
Best tips for beginners...
Dry yeast is amazing, don't get sucked into the liquid yeast until you get a bunch of brews under your belt. Lot more to go wrong with liquid yeast.
Sanitation is most important, everything else could be perfect, but if one step isn't properly sanitized, it could ruin everything.
Just because you think you screwed something up, doesn't mean you did. Some of my best beers were screwups. Keep following the process until it's clear the beer is bad.
Once you understand the process, the numbers don't matter much. Take all your readings when you start to understand the process and what's happening, but I rarely take any readings anymore. I just do the process and the beer is what the beer is. Don't stress the numbers.
Try to find a local homebrew group. They will be the best resources you'll find.
Have fun. Be patient. Read some books.
Move to Kegging as soon as you think you really like the hobby. Filling 1 bottle (Keg) is much better than cleaning/disinfecting/filling 50+ bottles.
