Good points. Looking at it from within a democratic society, that seems so. Although, modern history shows poli actors painting far outside the lines ... so they only need enough support to push society into the direction that they want.

A new Con game in wider picture... Is it to take the heat off of PP (w/ SH wolf in sheep's clothing)? Or, is it a push to move further right with JJ as Con leader?

Well, IMHO... Single-industry towns go through economic ups + gut-wrenching downs. Multiple times. Over time, some folks need someone to blame -- and they're susceptible to being taken advantage of.
A town in B.C. is one. Many good people from there moved out during the 1980s economic downturn (and recurring ones). Some of the folks who stayed are currently caught up in a fight against a proposed town name change (FN proposal).... nasty, stoked by a web of big players.

Why? Because Industrial Agriculture is:
🔹mining soils faster than they can regenerate (i.e. soil health)
🔹a system designed to extract wealth from those who work the land, farming families
🔹conventional soil science that often "treats soil as a relatively static substrate... a framework built for industrial systems, not regenerative ones"
🔹develop GMO crops that "don’t necessarily kill biodiversity through the toxins", but (indirectly) "by enabling pest-free" crop "monocultures to proliferate" (built in reduction of biodiversity)
Lundgren states that the revolution in #regenerativeagriculture is happening now

Just as I thought. It was never about the southern neighbour's "national security" to defend aggressive tariffs (both federal governments report majority of illegal substances flowing *north*).
It's about, as stated by their Commerce Secretary: "Canada will pay tariffs unless it opens its market..." (e.g. water, softwood lumber, dairy, critical minerals)
The recent 35% tariff threat across the board is additional pressure.

☔not pleasant when you've on vacay!
But, we've endured heatdomes and heatwaves (38+C) in Vancouver, so I'm grateful for the rain. The showers in Vancouver only really came fully yesterday.
A shame that you may have missed picking up Vessi shoes/sneakers https://vessi.com/ -- company states that they're waterproof. Although I find they're not quite fully waterproof, but still very good.

Why does the PP commit to an industry's "demands'? Does he not work for all Canadians?

Yep. When you listen to what’s beyond his 3-word slogans, his language, intentions and current destruction are same as cheeto, the 🐀 and all. Example:
PP “says he would cut the housing infrastructure fund and the housing accelerator fund (though it's unclear how much money will actually be left in the latter by the time a new government is in place)… would defund the CBC, shutter the Canadian Infrastructure Bank and "dramatically" reduce foreign aid.”
