The last cruise I was on was back in September of 2009. Western Caribbean (Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and a few days at sea). Back then the only internet was via an on-board internet café powered by ship-to-shore radio. It was awful, and really low bandwidth. Only good for email really. It's good that expanding technology has created more options, including via mobile data (3G/4G/5G), and satellite data. Then again, you're supposed to be unplugged and relaxing, not tweeting and scrolling TikTok!

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio just submitted a memo to a US federal court stating that he can deport anyone he wants regardless of whether or not they've been charged or convicted of a crime, purely on the basis of their beliefs. Thought crime. It's not hyperbole to notice that the US is fast approaching Orwell's 1984.
Rubio has worked quickly to establish his own mini-dictatorship at State. His gleeful canceling of hundreds of student visas, eager participation in disappearances and obviously illegal courtroom shenanigans, and more — it is this little weasel that, if the courts let him, get to decide which beliefs are allowed in the country in the future. I'd appreciate if more wallets integrated Cashu into their app. The Cashu Wallet is nice, but the fact that it's a web app makes me very nervous with amounts over 1000 sats. An actual app with perseverance makes a lot more sense for longterm use, IMO. And with that, you can have on-chain, lightning, and ecash all in one.

You'd think if they're already familiar with Bitcoin and lightning and have a lightning wallet, they'd understand the invoice thing and navigate it without difficulty. Perhaps you could add a tutorial page with screenshots that walks them through them basics of copying the invoice and using a wallet to pay it.

I received seven 1 sat zaps 8hrs ago, which I'm assuming are yours. I have my incoming sats routed to a different wallet via my @getalby.com address. So those zaps hit that wallet. Totally fair assessment. Although I will say I doubt that Ukraine would have done such a thing at this particular moment. They desperately need that ceasefire, and an antagonistic strike on Russia's dictator in Moscow would be sure way to ensure that ceasefire never happens.
I'm also not sure that Ukraine has the ability to strike so deep into Russia. Obviously, it could physically be done by small team, but the intelligence needed to effectively plan such a thing is likely out of their reach. Still a possibility to be sure, but IMO its on the bottom part of the list of possibilities.

Client based aggregators make me a little nervous because I always think of Primal and their weird cache server model. Obviously, it could be made a lot smarter and less obstructive, but I think doing that on the client level also negates some of an aggregator's benefit, namely the reduction in data use. If the client is doing it, then all the relays being aggregated are still being downloaded per device. Just some initial thoughts, but I think it's valuable to query these ideas, and brainstorm them because that's how we arrive at great solutions!

I think I like the idea of trending and recommendations being user-definable client options. I think that strikes a good balance between the utility of those features with the necessity of user control and ownership of data. I don't think we have to choose one or the other. We can have both!

I don't use nos.lol, but I have relay.nostr.band set as one of my general relays with read-only access so I'm never writing to it. I just use it to pull content because it's an aggregator, and I save a ton of data useage by just pulling from there as opposed to 7 other big relays.

I haven't used the iOS version of Nunchuk, but I use the Android version and it's been an absolute dream. I love it! It feels like a grown-up wallet for people who know what they're doing, and want a wallet with the flexibility and options to work like a pro. I keep Mycelium installed as a secondary wallet because has the ability to sweep paper wallets, and monitor wallets in watch-only mode.

@nprofile…qmxe is actually a really nice client app. I can see how at first glance it may seem overwhelming, but when you actually dive in and start moving around, you'll see their UX is both beautiful, and intuitive.
It functions very similar to Amethyst, presenting the same feed options, plus some others that give you a lot of flexibility in how you digest the feed. It also happens to be the best client for creating and reading long-form articles, a function that's sorely lacking from Amethyst.
Finally, it has a great wallet system. It provides its own internal wallet making it a great option for onboarding new users, as well as options to call external wallets, or connect your own via NWC. They really covered all the bases.
My biggest gripe, if you can even call it that, is that it's been a little buggy in the past. But their dev team is dedicated, and have addressed bugs quickly. They really are a team you can feel good supporting. I still use Amethyst as my main client app, just because I'm so familiar and comfortable with it, but I use YakiHonne exclusively for long-form articles, and browse with a few times a week, just to keep my finger on the pulse of what's happening. Give it a shot! At the least, it's worth taking a test drive!

I just finished watching #Adolescence on #Netflix, and just wow. What a powerful show. This is one that's unquestionably destined to win a shitload of awards.
Adolescence tells the story of a 13yo boy who's arrested for the murder of a classmate, and the impact on his family who are struggling to understand what happened, and reconcile what he's done with the wonderful child they know and love.
The kid who played the boy is a first-time actor who just completely smashed it out of the park. And the man who plays his father, Stephen Graham, co-created and co-wrote the 4 episode series. I've been a huge fan of Graham since I first watched Snatch!, which he starred in alongside Brad Pitt and Jason Statham. He delivered a truly masterful performance with unmatched depth and passion.
If you have Netflix, I can't recommend this show enough. It's an experience. Otherwise, you can download all 4 episodes from The Pirate Bay. #movies

Well said, and I completely agree. The laws are ultimately a guideline. People can and do act outside the bounds, and are only sometimes held accountable. The grayness as you call it, is a product of human behavior and rationale. But I don't think that reality means we should view the law as a suggestion or an guideline. I think we should strive uphold its principle and preserve its intent. Because when you start chipping away at it, and deciding more and more to act contrary to its letter, it loses its meaning, and becomes irrelevant.

One of the things that scares me is my intestines. When I did a very-low carb diet in the past, where I was taking in <25g of carbs per day, the weight loss was great, but I got diverticulitis and had to have 7in of my colon removed. That was a uniquely awful experience that I'm fully opposed to repeating, so I'm keeping that in mind as I hone in on the best option for me.

I've been playing with it and it's pretty straightforward. It's a self-custodial wallet that backs up an encrypted copy of your seeds to your Proton account. Given their good track-record with encryption and security, I see no reason to not trust the wallet. If something is revealed, and evidence is uncovered, that's a different story, but as it is, it seems to be a perfectly suitable wallet with excellent security geared towards the masses.

This is the clearnet version of Olympus. Not sure how helpful it will be to you. But if you want to connect to Olympus as a peer that's the URI you can use without tor.

Open a channel to the embedded LND node
Overview
This page will walk you through how to open up a channel from another lightning node to the embedded LND node in ZEUS v0.8+.
The embedded node lives on your phone and is usually offline so it doesn't make sense to expose a URI or node address on the lightning network for others to connect to. Instead, you must initiate the peer connection yourself from the embedded node.
Steps
1. From the embedded node, connect to your remote node as a peer
Go to the Open Channel view in ZEUS. You can get there by going to the channels pane in the bottom right corner of the main view. Once you're on the Channels pane, press the plus icon (+) in the top right corner to get to the Open Channel view.
In the Open Channel view, you will now see two tabs in the header: Open Channel and Connect Peer. You can switch between these tabs to change the view accordingly.
From the Connect Peer tab, you will see a Peer input field with a dropdown. By default, it is set to OLYMPUS BY ZEUS, you need to tap on it and select Custom to manually enter the values. Once set to Custom, enter the remote node's pubkey and host, then press the Connect Peer button. If successful, ZEUS will return a message confirming that you've successfully connected to your peer.
2. From the remote node, open up a channel
Now that you've established a peer connection from the embedded node to the remote node, you can now open up a channel from the remote node to the embedded node.
You may also want to consider opening a trusted channel instead so that you don't pay any on-chain fees and reap other benefits.

Oh wait, YOUR Zeus node... I gave you Zeus' node. You just need to get your node URI and paste it in the Add Peer section. I don't use Zeus some I'm not sure exactly where your URI is located, but it should be someplace in node settings.
You only need the URI to establish a peer connection. It's your pubkey @ whatever address:port, like the Olympus URI I just gave you.

I don't think there's such a hybrid all-in-one system because of the additional requirements and complications associated with receiving fiat. I think you would have to create your own system, possibly leveraging an existing Bitcoin payment system, combined with a fiat system, and integrate it into the same UX. I don't think you'd have any trouble using an existing bitcoin merchant solution alongside a seperate fiat system because there really wouldn't be any cross integrations between the two. You could use the UX as the front to direct users to either the bitcoin system, or the fiat system. That's my two sats.
