So, I take a break from here and today I find out the drama regarding Fosstodon from reading @nprofile…pp8p blog post. This is so unfortunate catching up on @nprofile…7s4z and @nprofile…25dv blogs I understand. Thank you both for an amazing instance. I’ve been around since 2018 and moved over here from the default Mastodon instance. Not sure what I will do if it’s true that others are blocking Fosstodon. Very sad but I wish everyone on the team best wishes. 👍

@nprofile…8c6a Funny the timing. A week ago I ordered new lenses after my exam and still waiting as well. The temporary contact lenses are so bad I couldn't use it after three days. Felt like the wrong prescription. Luckily I had a very old prescription monthly lens unused to get me by.

Started doing updates on my Surface Pro 2 as I haven't touched it in a long while.
It's telling me to get ready for Windows 11 😂
No thanks. I think it's just an ad in Windows Update because I find it hard to believe that this old hardware could run it.

It's amazing how many 80s CityPop Japanese albums are on archive.org. It's so easy to build your own offline music library.
There are also some hidden FLAC gems for rock and other genres.

@nprofile…puyn I remember going to Second Cup during my first job in downtown Vancouver. Those lattes were sweet but worth it. I haven't been to a Second Cup in decades but not sure where they are at all here.
Starbucks and Tim Hortons back in the day were so different than they are today. They were actually worth it back then.

This was a nice read about alternative operating systems that are not Windows, Linux or MacOS. Most users could get by with an operating system and browser. That old or current hardware could get extra life.

@nprofile…7dm2 Interesting post. Once a year I clean my spaces and rearrange them thinking I will be more productive. I've been doing this since I was a teen.
I think I love the idea of reorganizing my spaces much more than using them. It's cool for a month but after that, I go back to what I'm comfortable like you, writing elsewhere.

Government wants developers to act like charities instead of a business by building social housing for them. But there is so much red tape, even when they try to convert some developments, it takes years to build them if it even works out.
People have no idea except what they watch on the tv news. These government guys are in there for four years, then a new group get elected and it starts all over again. 🤦

Using GrapheneOS daily has me on a journey with offline music.
VLC has been a great mobile app to use for music. I save the files locally when I'm away from the house and stream at home with Jellyfin.
I also find music that is not on any streaming services. This could be unique mixes and playlists or old songs not available due to copyright laws.
It has been enjoyable customizing my Jellyfin server libraries.
I miss using memory cards like my old Note 9. I could carry all my music.

I found an old Sansa Clip 2GB from my old days of using a mp3 player for dog walks. There is one podcast on it, from 2011, John Siracusa and Dan Benjamin, Hypercritical from 5BY5. Episode 20.
Don't think that podcast is around anymore. I'm surprised it just boots up connected to a MacBook Air.
One album, The Game's - The Documentary. It's been on here since 2007 from the get info properties window. Wow. This device was released 2007.
This thing has been sitting in my drawer for years.

So I have this old iPod Nano and wanted to sync a playlist from Apple Music using the Music app. Not sure what is happening because nothing is syncing.
Did Apple stop supporting iPods?
I'm using the iPod Nano 5th generation. It shows up in the Finder and Music app but nothing happens when I click the Sync button.

Tonight I finally switched to my Pixel 7 with GrapheneOS as my main phone. No more two phones and no more iOS. It feels so refreshing.
Unfortunately that meant sandboxing certain apps like banking and smarthome apps for the cameras.
Selling the other phones now and continuing to declutter.

I can't imagine how much new car prices will increase around the world. But in my country of Canada, car prices are already at an all time high. I can't believe how many vehicles are close to or over $100K.
I can see the used car market booming with values increasing as well. So, where does this leave North Americans? We all need cars to get around, we are not rich enough to live in the city where we work. Unfortunately all the good jobs are in the city.
Transit funding is so poor here.
