I’m leaving for a while.
Trekking in the Himalaya.
Climbing to higher than I’ve ever been.
I wouldn’t normally post about travel, but I don’t want you to wonder where I went.
This trip has been a long time in the making.
It relates to my past, my father, my spiritual path.
When I publish something about the experience, I hope you’ll read it.
That might take a while though.
Anyway, I’ll be back in November with some big news to share.
Until then, be well.

Hey, yes, you can buy the audio book for sats via @nprofile…6jar here:
https://fanfares.io/s/lSF8Ss#pay
(It allows you to download the files)
Our second book, Financial Fallout, is coming out on audiobook in a week or so!
The Treasury of Saylor has Anil's typical graphics and simple layouts. It tells the story of how Saylor came to Bitcoin. Good for trad-fi types and boomers. A very quick read too.

You take a lot of Ls with Bitcoin.
The first meetup I organised in April 2025 had 16 attendees.
Yesterday, just one person showed up.
Part of my role in Bitcoin is building communities, but my energy has been very low recently.
Time to regroup and recharge...

2026-08-23 20:17:02 UTC

Thought I would share my Based Points™ (points-based) system for improving my long-term health and fitness.
My goal is to maintain mobility, cardio, and muscle mass into my 50s and 60s (am 41 now). I'm in worse shape than when I was 30, but overall OK.
Like just about everyone, I struggle with overeating, apathy, vices like alcohol, and lack of routine.
When I was in my mid 20s, I developed a points-based system to motivate me to exercise more. I found it helped me, so I amended is for this, my fifth decade on Earth.
I've adapted it to include other elements because now I sit on my arse at home all day at work. Plus, my metabolism ain't what it used to be.
OK, here goes.
**BASED POINTS**
**objectives**
* Earn points to meet selected target (e.g., 2, 4, or 6 points)
* Do better than last week's total.
* Continue every week.
**plus points**
* Walk (>10k steps) 0.5
* Hike (>20k steps) 1.5
* Yoga (1hr) 1
* Gym (1hr+) 1
* Swim (25m+) 1
* Padel (90m) 1
* Run (40m+) 1
* Fast (24 hrs) 1.5
**minus points**
* Walk <5k steps -0.5
* Eat before 12pm or after 8pm -0.5
" Drinking Alcohol (1-3 drinks) -1
* Drinking Alcohol (4+ drinks) -2
***
**Progress**
Check out the whiteboard I keep my fridge to keep track of my points.
This week, I did pretty well with 4.5 points.
My top goal is usually 6 points.
4 points is decent.
2 is meh.
0 is a fail.
Minus points is an EPIC FAIL.
My average is about 3.5.
***
**Learnings**
1. This system is adaptable for anyone, based on their needs.
2. Keeping score with a whiteboard on your fridge is key. You must physically write the score each day.
3. The system is flexible, you can add in targets or minus points and amend them to make them harder (don't amend them to make them easier).
4. If you fall off the wagon, or go crazy drinking at a conference, just start again. Earn more points the next week.
Overall, it's something that I found sustainable. It's not for getting rock hard abs, marathon training, or losing 50lbs. Just aiming to keep on the straight and narrow.
After 4 months so far, I can't say I'm crushing it. I have maintained weight, shape and fitness through the ups and downs.
But I do make healthier daily choices. I don't have late night feasts, I rarely skip the gym or yoga, I drink alcohol free beer.
***
Thanks for reading.
Wouod you gamify health like this?
How would you apply the system?

Don't get me wrong, many of them offer well executed solutions to genuine problems. But in a world of a million launches a day, a functional tool is not enough.
There is no value in the software itself.
Nowadays, you need strong branding, human-centric visuals and copy, and an active community of users to achieve PMF.

Kahlil Gibran wrote 'The Prophet' in under one day, but it took him 11 years to finish it.
How?
In a 1930s interview with a small Alabama newspaper, Gibran admitted that each of the 26 chapters took just 30 minutes to write. Less than one full day of writing in total.
One by one, they flowed out as fully formed and beautifully expressed life lessons. But it wasn't quick.
The lessons, work, and inspiration which formed the chapters arrived slowly. He first started work on the book in 1912, and it was finally published in 1923.
Deep meaning must be lived and processed.
This can take a whole life. The click of a button after a few simple prompts creates the illusion of meaning.
I'm rereading this short book of wisdom over 100 years after it was published. All the lessons still apply.
Because truth is timeless.

I spent months figuring out how to pay a rubbish tax in Spain (about 200 dollars for the year).
Finally succeeded in paying and setting a direct debit for future years.
Now the whole thing has been declared illegal by the community government, and I have to fill out another form to get the money back.
All this info comes from the newspaper, not the actual government. No communication. No guides. No automatic refund.
At this point, I just give up with administration here. Steal my money and just don't make me spend days chasing my tail.

After almost 10 years as a freelance educator, editor, and writer, I am pretty much unemployable.
My moral compass stops me from hitting 'apply' to any fiat jobs.
I wouldn't be able to avoid calling 'bullshit' 20 times a day.
In that time, I have applied for exactly 2 jobs in Bitcoin.
I love the variety of working with different clients - freedom tech apps, books about Nostr, consultants, mining companies, and more.
Still, I'm feeling the call for a long-term build.
I'd love to join a freedom-tech or bitcoin project that aligns with my unshakeable moral compass.
Just 'clocking in' every day to work with a stable team on reaching 10-year goals would be cool.
This could be in marketing, community building, content, biz dev, strategy. I'm not really sure.
I don't really believe in 9-5 Bitcoin jobs, and I'm not asking for one.
Just wanted to share that I'm open to chat about long-horizon missions, not projects looking to stay alive until next month.

Parallel
(a poem)
Two lines stretch
Running to infinity
Set to different speeds.
One runs in minutes
The other in blocks
These lines will never meet.
From a distance, fine thread
Zoom in, whole galaxies appear
Stars and planets, all moving at the speed of time.
Between, lies an ocean of dark,
Impossible to cross
And yet, I swim with others
Floating free.
Looking back, past years fade
Ahead, the future blurs
But for those like me
Who navigate the space between
Who reach the frontier of true time,
… we see.
We trace the past in perfect record
The future forms in never-ending zeros and ones.
And in our world, campfires burn
Surrounded by huddles of
Time-travelling psychonauts,
Sharing our escape routes from
The march towards death.
We talk of next century
We watch the stars and dream.
Across the divide,
The mainline races forward
Gaining pace but losing mass
Traveller by traveller.
Piece by piece.
A change occurs in every one
Who swims the universe
Feels the pull of their tether
Ignores the force that draws them back
And cuts loose.
We leave the noise of nations
For the resonance of work.
We trade consumption for construction
Publish ideas; verify truth.
We find abundance
In the vacuum of space.
Yet for us, the early few,
Craftsmen, explorers
We are held between
These parallel lines.
Our loved ones watch us take the strain
As gravity pulls us in a million different directions.
We bridge the distance
And hold these lines together.
With all our strength, we close the gap
Inch by inch, block by block,
Then others join and take the leap
Leave the world they knew behind
And together,
We build eternity.

A Lodging of Wayfaring Men by Paul Rosenberg, in short:
1. A group of programmers and businessmen get tired of asking permission to live. They build an encrypted marketplace where anyone can trade, publish, and organize anonymously. No names, no jurisdiction, nothing to subpoena. Within weeks, the market has its ten-thousandth customer. The year is 2002.
2. The state notices the only way it can: tax receipts stop matching the economy. A classified memo admits someone has built "a fully-encrypted form of electronic cash" and that the agency isn't sure what an e-cash file would even look like. The state can only fight what it can see.
3. The FBI agent assigned to hunt the founders is written as a decent, intelligent man (which is rare in political fiction). The book makes you watch him slowly as you realize he was sent to destroy the best people he has ever studied. By the end of the book, he is on their side.
4. The founders never fire a shot. They win by being useful: arbitration instead of courts, restitution instead of prisons, entry gated by trust alone — if no one trusts you, you can't get in. Every merchant who joins is one more person the old world has lost, and no army can invade a market it can't find.
5. The cost is real, and the book refuses to hide it. Opting out means losing friends who think you're a criminal and carrying the moral weight that citizens never feel because they've outsourced it. "If you want to be great, you must be willing to be called evil."
6. Originally published in 2002: six years before the bitcoin launch, nine before Silk Road. Encrypted cash, anonymous markets, reputation as collateral, exit as strategy. The author published it all anonymously, and reality plagiarized him.
7. Rosenberg's message is that the state doesn't need to be defeated. Institutions die when the people they feed on walk away. The title is from Jeremiah: "Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them." Millions are living that verse right now. Most of them have never heard the book's name.

I could probably be making 5 times the money I do if I worked in crypto.
This writer is the kind of skilled creative we need in Bitcoin, but she chose to shill ICOs, hype up malevolent founders and fool cryptard communities into swapping good money for bad.
In Bitcoin, we don't need Satoshi stories. The transformation offered by sound money is obvious.
We do need stories, but we must draw out the right ones and use them wisely.

Bitcoin books are boring.
To my mind, we don't need books which explain what it is, and why it's necessary. We already have enough.
However, we do need more nuanced takes. More narratives that connect Bitcoin to freedom.
I'd like to read more books on privacy, freedom tech, homesteading, sovereign health, stoicism, self-improvement, and financial education.
If you are writing on these topics, check the new Konsenses site.
https://konsensus.net/
Yes, I'm an editor there, so I'm biased, but over the last 7 years, Konsensus has worked with some of the best-known authors in the Bitcoin and freedom tech space, publishing over 100 titles.
@nprofile…h4hk, @nprofile…v6tq, @nprofile…u7e3, @nprofile…5krg to name but a few.
The submissions process for publishing is now easier and more transparent.
We'll get back to you within one week, and we only work with freedom and self-sovereignty authors.
That means we know how to represent entropy on a book cover and not to edit out terms like 'absolute scarcity'.
Our projects generally go from manuscript to book in hand in less than 3 months.
Plus, we are staffed by real humans (like me).

My dad was never really keen on Father's Day. Didn't make a big deal out of it.
He was difficult to buy presents for too (we always got him a card).
He and I used to hike together.
Wales, France, Italy, Scotland.
I have him to thank for my connection to mountains and my patience to stay the course.
Today, I got back from 4 days hiking, and in October, I'm going to Nepal for a 2-week trek. He'll be there in spirit, and we'll walk the trail together.

2026-05-01 14:49:15 UTC

- reply

Some of the comments here are so disappointing. There are many great advocates for nostr who are not devs.
Creatives, writers, marketers and other professionals need the right incentives to donate their time and effort. Bitcoin itself offers enough stored value to free up time - that's why it attracts time-investment from many deep skillsets (not just technical types).
Nostr is great. It offers a wonderful network of freedom-minded people. It offers hope for a decentralized better digital world. But, at the moment, it does not incentivise experts to invest time without any ownership in the clients and services they promote. I hope this changes in time.
But rather than create a pile on by pointing the finger at those not donating their life to nostr, why not ask what they need to come on board?

2026-04-30 20:24:42 UTC

Bitcoin needs stories to win.
I am absolutely convinced of this.
Today, I see virtually zero new stories emerging. Not from conferences, not from educators, not from companies, not from builders. Not even from writers.
Problem ➡️ solution is NOT a story.
No characters. No struggle. No happily ever after.
... no one cares about your product, service, or app.
Most people in the world are not economists, developers, or even realists.
They only care when something hacks their emotions.
Give them a good story, and you make them care.
Yes, we must build, but without stories, we are just idealists writing code for solutions that will never be implemented.

Another App... really?
The idea is to collate the best sources of Bitcoin live data, add calculators and pleb tools, list curated bitcoin-only links, and add some educational resources for beginners.
Nostriches will be more interested in the advanced section.
We'll be adding tons more features soon (e.g. mining stats and calculator). If you have any ideas for additions, please let us know.

📢 *** WE ARE HIRING *** 📢
Head of Content (Bitcoin company)
Are you a laser-eyed marketing rockstar on a mission to flood our feeds with incessant 30-second reels and monetary catchphrases? 😁
(We also accept writing ninjas, social gurus, and growth wizards)
Our company is on a mission to orange-pill the world through an untested and unsustainable education model consisting of 80% huff and 20% puff. 🌬️
We recently received an endowment from a Bitcoin Whale, and if all team members cover 3-5 jobs each, we’re hoping we can eek it out for an entire cycle.
Many educators have tried before us (and have found Bitcoin is a bit too complicated to explain in a few snappy tweets and 30-second reels), but this time it’s different!
No Signal. No noise. Just buzzwords! 👌
🤓 THE ROLE
- Managing all the content, flows, and diagnostics for our education platform
- Managing our 7 social accounts — high-volume content, interaction, performance reporting
- Content strategy and customer acquisition — funnels, email marketing, conferences
- Newsletters, blogs, interviews, and presentations for our CEO
Weekly podcast production, editing, and repurposing
- Video automation — script production, editing, distribution
- Attending daily meetings with operations, dev team, CMO, partnerships team, and our 15 freelancers
OUR COMPANY
Our company delivers innovative edu-tech solutions like telling the world about Bitcoin and disrupting the industry (we just don’t know how yet). We’re thinking of harnessing more rocket-ship emojis. 🚀🚀🚀
We operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. By ‘dynamic’, we mean that awkward meeting at a conference once per year, ‘fast-paced’ = 60-75 hours work per week (inc. weekends), and the environment is mostly Slack, Telegram, and Google Meet.
💡 THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You must be specialised in pre-AI systems and thinking, an expert marketer and writer, a self-starter, sovereign individual AND team coordinator who is also immensely proficient in running AI teams and agents.
You are likely a technically minded engineer who was mining in 2010-11 but sold/lost all your bitcoin and is now desperate to spend 60 hours a week working for 150 Bangladeshi takas per month (salary to be discussed).
Come on. What do you expect?
We’re in a bear market, and WE ARE STILL EARLY.
HOW TO APPLY
Do two days of work for free to deliver a full 2026-7 marketing strategy dossier and two 1500-word blogs on our brand new platform (no information provided).
Or maybe there will be no writing tasks at all. We've never actually hired anyone before, so we’re not sure how it works. 🤷‍♀️
Don’t bother with a CV or cover letter; we just look at how many followers you have on X.
Tell us your salary expectations. To help you match our ballpark figure, we’ll give you a hint. There is no formal contract, you get paid in Bitcoin, and you’ll receive no benefits (LOL pensions).
Just to let you know, we have no more capital to hire coworkers until 2030.
In fact, if you know any investors, put us in touch!
The best candidates will be invited to meet on Zoom separately with each of our 4 team members at intervals of 4-6 weeks.
After this process, the team will discuss whether hiring you or buying more Claude tokens is more beneficial to our company’s strategy and bottom line.
Good luck bitcoiner.
And remember, we are all Satoshi. 🙏

PARALLEL (a poem)
by Totally Human Writer
***
Two lines stretch
Running to infinity
Set to different speeds.
One counts in minutes
The other in blocks
These lines will never meet.
From a distance, fine thread
Zoom in, and whole galaxies appear
Stars and planets, all moving at the speed of time.
Between, lies an ocean of dark,
Impossible to cross
And yet, I swim with others
Floating free.
Looking back, past years fade
Ahead, the future blurs
But for those like me
Who navigate the space between
Who reach the frontier of true time,
…we see.
We trace the past in perfect record
The future forms in never-ending zeros and ones.
And in our world, campfires burn
Surrounded by huddles of
Time-traveling psychonauts,
Sharing our escape routes from
The march towards death.
We talk of next century
We watch the stars and dream.
Across the divide,
The mainline races forward
Gaining pace but losing mass
Traveler by traveler.
Piece by piece.
A change occurs in every one
Who swims the universe
Feels the pull of their tether
Ignores the force that draws them back
And cuts loose.
We leave the noise of nations
For the quiet hum of work.
We trade consumption for construction
Publish ideas; verify truth.
We find abundance
In the vacuum of space.
Yet for us, the early few,
Craftsmen, explorers,
We are held between
These parallel lines.
Our loved ones watch us take the strain
As gravity pulls us in a million different directions.
We bridge the distance
And hold these lines together.
With all our strength, we close the gap
Inch by inch, block by block,
Then others join and take the leap
Leave the world they knew behind
And together, we build eternity.
