Coffee was spilled on my Macbook Air M2 15".
I'm not going to lay blame. It was an accident. But by the time I got to the scene, about 60 seconds had passed, and the damage was done.
I do have AppleCare+ for it, but after dropping the computer off at an Apple service centre yesterday, I have to pay the $379 (Canada) rate for liquid damage to main body. They are going to basically replace everything below the screen, except for the fans (I didn't think the MBA 15" M2 had fans?). Logic board, keyboard, trackpad, battery, touch id, cpu, memory, ssd, top case, the works. Surprised they aren't just swapping it for a new MBA.
Very expensive cup of coffee.
But I guess it could have been worse if I didn't have AppleCare+.
Makes me wonder why Apple can't make a IP rated water resistant notebook computer.

For visual #creatives, it really is about trust. I no longer have a lot of trust in #adobe for anything. They run spy software on my computers constantly (to make sure I'm properly paying them their pound of flesh), no longer actually sell licenses of their software (it's all take money monthly) and in Canada, their service and support sucks even worse than the US service.
I would love an alternative to Lightroom. I already found one for photoshop and illustrator. But with well over 150,000 photos in Lightroom, I'm trapped. And I don't like it.

the next #F1 race is probably going to be even more boring and predictable. It's at Monaco, a track that just doesn't suit the massive, bloated sizes that F1 cars have become in the past 15 years. No passing, no battles, not much of anything, unless it rains. Not even sure I'll watch it. Prediction: Max will win by 15 seconds. ;)

Possibly the most boring #F1 race of the season so far, for fans watching. No action, no real battles, Max having a 5 second lead most of the race.
I honestly believe Max lifted a bit in the last 10 laps just to make it 'interesting' for Lando to catch up. the win was never, ever in doubt.
I watched the 2 hour race in about 25 minutes, fast forwarding thru most of my recording of it on PVR.
Yawn.

Honestly tho, if you own a Sette 270Wi for espresso (I bought mine for the home setup), you'll wonder why anyone single doses ;) It's got an Acaia scale, built right in! :) And IMO, it's still one of the top conical burr grinders for espresso on the market today, in terms of output.

For our home machine, only 2-3 doubles a day.
In our lab, as much as 50 or more doubles pulled on some days.
I have on demand grinders in both spaces. I still prefer them over single dosing. The hoppers hold about 3 days' worth of coffee, or enough for about 12 double shots.

I am no fan of single dosing. I like accurate grinders with zero retention that can grind on demand. This is why my main home espresso grinder is a Baratza Sette 270wi. On demand. Zero retention. Accurate to .1g doses.

I mean, if you're going to take the whole "the grinder is the most important part of the equation" thing seriously, why not prove it. ;)
Rancilio Stile grinder paired up with a Breville Bambino Plus. The PF almost sort of works in the Stile's PF holder. 7.1sec gives 17.5g dose.

afaik, Synesso has never shown an interest in doing this. And I know the company's founder; I knew him when he started the company, so I go way back with them. Plus anyone who reviews it would have to have 220 volt power and the ability to plumb the machine in.

Lance Stroll and the Stroll family are a bit of an embarrassment to Canadian #F1 fans. As a country, I think most of us do not like nepotism, and feel people need to earn their own way in life.
This is why our country was solidly behind Jacques Villeneuve back in the day. Sure Jacques had an ultra famous name and father, but JV earned his own way in #F1, becoming a world champion.
Stroll is just a spoiled rich kid playing with Dad's money. He has no place in F1. And he proved even more so today, calling Danny Ric an idiot, and not taking one iota of the blame for his own stupid driving mistake.

Most folks can hit 100rpm with a bit of effort.
I'm assuming. I may have to try timing that. Most people just measure via dose (ie, 18g takes 45 seconds at espresso grind settings, that kind of thing)

There's a few portable, USB-C powered grinders coming to market this year. The Varia Hybrid, Staresso's new model, and a few others.
But they all have the same problem: the motors used in the rechargeable "bricks" each grinder have are
a) underpowered
b) low wattage output (40W or less)
c) extremely slow RPMs (like half of hand grinding crank speed.
Until these motorized units can actually speed up the grinding action, they are a weak novelty.

one more point on this I am aware that the Saeco website has tried to revise history by claiming they started developing a bean to cup machine in 1985. That may be true on the drawing board but they did not sell that machine until the mid late 90s. I actually called out one of their senior people at a trade show about this a couple years ago. I asked for proof and they had none. They did point me to some patents but the ones I saw were from the early 1990s.

there was no Saeco superautomatica in 1985. I am familiar with that machine. It came out in the late 1990s and was one of the first consumer super automatics.
