AFAIK and IIRC the only weapons test Israel has ever attempted was an ocean test in the far southern ocean that was intially registered as a seismic anomaly. Leaving aside that the US at least tacitly assisted, and that there have been what are probably deliberate leaks, there is no actual proof that Israel has a nuclear weapons program. You can't just walk around the Sinai with a geiger counter and be like, oh, there they are, sanctions.

They just didn't want people to take sick days. Same company got in trouble with the labor board because their "culture" was you worked 45 hours a week, even though your contract said 40. The designers sued them and got back pay, but we engineers just got dirty looks if we didn't clock OVER 40 hours every week. Very frowned upon to clock exactly 40.0 and I was always like WTF, that's what you PAY ME for.

my employer used to set up a tent just inside the gate and give away flu shots to anyone who would take them. Which was good.
They also ran a rewards program if you didn't take sick days. Which was bad. I had to fight with one of my direct reports once who was like no, if I go home I lose my incentive, and I was like I don't give a shit you just dripped snot on my desk I'm putting you in for a sick day no matter what you do, so go fucking home.

But again, familiarity with the manual of arms makes all the difference. I can reload my SKS with stripper clips and maintain a continuous rate of fire on par with any magazine fed semi-auto rifle. I can hit an 8" plate at 100 yards with a rifled slug from a 12 gauge shotgun 9/10 times.
The action of the weapon is of very little consequence. Not NONE, mind you, but very little.

Meh, sorta. A pump action shotgun is nearly as effective as a semi-auto rifle. Competence with the manual of arms is a requirement for ANY weapon.
Vegas was bad because that guy had a solid plan, the high ground, and a fortified position. Sure, bumpstocks on ARs helped, but it was mostly because he was elevated and hard to stop.

so i think the thing with maples is the taps are sized to make the smallest possible wound that will flow, and they limit the number of taps per tree. There's also something about having them on the same side, I think. The idea being that if you look at a cross section of the trunk, the sap flows in a ring all around the perimeter and the amount you're taking is proportional to the amount of that circle you're distrupting. So a single tap is like 2% of the trees capability. I think.

I learned of this because I tried to make pine sap adhesive from the trees in my yard. I was walking around looking at the trees, noticing a lot of mold, but also a lot of drippy sap coming from where I had trimmed lower branches the year before. I poked into the wounds with a stick and found the moth maggots. The sap/resin looks like it has little brown balls of poop in it, clearly visible. I should have treated the trees with something after I trimmed them.

Do also note that damage to pine bark is the primary access route for pine-bark moths to lay their eggs in trees. Pine-bark moth larva will live inside the wound until they pupate, feeding on the pine sap and excreting into the outflowing wound, which ruins the pine sap for adhesive use. These larva infested wounds are also a route of entry for the white molds you see growing on sap, and can kill the tree.
Wounds should be covered with something to allow them to heal.

I moved to NOLA right after Katrina and one of the things that I was struck by was the very real sense of tragedy and loss felt by the community over those housing projects. Like, as a white yankee, where we tore down our much vilified projects in the 80s, it was weird to see people really nostalgic for what can reasonably be called a ghetto. Even when I went to rehab, there were people like sure I bought crack and got shot there but it was a great place.
