#WordWeavers 2/5. If you found out that someone had to live your MC's life (like in the "Stranger than Fiction" movie), would you change the story?
Oh man, nobody ever knows this movie. But it was so good! And as a writer, so gripping!
If you are one of those who doesn't know it, watch it! Seriously, so intriguing.
Anyway, to the actual question...No. Partially because I always give my MCs happy endings, anyway, so I wouldn't have to worry too much.

#WritersCoffeeClub 1/5 How do you choose the POV for a new story?
The story comes to me with this more or less decided.
I see everything through my character's eyes...although, even that's not quite right.
It's like the character is telling me their story. Sometimes a secondary character becomes more important that I originally realized and I have to adjust things, but still.
I just write down the story as my characters open up to me. Who and how they choose to tell it is up to them.

#WordWeavers 12/15 How much profanity do you include in your stories, and why?
Earth profanity - none.
I do, however, enjoy making up curses that are connected to a world's lore for my characters to use. And they do use them to varying degrees based on the character (Winlow is a potty mouth lol)
Why? Mainly because I don't really curse. Occasionally one will slip out, but I work with kids. It's just easier to not have certain words in my vocabulary so I don't say them around a child.

#WritersCoffeeClub 6/11. Who sees your WIP before it's done?
My husband. He gets a finished first draft, but that's the earliest point I let any other eyes on the whole thing.
I might share a snippet here or there while drafting with one of my writing groups. But no more than a chapter if I'm having trouble and want their help with something.
But if you mean done-done, then my beta readers would count.

#WritersCoffeeClub 11/24. What's the most challenging part of the writing process for you?
Probably world building.
My stories are intensely character driven, so they're my whole focus the first couple drafts, and I build their story without much concern for the setting of their story. So they usually end up in a very flat world. I have to put a lot of effort into making the setting for my story feel real, interesting and diverse.
I think I do a good job once I put in the effort, though.

#WordWeavers 11/10. If your MC were an animal, which one?
Beckett would be a dog. But very specifically one like my dog.
Friendly, fun, smart, loyal.
But with trauma from his past that comes out at unexpected times, causing him to react with fear at things that may make people think he's a coward or broken.
But with love and compassion, he can learn that those things that once hurt him can be safe. He just needs to trust the hand that wields the stick.
