Those who self-host email, what are you using as an SMTP relay? I was using SendGrid but apparently they moved to end the free tier. SES appears to have done they same. I don't need high-volume, just a relay that is somewhat reputable.

actually, should I use sudo -u amavis or would sa-learn --username=amavis work?
I tried using the former and was getting permissions errors on accessing my /srv/vmail folder, so wasn't surprised.

this might be the best piece of advice I've seen about bayes, and it's the simplest. I've been training as root for YEARS, and wondering why nothing seems to move the needle.
I actually came across this post last night (https://serverfault.com/questions/1046512/spamassassin-working-but-not-learning-bayes-filter-accuracy-is-not-improving) and realized they were using the amavis user.
I'm assuming this is the correct user.
I'm re-running my sa-learn commands using the --username=amavis flag and it's adding brand new tokens, so hopefully this shows promise.

Is it me or is BAYES for Spamassassin absolutely useless? It seems to tag spam as ham just as much as it tags ham as spam.
I have it trained on thousands and thousands of spam/ham emails, too. No difference.

my only thought is resolution is falling-back to IPv4 if it tries IPv6 first? Again, I have a knowledge gap to fill. I don't know how resolution is handled if devices are dual-stack with IPv4 and IPv6, and my DNS is only handling IPv4.
