Ah, so the Flatpak version of the Video player for Fedora/Gnome works, as it includes the codecs, but it won't play or access network files when connecting via SMB - I need to mount the volume first.
Maybe I should try Ubuntu or a distro that already has this shit sorted out.
Still, I really like Linux - just working through growing pains. Really does feel like I have to assemble the whole car, or at least swap out the broken parts.
