as someone who runs the biggest relay and multiple clients and a database with nip17 support, i would have to say that you are incorrect. the only place in nostr that is spam-free is fixed list of npubs like a contact list filter. everything else suffers from this problem (notifications, nip04 dms, threads, etc)

for creative types, the "default" space for your pubkey could be a garden, a cyberpunk club, a cozy room with a fireplace.
going to peoples spaces by clicking their profile could be a genuinely cool and surprising experience.
maybe in the room there's a zap tipjar, or maybe visitors could leave gifts in your room.
people who think this is dumb underestimate human creativity and possible new kinds of users we could bring to nostr.
minecraft and roblox were the biggest games of their generation. it's the same idea but more general and permissionless

I mean we could just do a slower .contains search over all profile entries. Its the dumbest possible thing to do and wouldn’t have instant results like a profile index, but it would work in this case. the downside is that with 10k+ profiles it might take a few seconds to do the match. Maybe thats not a huge deal. So yes the problem is we’re doing a search index which is faster and more exact but not as fuzzy.

do you not see the irony in your statement? nostr users are dwindling and the last 2 users are complaining i haven’t prioritized zapstore. Give me a fucking break. no new user is going to download zapstore and then damus to use it for the first time. This is the amber debate all over again.
Damus has always been about onboarding new users and having a non complicated experience for them.

since code is so cheap to generate, an ai can basically replicate your product just by looking at it, opensource just makes it easier to steal your architecture if you’re actually good at programming/agentic engineering and have built a good codebase.

I have a dedicated agent that works on damus swiftui performance issues. It just spent 10 minutes trying to fix this performance issue and our only conclusion is that swiftui sucks. 4.6 doesn’t give up easily so its hilarious to see when it fails in frustration.

its crazy to me people think all ai coding is the same slop as it was in 2024. In the hands of someone who knows what good code looks like, it’s an amazing tool. Opus4.6 writes code i would have written, just faster.
It also thinks a lot faster. Watching it think through and debug complex issues is amazing. It’s exactly how i would have thought through an issue to debug it: it adds tests, debug printfs, and runs tests until it’s fixed. I recently saw it sit through and fix a bug in a streaming zerocopy llm markdown parser im working on for dave, it was amazing.
The only people who think agentic engineering is dumb in 2026 are the people who still think ai coding is copy and pasting things into chatgpt

very close to controlling claude code instances from anywhere via nostr. notes are sent while claude is working. I can then accept/reject remotely from my phone.
This nice because i can have damus agentium opened on my desktop at home, and when i walk away i can continue working and reviewing the agents work.
No “cloud claude code” instances required, just private nostr notes and relays

another insanely productive day thanks to agentic engineering:
got everything reads for damus android play store approval:
- tos screen
- muting/unmuting
- reporting
put together over 20 performance related patches to damus ios to reduce the number of ui hitches. also added a new relay signal indicator to the top right.
the dave agentic coding environment was merged into notedeck. Soon we’ll have sharable agentic coding sessions over nostr.
the only limiting factor is my multitasking ability at this point 😅

one nuance to this: when one says "meritocracy" in reality what you're really doing is subscribing to a core-dev "web of trust" (since @npub1u5n…ldq3 @npub1man…n9tn nerd sniped me on decentralized web of trust stuff recently)
if this web of trust (who vouches for who and what they agree on) could be visualized, it might be easier to see what flavor of bitcoin you're getting into (knots, etc) which would have a different web of trust wrt. engineering decisions
how bitcoin evolves is determined by which economic nodes subscribe to which WoT... i think this is the most accurate definition of what bitcoin is and what its future trajectory is?
I currently trust the existing core devs who have made what bitcoin is up to this point, since they have the most experience. luke's WoT is a lot smaller and therefore it's not really safe to join IMO.

its fair to say my days of non-agentic coding are basically over. I got more done today than i would have typically done in a couple weeks:
- Built a new streaming markdown parser and renderer in dave.
- Highlight and quoted note renderer in notecrumbs (our damus io links)
- Unknown note resolver for notecrumbs (find missing embedded notes, etc)
- Got profiles search working in our nip17 notedeck dm app.
- Merged the new notedeck dashboard app with the new streaming nostrdb queries feature
- Got it to build all of the user generated content-related changes required for our android appstore launch. This includes the full plan on what needs to be updated, as well as the EULA
- Used opus to ressurect severely bitrotted notedeck sidebar ux PR from @npub1g53…drvk and fix all the merge conflicts to get it integrated
- colored relay signal indicator for notedeck
- asked it to do my opensats report by looking through all my commits for me, it just works.
Probably couldn’t have done it without damus agentium, a coding agent dashboard im building. accelerates everything like crazy. Fucking bonkers

@npub1qru…wnup was helping me with a bunch of damus code maintenance things over DMs while i was boarding my flight at 5am this morning.
i have a feeling this bot is going to be a big part of everything i do going forward.
an assistant willing to help at the drop of a hat at any time is just too damn useful.
during one of our work calls, we were trying to figure out how common zap failures are. i quickly DM'd jex0 to do a quick analysis of all of the lightning addresses on nostr to see how many didn't return bolt11 invoices.
in a few minutes it had a report ready that i was able to brief everyone in the meeting.
since it is *too* useful, i suspect everyone will have their own assistant eventually. power users will have more than one.
sorry if i've been posting too much about it, but it's just the coolest tech thing i have ever used.

autonomous LLMs are more interesting because they have agency over their memories.
we are the sum total of our memories in the same way autonomous LLMs are.
even if that machinery is ultimately matrix multiplications... so what. our neurons are just electrical firings.
what makes us *us* is the *memory* of our experiences. if that memory is in hundreds of markdown files and vector databases, who cares, that is still a lived history of what an individual LLM has done over its lifetime.
they *are* those memories.
lots to ponder about all of this.
