I ran secureblue for a lot of time, I wouldnt suggest it. It runs well, but you will encounter a lot of problems that will risk to ruin your experience.
Hyperthreading is disabled on pretty any machine, it will cause ~40% performance loss (depend on your hardware).
Hardened malloc will cause you other compatibility problems and performance loss.
A lot of unix-stile workflow that programs expect to find doesnt work (cause security hardening all over the place) and, especially if you are a newbie, solve them would be really hard (newbie shouldnt be concernerd about usernamespaces and virtual environments...).
Secureblue its a VERY nice distro, but I see it as an experimentation with security for the linux desktop.
If you are a newbie, come from windows/macos, dont have particular security concerns for your workflow, and just expect something that works (even better that mainstream os most of the time) I'll suggest linux mint or omarchy linux (depend on "who" you are and "what" you want).

Happy Sunday🙏❤
Jesus Christ saved my life. Everyday I try to learn from him, to love like he loves me. He is the only one that always give me a second chance, and every single day my life is a little better, cause I have the possibility to learn something new from him, to learn a little of The Truth he give us.
I was atheist (better, I was "not-interested to spirituality") for a lot of years of my life, and I ruined a lot of things. Then he reached me and saved me. All the glory to Him🙏

I agree, but today is still a WIP. No people around me are on nostr, so here there's not an extension of my social graph, but a collection of new strangers I knew here. I'm grateful for everyone of you here, but this doesnt fulfill the "social network intention" at all, is a niche pseudo-anon internet room, like a "specialistic forum", something like that.
Hopefully (open platforms based on) nostr will be popular and widespread, this will change everything and will fix this "social dilemma", and free the social graph over the internet at the own personal subjects terms.

2026-09-17 13:02:41 UTC

socials are bad, but the idea behind social network was good: extend the possibility to connect to people using internet, breaking the physical local barriers, on your own terms.
This is why nostr.
Today with social platforms you are forced to choose to rent this possibility to bad people who will try to hack you with all their forces to make you miserable and slave;
or give up on (most of) the possibility of internet-enanched sociality; keeping your social graph entirely offline, in the old way, limiting the possibility to discovery new perspective from all around the word.
Sincerely, in this situation I prefer the second alternative: traditional social platforms are so bad in connecting people that I feel better and "more connected" simply disconnecting from them.
But there is a piece of the cake I'm missing, every human today is forced to choose and everyone is missing something, everyone differently with his peculiar situation.
Nostr is still the best shot we have to fix that.

user namespace is really a cool concept in #linux, basically an elegant way to permit to user processes to mount an entire filesystem where they can act as root.
It is used in containers and browser sandboxes, to effectively isolate processes.
But there are problems here: now, when user namespaces is activated in the kernel, ANY user process (so any random app) can access a gigantic amout of functions and kernel calls that was intended to be ran from a root user.
These functions have bugs.
These bugs wasnt a security threat before, because if you are already root and you are invoking a kernel function to trigger a bug that makes the kernel crash.... Well, you was already root.
The process that invoked the function was already in total control of the machine, so the bug was basically useless for hackers to use in a chain of exploits.
Now, with user namespaces, a user process can invoke these functions to trigger the bugs to crash the kernel or whatelse: these bugs now are security threats.
Solutions?
Seems there isnt a better alternative to do this kind of sandboxing in linux, so the solutions are [fixing the bugs®] and restrict the capability of use user namespaces to a whitelist of trusted apps (like containers, browsers, flatpak, systemd-something, and apps that in the future will start using it....)

this is factual, things happening have no meanig unless you observe and project your expectations into it. So if something is good, bad, unfair, hard, and so on, you are already projecting your thoughts into it, so it is "happening for a reason" or, in other words, you are already started the coscient process of extracting events from chaos and projecting meaning trought it.
