I also think hes wrong, niche audience are a big part of what makes us fulfilled as individual. The big-brother-social-media-audience cant replace the interactions with my family, my girlfriend, my little group of friend, and, in the end, the little digitals and phisical niches I organically selected to talk to various nerdy topic. There is nothing more miserable that sacrifice some of that "little groups" for the retarded global feed interactions.
