I love my fountain pens, but yes, there’s something to be said about writing in pencil. Somehow I’m more fluid with the latter, with less worry about making a mistake. Physically there’s less drag on the page, too, especially compared to the EF pen nibs I tend to favour.
Check out Vlad’s Timeline system. I like how the writing is continuous, with a thin sidebar for classifiers.

Ink suggestions, please
I'm looking for an everyday #fountainpen ink colour for my Hobonichi. It needs to be dark enough to be easily legible, and light enough to not ghost on Tomoe River paper as much as black and deep navy do.
No yellows, oranges, or dull greys, please. Subtle shades only. I'm thinking something in the blues or dusky purples would be nice. I'll be using an EF nib.

@npub10vt…xctq reminded me of my complicated relationship with Moleskine notebooks just now. .
The form factor still warms my heart, but now that fountain pens are my thing I’ve had to leave the MSK on the shelf.
Currently enjoying the compact A6 versions of the Stálogy and Hobonichi notebooks with my Hongdian Black Forest EF, all of which live in my new Orbitkey EDC. The Bellroy is taking a well earned break. I

I heard recently that young people of today (under 30) have trouble reading linked handwriting, or cursive. Is that true? Some have reported scarcely being able to read it at all, which I find hard to believe.
I do my lower case d's like a reversed number 6, and my r's can be normal or old style.
What do you think, oh young person reading this? Can you read my handwriting easily, or is it a bit of a guessing game? (poll in the comments)

The Pilot Kakuno is a surprisingly good fountain pen to write with for the price. This is the F, on regular office 100 gsm paper folded to A7. More on the cheap but good writing instruments I’m using in the next #ptpl post.

My precious baby grandson lived for 11 short days. We are devastated, but so very thankful we got to stroke his tiny head and say au revoir — till we meet again!

For the first time since getting my first email address in the late 90s, I am consistently at inbox zero! Feels amazing, like I am the Superwoman of email right now.
Thank you to Carl Pullein for clarifying the process and making it feel doable. The teachers were always there, perhaps, but until recently this student was not ready.

#Gardening in someone else’s garden is more fun than in my own. Doesn’t hurt that here in #Victoria there isn’t the immediate threat of leaches, funnel web spiders, and venomous snakes that we have in #NSW!
We don’t dig in the backyard without covered limbs, sturdy shoes, and several glass jars to catch the funnel webs (and drop them off for milking later).

Thank you for the info, I didn’t know that. I’m still leaning toward the Siupernote. They have an Aussie distributor, and I very much like the idea of a user-replaceable battery and pen nib that doesn’t need replacing.

Leaving these notes in an #app that doesn't give you control over your data is like leaving money—that's not backed by precious metals—in the bank.
Both could be frozen, or disappear, at any moment. No, that's not scaremongering. If you think locked-in notes data and #CBDC sound awesome, I'd invite you to explore the definition of true #freedom.
If you must use a locked-in app, you'd better have a robust #backup system in place. #obsidian
