Is anyone successfully running #openclaw with the maple-proxy by @nprofile…0qzz for a private AI assistant? I deployed the docker container on my openclaw VM but sadly every couple of prompts I get back "null" or a json-formatted reply. No idea why, as other times it works fine. But with how often I get null replies, it is unusable as an agent with multi-step tasks. Tried with kimi-2.5.
If anyone is using a similar setup, I would be happy to hear!

If the relay server operator also operates the ecash mint then trust is not an issue. You need to trust the relay anyways to forward and store your messages in exchange for the token. Be it on a blockchain or as ecash.

If you store "spam" in RAM until it gets mined you avoid having to redownload and cryptographically verify the "spam" tx once it gets mined into a block or it is broadcasted to you by another node. That saves both bandwidth for downloading and CPU for verifying.
I would not agree that disk space is abundant. You can get by with just 300MB RAM for an unfiltered Mempool and don't have to upgrade RAM however many noderunners will soon have to upgrade from a 1TB SSD to a 2TB one which is a cost factor and also implies manual effort and downtime.

Signing messages or files GPG style without publishing to relays would be a great nostr feature for me. GPG signatures get the job done, but the social trust behind nostr keys is so much better than GPG's web of trust.

It uses p2p wireguard tunnels to reach your homeserver from on the go and can optionally relay encrypted traffic so that you won't have to do any port forwarding.
It's very easy to configure and just straight up works every. single. time.

Interessantes Video. Ich finde es wichtig neue Player wie firefish kritisch zu hinterfragen.
Dass sie im Darlehensvertrag die Eigentumsrechte an sich selber übertragen, war mich nicht bekannt und auch der Mangel an open-source Software ist zu bemängeln.
In dem Video unterläuft dem Autor @nprofile…fka6 aber ein bedeutender Fehler, der den Hauptpunkt entkräftet: Es wird behauptet, dass das Collateral in einem 2von3 MultiSig zwischen dem Kreditnehmer und zwei Entitäten von Firefish liegt.
In der Tat liegen die Coins aber in einem 3von3 MultiSig (Quelle: https://docs.firefish.io/firefish-protocol ). Somit ist firefish nie in einer Situation, dass sie eine Signatur Quorum erreichen und beliebige Transaktionen signieren könnten. Dafür ist immer der temporäre dritte Schlüssel des Kreditnehmers notwendig.
Das der Kreditnehmer seinen Schlüssel nach dem Setup verwirft, ist auch nicht weiter schlimm, da zu Beginn bereits alle möglichen Outcomes mit PSBTs abgebildet werden. Entweder gehen die Coins an den Liquidierer, wenn der Kredit nicht rechtzeitig zurück gezahlt wurde, oder sie gehen an den Kreditnehmer zurück.
Der Kreditnehmer kann sich in seinem Portal sogar die timelocked PSBT herunterladen, die ihm nach Ablauf des Kreditvertrages (+ n Tage) sein Collateral zurück überweist. Das ist sinnvoll, falls während der Kreditlaufzeit Firefish pleite geht oder seine Schlüssel verliert. Diese PSBT kann man zB im Sparrow importieren und sehen, an welche Adresse (seine vorher angegebene Auszahladresse) wann ausgezahlt wird.

Habe vor kurzem meine Karte von der #Zitadelle2024 aktiviert und damit erfolgreich gezahlt. Zum Einrichten habe ich diese App auf Android genutzt (https://github.com/boltcard/bolt-nfc-android-app) und meine eigene LNbits Instanz hinterlegt. Man kann im Grunde auch jede öffentliche LNbits Instanz nutzen, solange der Betreiber das Boltcard Plugin installiert hat und die Instanz über Clearnet erreichbar ist.

Companies selling pre-flashed GrapheneOS devices tend to overstate the security guarantees and might not educate properly. Flashing GrapheneOS is soo easy, even for non-technical people, I don't really see the point in not doing it yourself.
Plus they might flash modified GOS and become the next Encrochat.

They forward your encrypted VPN traffic over their servers onto Mullvad servers. They themselves can't decrypt the traffic, because it is encrypted using the wireguard to the public key of the mullvad exit node (verifiably). They also handle the mullvad subscription for you so you don't leave any data with mullvad. Basically mullvad sees your traffic, but not your originating IP address or PII and Obscura sees your originating IP, PII but never what traffic you send through the wireguard tunnel (except total bandwidth and rough shape).

The prescription event does not take up much storage and could probably be compressed and printed out as a QR and handed to the patient.
Or saved as a file on his phone/health insurance smart card.
To avoid double spends of the prescription, the optician or pharmacist could comment "dispensed" under the prescription event and publish to as many relays as he likes. Or better yet: publish an event of a new kind with the "dispensed" or "partially dispensed" tag and the prescription's event ID. That way the original prescription event never has to be published and patient data remains private.
But before dispensing the optician/pharmacist could look up the prescription's note ID for any dispensed events on any relay.
Double spends of drug prescription would be fixed, patient data never leaves the patients phone/health insurance card and could even work offline (except for the double spend protection if the pharmacist is offline too).

You are correct, I don't own any real estate and don't live in the same jurisdiction as you do.
I am not against using cryptography to make documents such as the deed to a house forgery proof. But there is no need to store that record in a globally decentralized public blockchain. You can have a cryptographically signed certificate stating ownership and have that as a small text file on government servers, S3, your drivers license's chip or encoded into a QR Code and framed in your bathroom.

I respectfully disagree. Personally I haven't found any use of Blockchain technology, that Bitcoin does not do.
Deeds to houses don't need to become an NFT and shouldn't. What if I lose the private key to my "house ownership NFT"? Whose house is it now? Do I have to move out? For real estate the ledger tracking ownership can be centrally in the hands of the entity that provides you with property rights to that house. So basically the state. If the state does not approve of you selling the house, the sole transfer of that NFT will not be enough.
Putting real-world assets on the blockchain does not work, as there is no trustless link between real world asset and the blockchain. If the house burns down, who writes that to the blockchain?
Only real world asset that can provably be put on the blockchain is computing power through PoW.
In my opinion blockchain is good for digital money and timestamping of files/information.
And even if you want to mint an NFT for your house, you can do that on the Bitcoin blockchain and don't need "crypto".

Impressive writeup! A bit shocking that Signal does not take this more seriously. Basically it allows a whistleblower to be pinpointed to city-level in many places.
And to say they never intended to hide this kind of data between two parties is contrary to their "relay call" feature that has been there for years to not leak your IP address to your call partner in p2p calls.
I also don't get why Signal attachments in private chats need to be hosted on a CDN with caching: they are basically only downloaded once by one person and deleted after that. So why not simply run one or two servers for attachments per continent. Is so much bandwidth saving achieved through local caching?

I understand the advantage of connecting a device that does not normally allow VPN connections. But on a modern pixel you could just use mobile data and a wireguard VPN with killswitch. Then allow tethering and connect other devices to that hotspot. I don't suppose Android routes hotspot clients' traffic over the active VPN?

Zwei Punkte dich ich schon mal entschärfen kann:
1) Niemand kann eine Transaktion ablehnen, erst recht nicht, bevor sie im Mempool auftaucht. Bevor sie im Mempool ist, weiß niemand außer dem Absender, dass diese Transaktion existiert.
Theoretisch könnten aber offizielle Akzeptanzstellen dann sagen: "Geld ist angenommen, aber verbuchen wir nicht, weil ist blacklisted."
2) Das Lightning Netzwerk kennt keine Adressen. Da gibt es nichts zum blacklisten, da der Empfänger nicht mal weiß, woher die Zahlung kommt. Im Grunde schicke ich als Absender auch nicht direkt Sats an den Empfänger, sondern ich bezahle den Betreiber einer Node, die direkt mit dem Empfänger verbunden ist, damit dieser mit seinen Sats den Empfänger bezahlt.

I an kind of unhappy with the camera app on #GrapheneOS I am using on my Pixel phone. I tried the stock camera app as well as Open Camera. The images come out lacking in colors and clarity compared to what my older iPhone can do.
5k sat zap for he who can recommended me a FOSS camera app or settings that make my photos look better than they do now.
Seriously considering installing the Google camera app sandboxed.

Kauft euch eine Domain für eure E-Mail!
Eine eigene Domain für eure E-Mail Adresse hat viele Vorteile: Ihr könnt euch beliebig viele Adressen erstellen und vorname@nachname.de sieht professioneller aus als v.nachname87@gmail.com
Wenn ihr vorhabt einen eigenen E-Mail Server zu betreiben, braucht ihr zwingend eine eigene Domain für den Server. Aber auch, wenn ihr eure E-Mail lieber hosten lasst, zB bei ProtonMail, ist eine eigene Domain ein Gamechanger! Denn dies ist eure permanente, Anbieter-unabhängige Identität und ihr könnt jetzt jederzeit von einem Mail Provider zum nächsten wechseln, ohne dass ihr eine neue E-Mail Adresse habt und an Kontakte weitergeben müsst.
Sollte euer bisheriger Provider die Preise anheben, oder negativ in die Presse erscheint, könnt ihr jetzt viel einfacher zu einem neuen Host umziehen (theoretisch auch auf einen eigenen Server). Das reduziert maßgeblich die "Kosten" für einen Anbieterwechsel und gibt einiges an Souveränität über eure Daten und eure Identität.

Einen Server in einem professionellem Rechenzentrum an zu mieten macht es bestimmt deutlich einfacher nen Mailserver zu betreiben. Bessere Uptime, feste IPv4 selbstverständlich, IP Adresse kann einfach gewechselt werden, sollte die blacklisted sein und reverse DNS Einträge sind schnell angelegt.
Mir geht es beim Self-hosting aber darum maximale Kontrolle über meine Daten zu haben. Und da ist die physische Kontrolle über die Hardware für mich schon ein Vorteil.
Zudem habe ich sowieso den Server im Keller stehen und einen Internet Vertrag mit fester IPv4.
Somit spare ich mir die Kosten für den VPS.
Hätte ich das nicht, wäre ein VPS wahrscheinlich die bessere Wahl. Wobei Mailcow im speziellen mit 6GB RAM schon recht hohe Anforderungen stellt.
Wenn Fremde (zB Hetzner) auf den Server Zugriff hätten, dann wäre man aber vielleicht auch mit einem Datenschutz respektierenden E-Mail Provider wie ProtonMail oder Posteo günstiger unterwegs.
Da lernt man dann natürlich nichts über den Betriebe eines Mailservers. Ist ja schon ein Hobby 😉

Ich habe #Tailscale viel zu lange ignoriert musste ich an diesem Wochenende feststellen:
Bisher war ich sehr zufrieden mit meinem Setup bei dem ein Wireguard Server direkt auf meinem Router lief und ich somit jederzeit von außerhalb eine verschlüsselte Verbindung aufbauen und Dienste im Heimnetzwerk erreichen konnte.
Ein Software Update auf meinem Router hat mir aber kürzlich diese Wireguard Konfiguration zerschossen und jetzt musste ich das erneut aufbauen. Bei der Gelegenheit habe ich mir dann Tailscale und andere Overlay Networks wie Zerotier und Twingate angeschaut.
Schließlich habe ich mich für Tailscale entschlossen, weil die Clients open source sind und es auch eine Option gibt den Koordinierungsserver selbst zu hosten mit #Headscale.
Für Privatnutzer übernimmt Tailscale gerne die Koordinierung gratis, aber das passt mir nicht, wenn ein fremder Server entscheidet, wer eine Verbindung in mein Heimnetz aufbauen darf.
Im Vergleich zum normalen Wireguard VPN Netzwerk überzeugt mich das einfache Setup und die filigrane Einstellung der Zugriffsberechtigungen. Mit dem Exit Node Feature von Tailscale kann ich ein beliebiges Gerät in meinem Netz als Exit Node setzen und jeden Traffic darüber routen.
Das erlaubt es mir jetzt endlich auch mit nur einer VPN Verbindung auf dem Handy von unterwegs all meine Dienste im Heimnetz zu erreichen und den anderen Traffic über eine VM zuhause ins Mullvad Netz zu leiten und somit anonym zu surfen.
Leichte Einbußen bei der Netzwerk performance muss man natürlich hinnehmen. Am besten einen günstigen VPS mit guter Anbindung mieten, der nur das macht.
Werde mich jetzt noch ein bisschen in die optimale Konfiguration von Tailscale mit Benutzerrechten und ACLs rein fuchsen und dann bin ich sehr optimistisch, dass ich damit lange gut fahren werde.

Dieser Artikel hat mich zum ersten Mal realisieren lassen, dass das Internet Archiv ein wichtiges Werkzeug in der Politik sein kann.
Damit können wir im Nachhinein uns die Berichterstattung der Medien/öffentlichen Stellen zur Corona Pandemie und etwaigen Impfungen anschauen, wie sie damals veröffentlicht wurden.
Einiges wurde im Laufe der Zeit umgeschrieben und jetzt wird einem erzählt: "Die Impfung sollte doch nur die Intensivstationen entlasten. Niemand hat gesagt, dass sie 98% effektiv gegen Ansteckung und Übertragung sind..."
Auch bei anderen gesellschaftlichen und politischen Themen ist hilfreich, sich die damaligen Aussagen nochmal vorzunehmen.
Leider kein V4V Tag dabei. Würde so gerne den Artikel schnell und datensparend unterstützen...

Würde sagen das kommt etwa aufs gleiche hinaus. Beides basiert auf Docker und bringt eine Full-Suite mit allen nötigen Tools mit. Mailu hatte ich vorher nicht auf dem Schirm.
iRedMail und mail-in-a-box sind weitere Optionen ohne Docker.

Nachdem ich letztes Jahr von meinem vorherigen, langjährigen E-Mail Provider zu #ProtonMail gewechselt bin, habe ich im zweiten Halbjahr diesen Jahres das Thema #E-Mail #selfhosting nochmal angegriffen und bin jetzt mit dem #mailcow Stack zufrieden.
Noch cooler als die Mails verschlüsselt bei ProtonMail in der Schweiz liegen zu haben, ist seinen eigenen Mailserver im Haus daheim zu haben.
Mailcow bietet in einer VM alles, was man sich zum Thema E-Mail wünschen kann und ich bin sehr zufrieden. Bisher kommen alle Mails von mir auch am Ziel an, dank statischer IPv4 und dem Thema DMARC,DKIM,SPF. Diese drei Begriffe haben mich einiges an Nerven gekostet und sind der Hauptgrund, warum es so lange gedauert hat für mich. Aber einmal gut eingerichtet freue ich mich jetzt all meinen Mail Traffic lokal zu hosten.
Ein wenig gruselig ist es aber schon, weil mein Heimserver nun immer wichtigere Aufgaben hat und ein Ausfall im Urlaub fatale Konsequenzen haben könnte (Boarding Pass für Rückflug kommt per Mail nicht an). Aber mit dem Druck kann ich leben und muss bis zum nächsten Urlaub dafür sorgen, dass der Server so ausfallsicher wie möglich läuft und mir ein paar Notfallpläne und remote management überlegen ;-)
Hostet hier noch jemand seinen Mailserver selbst und hat Erfahrungsberichte? Auf Reddit habe ich oft gelesen, dass es ein Albtraum sein soll, aber ich bin soweit sehr optimistisch.

So what do you propose? Targeted ads like we so today, micropayments via PayPal? Lightning is the best solution we have today for that use case. I can put a KYCed UTXO into a ecash mint and the state does not know what payments I make using that ecash.
Pretty much the same is true for a self custodial lightning channel. Sure, I at one point owned that amount of sats, but no one knows what I paid for. I can also receive payments in the meantime and use that lightning channel to facilitate payments for friends in amounts exceeding what was once the KYCed UTXO size.

Du kannst auch bei einer Drittpartei Mullvad Gutscheine mit Lightning kaufen. Leider nicht einzelne Monate meist. https://vpn.sovereign.engineering

1. IVPN (günstig, wenn du nur 2 Geräte brauchst)
2. Mullvad (Super All Round)
3. ProtonVPN (evtl günstig, wenn man auch andere Proton Dienste abonniert und viele Geräte absichern möchte.

Saw the same documentary as you this morning! Amazing that around 20 thousand tons (IIRC) of potassium are carried by the winds from Africa to the Amazon rain forrest and act as a fertilizer there.
