it is a travesty. Family have lived there for 25 years and I hate going there. Such a wasted opportunity.
The best way forward for traffic is to toll the road to chch and use the proceeds to fund a free/cheap train multiple times per day.

Winston Peters is “concerned”.
Fuck being concerned. Withdraw from 5-eyes and put sanctions on the US exactly the same as you would if any other country had committed this act of aggression that breaks international law.
Right now it looks as though you don’t care about rules based order and rather more concerned about being on the same side as the biggest bully.

Sunday I was back at a friends #restoration project. They purchased a 22Ha forestry block that was logged last year with the intention of restoring it back to native forest.
We’ve been setting up plots and doing baseline #biodiversity surveys so they can track progress. Being ex-forestry brings challenges and benefits so it will be interesting to watch over the long term.
It’s steep land so it’s hard work but has amazing views.

Super busy weekend.
Our #communitygarden had the last working bee of the year and then a Christmas lunch. It was great to catch up with some@folks I hadn’t seen for a while.
Afterwards I spent a couple of hours trying to wrangle my garden into some semblance of order. Its way tidier now but I need to get back and plant some summer vegetables.

I feel like there needs to be some repercussions for ministers who ignore official advice and cause long term harm.
You ignored experts and ran pro corporate policies to delay climate action. It’s now +2deg so we’re taking all of your wealth and anything your family inherited from you.
Same goes for fossil fuel execs.

yes I’ve used the seeds in cooking it never thought to sprout them. Do you need specialist sprouting seed or just use what you can buy at a bulk store?

I’ve never tried to sprout fenugreek. I’ll give it a go.

States have failed us with their dogged refusal to turn away from neoliberalism. All future generations will pay for a few billionaire to get even richer today.

I let a couple of carrots go to seed in the garden. The number of insects and arachnids that have found a home in them is amazing.

So I had a plan to lure friends and family to the #fediverse. I have a #friendica account I set up a couple of years ago as a replacement for FB. But I never really got around to using it much.
My plan was to post personal posts to the account and use the email feature to send it to f&f.
Unfortunately Friendica doesn’t seem to send the post images or a link to the original post. It may have been my privacy settings, but does anyone have any tips?

I get that corporations and plastic companies are ghouls that will do anything to rebrand plastic and sell more fossil fuels, but there are people out there making genuine plant based alternatives.
But also, the first and best option is to not buy anything unless you need it.

Communication is absolutely important. But as you suggest can be draining.

this is interesting and not entirely surprising. I have some thoughts.
The assessment that “The Dems made a serious error moving right, appealing to so-called moderate Republicans” is 100% right. And Labour makes the same mistake of moving to the right to pander to centrists and ignore workers. But at least in Aotearoa we have options to the left of them.
I guess punishing the Dems (labour) may explain some voting. Likely explains the low turnout for the Dems at least.
The conspiracy theory side is a major problem. I have a few pakeha friends who have gone down that well and it is not possible to get them out. They choose to be misinformed and surround themselves with people who reinforce their beliefs. Especially in their church, spiritual group or sometimes self help/alt-health internet groups.
All that is to say I don’t think it’s possible for the Dems (or Labour) to counteract the conspiracy theory issue.

Nice weather over the weekend (despite the forecast) gave us a productive couple of days in the garden.
Mowing lawns, weeding, planting vegetables as well as a blackberry vine and a grape.
I only had a short time at the community garden so will have to go one afternoon after work this week.
