OK, so this might sound a little bit mad, but asking firmly but politely if I can please have my keys/scissors/purse back now, and then going away to another room for a few minutes seems to make things reappear more quickly.
I'm sure there is a sound psychological reason for this, but I prefer to think that the pixies just like to be acknowledged every once in a while.

Blimey! Must be very fine yarn. Mines 4ply but attempting filet which uses smaller hooks than usual to keep the stitches tight and well defined. I have a box of fimo knocking around somewhere, so going to try making some grippy handles tonight after work.

This colour is instant happiness for me! I wish I could wear it, but it makes me look a bit ill, so I used it to paint a wall in my office instead.
How tiny are the tiny hooks? I tried starting something on 2mms last night, and quickly gave up! Might try again if I can find a 2mm with a nice grippy handle though.

Personally, I do not read news, commentary or interviews with any of the musicians I like for precisely this reason. I can enjoy the music and remain blissfully ignorant if the musician turns out to be a dick head!

I mean this kindly, but I think you might be overestimating your reach a bit. It is unlikely that 'most rush fanboys' have even heard of you, let alone hate you.
I know there's a group that pick on you on fb, but they are, IIRC, fewer than 50 people. That's only a very tiny minority of the rush fandom and you shouldn't let them put you off doing something you'll enjoy.

Loving your country doesn't have to mean liking and accepting everything about it. You can love your country and want it to improve. Some people would say that is a better type of patriotism than just blindly supporting everything your country does.
You are also free to stop doing things you were raised to do if you find they don't align with your adult values. Plenty adults choose to leave religions they were raised to believe in.

If the base had corners, I'd start by putting pins in to mark the corners on the base and the corresponding points on the tube. Then the midpoints between the corners, then the midpoints between the midpoints... line up the base pins with the tube pins and sew it all together.
I have no idea if this is the correct technique, it's just what I do.

Didn't witness it but heard about it afterwards. Introductions at beginning of meeting everyone was asked to state name, pronouns and favourite fruit. Friend said'Hi, I'm Amy and I like pineapples' followed by a death stare at the person who suggested including pronouns. This gave everyone else permission to not give their pronouns. Several looked quite relieved and most of them just said names and fruit after that. Could have backfired but luckily didn't.
Could you have a very strict agenda for the meeting that leaves no room for discussions about gender identity?

Good luck! It all sounds very stressful. I have once taken a cat to the vet in a drawstring bag after it refused to get in the carrier. Cat was, understandably, not very happy.

Finished the bag and added a lining made from an old pillow case. Never added a lining to knitting or crochet before so didn't have high hopes. Turned out to be a lot easier than I'd thought! Can't do the handles tonight so already eyeing the stash and wondering if there's enough there for a second bag.

Crocheting a bag to use up all my scraps of cotton yarn. I like how it's looking so far, but not sure what to do about the handles. One long strap would be more comfortable to carry but would probably distort the shape of the bag a little. Shorter ones might look better but less comfy to carry.
I also have a length of crocheted paper chain somewhere that I made with the same colours. Tempted to try incorporating that into the handles somehow, but not sure if that would be overkill.

Just had a call from the dog shelter. They are sending someone out to do a home inspection/check we aren't nut jobs. If we pass, we'll be able to start fostering dogs who are waiting for adoption. I get the impression they are quite desperate as I suggested next week for the inspection but they were very keen to come sooner. Settled on Saturday as a compromise, so I have 4 1/2 days to knock my hovel into shape!

I honestly don't even know what my go-to heel is called. It involves short rows and lots of wrapping and turning. The only reason I use it is because out of all the ones I've tried, it's the only one I can do without looking at the instructions!
Sockmatician has instructions on rav for adding teeny cables to flap heels, and I've been meaning to try it for ages.

A lot of the 'start by lying on the floor' exercises can also be done lying on a bed. That wouldn't help with the fatigue part though.

Almost every night, yes. Been doing that for over a year. My back is a bit screwed due to an old injury. A stranger saw me doing all kinds of weird movements trying to decrease the pain while I was queueing in aldi and told me to try dead bugs. I did, and felt better within a week. When I stopped, the pain came back so now I do them fairly religiously.
My main motivation is that I don't want to have to get seated tickets when I go to gigs! Standing still for any length of time used to be really painful.

Thanks. Have so far managed to keep up with doing a little nearly every day. Wonky shoulder is feeling better, and carrying shopping is getting a little easier, so its working. Also doing dead bugs every night and considering adding ankle weights now that they are starting to feel easy.

Do you remember a few years ago someone on Spinster was talking about setting up an 'alternative' boarding school? The accommodation was going to be very basic, possibly camping, and the teachers were all going to be sworn virgins. She came here for feedback, which was unsurprisingly negative, and then disappeared? I imagine her school to be a cross between this and Midsommar!
I really hope someone else remembers this, because it was so flipping bizarre.

There's something very dystopian about having healthy people give away organs, just to increase their loved ones' chances of getting a transplant.
I have heard of donor chains, where patient a's relative donates to patient b, and so on - so every family involved both gives and receives a kidney. I would donate under those circs if a loved one needed me to. But if I'm giving a kidney, my kid has to be definitely getting one, not just getting an improved probability of one.

It's OK. There's only 2 of us here, and as I don't drive or like ordering online, I usually do shopping in small installments throughout the week anyway.
Christmas is a bit tricky, but outside is about as cold as the fridge anyway, so can store veg / juice etc in a sealed box on the back step for a couple days before Christmas at a push.
Only time I miss having a larger one is if we get a heatwave and I can't stock up on ice lollies.

They don't look at the parents, either. My eldest was unusually tall: almost off the graph, since birth but average weight for her age. This was not at all surprising to me as that's exactly what her dad is like. Every single HV thought it was a problem though.
Funnily enough, my requests for suggestions on how to make her shorter were not well recieved!

Nonsense like this is why people start ignoring advice from health professionals. The years of pointless weighing and measuring as babies/toddlers is probably enough to ensure most parents are no longer listening to this BS advice by year 6.
I met plenty mums in mother and baby groups who had been told their babies were too heavy/too light/too long/too short by the health visitor, just because their stats didn't sit neatly in the middle of the graph. Even one who was told her toddler's head was too small; what the fuck was she supposed to do about that!? The kids all turned out fine, AFAIK, and the mums had mostly stopped worrying about growth charts by the time the kids started school.

Looks like hound has dementia. He's never been the world's cleverest dog, but his cognitive skills have taken a sharp dip lately. He understands that bedtime routine involves going outside, having a wee, getting on the bed and going to sleep, but the order of operations now eludes him. He goes outside, then comes in and wees on the floor, or worse, on my bed. There have been a few other signs as well. Off to the vets tomorrow to see what they say about it. Secretly hoping they will say it is all in my head and he is fine and will live another 30 years!

There's an ebay seller called classicalrose59 who does them at a decent price. You have to buy quite a few (usually 20 or 25) but it works out at just over £1 per mini, which is way cheaper than getting them from an indie dyer. I bought loads last year and did advents for myself and my mum.
If you want a surprise advent, you can get them delivered to my house and I'll put them in separate envelopes for you and then post them up.

I do a budget version. Buy a job lot of random minis on ebay, and get offspring to put them in numbered envelopes for me so that each day's yarn is a surprise. Works out loads cheaper than getting a 'real' one, and makes me just as happy.
