We love spinach in shoulder season. Plant in high tunnel in autumn after we pull tomatoes and peppers and harvest Jan-March with three feet of snow outside! No bugs at all that time of year and winter spinach is SO sweet! A bed or two grown this way lasts us all year and doesn’t take up valuable bed space during the normal growing season.

We have previously tested for pfas on our land and water which can up negative. But I doubt that would transfer to honey anyway

Golden are really nice too. We usually do either Boro or Red ace (red beet), golden and chioggia in roughly equal amounts.

We don’t treat our bees and they forage in an area without pesticide used within a huge radius due to protected wetlands.

Just received this AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL cutting board from @nprofile…5wn6 😻
The photos really don’t do it justice. This thing is absolutely gorgeous, and SO well made. Stunning wood grain, perfectly sanded and finished. High quality PoW right here, very proud to have it!
Only problem is it looks so nice I will have a hard time cutting on it for the first time! Can’t wait to use it though, perfect size for the kitchen.

As much as I try to orient my life to avoid using fiat to the maximum extent possible I am far from perfect! There is no right answer, it’s a personal journey of progress and we all make concessions when necessary along the way. Property taxes is one of the very few fiat bills I have not found a solution for myself.

How about peanuts? Paper clips? About 1000 different shitcoins? PayPal and Venmo can transfer value just as well, so why use Bitcoin at all then?
This argument sounds to me like Bitcoin is “just as good as fiat” because they can both represent a fairly equal value of something, not “Bitcoin is better money.”
I don’t buy that personally. What about the hidden costs of using fiat? Enriching credit card companies and banks vs. paying a few sats to a lightning node operator? Paying taxes to politicians and governments instead of using P2P permissionless uncensorable money. Every transaction is a vote for one system vs. another.
At some point we have to decide which side to orient our lives around. There’s no right answer. But if bitcoiners themselves don’t believe in all the things they preach like “sats are the standard”, “End the Fed”, “There is no second best” etc, then Bitcoin will not have much of a future.

Well said and echoes more or less my sentiments. It’s not for everyone, but if we as bitcoiners don’t actually fully believe in and embrace the bright future based on free economies and hard money we talk about— how can we expect the other 99% to ever catch on? Bitcoin is destined to fail if enough bitcoiners aren’t eventually able to fully commit.

We don’t advertise. Nostr only. It’s enough for us, we are a small producer of maple and honey and word of mouth / repeat customers is more than enough to sell all that we produce each season. We used to do farmers markets locally, but decided to go Bitcoin only a few years back and nostr opened up that door to make it viable.

Personally, our family gave up our fiat farm business two years ago, went #BitcoinOnly and never looked back. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Demanding to be paid in Bitcoin is what actually builds a circular economy and helps Bitcoin to grow and thrive. Accepting fiat for 99% of your tx and Bitcoin for a small minority does not carry the same weight. It’s the difference between a Bitcoin-based business and a business that accepts Bitcoin because they want more sales. Just imo, and my question was meant as an attack in any way.
But my initial question: why would you still accept fiat for your PoW if you believe Bitcoin is superior money?

Good to hear! Personally I don’t do much in the way of shilling and I think this does tend to have an effect. I always notice more sales when I go out of my way to post more often. I think you do a great job putting your PoW out there without being pushy, informing customers about what gives your wine value vs. the competition, etc. 🤙

People are definitely spending waaay less with lower exchange rates as their sats don’t go as far as they were used to before.
Strange though because in fiat terms, my prices are at nearly 50% discount from only a few months ago, but we are seeing very few sales comparatively!
When we first started out two years ago I listed products priced in sats roughly equivalent to what we sold the same goods in our local market. As price of Bitcoin increased, I adjusted price in sats down over time. However, as exchange rates have declined over the past few months we have not adjusted back in the other direction! As long as I can cover costs I am OK offering customers a deep discount and hodling the sats indefinitely.
Idk if this strategy works over long term, tbd!
