I’m not familiar on how the web of trust mechanism is being applied to #nostr relays. It seems like an interesting idea but my main concern would be to know by who and how the web of trust algorithm is determined. It seems it could ultimately act as a #censorship mechanism.
Obviously Nostr has to be able to handle spam attacks such as the #ReplyGuy but this shouldn’t be at the cost of losing its censorship resistant properties.
Another alternative worth exploring would be for each npub to prove that its owner isn’t a bot but a human through the use of #ProofOfPersonhood protocols such as #Idena, #Humanode or #Holonym. A PoP aggregator such as the #GitcoinPassport could also be an option.
Of course this would add some significant friction for users hence it’s preferable that an alternative method is found to handle spam. However, we should remain vigilant that the censorship resistant nature of Nostr remains unaffected. #note1vtu…97yu

One option to stop the spammers would be to require #Nostr users to authenticate their npub with a #ProofOfPersonhood protocol to prove that they aren’t a bot. There are solutions such as #GitcoinPassport that aggregate various PoP systems to make it less inconvenient for users to prove that they are a unique human.

The data collected in the face scan may not be stored in the same database/shared with the same parties. Also, each face scan can be used to refresh your biometrics. Personally, I don’t like the normalization of the used of biometrics and if there is a simple and convenient way for me to opt-out I don’t see a reason not to. It’s a no-brainer.

1) The fake mainstream narrative:
SarS-CoV-2 is a dangerous zoonotic virus that has no existing remedy so we all need to take an experimental #mRNA vaccine to save humanity.
2) The fake conspiratorial narrative:
Viruses don’t exist, people are getting sick because 5G towers.
3) The true authorized conspiratorial narrative:
SarS-CoV-2 is a virus conceived by gain-of-function research and intentionally released to push a tyrannical agenda and inject populations with experimental mRNA vaccines containing harmful spike proteins.
4) The true unauthorized conspiratorial narrative:
Self-assembling nanostructures tech from DARPA were contained in the #CovidVaccine either to harm humans and/or to test the effects of transhumanist technologies on a large scale.
1) is used to obstruct the truth to the majority of the population and get their compliance.

Wow! A peer reviewed paper just demonstrated that the #Covid19 Pfizer and Moderna vaccines produce self-assembling nanostructures when injected in the human body. Although it was known that similar technologies existed, I couldn’t really figure out to which extent the narrative related to the presence of self-assembling nanostructures was true. It still believe that the harm caused by the spike proteins is real but it looks like there had been something even more nefarious going on.
This brings a lot of questions:
What is the purpose of these structures?
To which extent are they harmful to humans?

The only argument #Bitcoin maxis have to justify favoring #BTC versus #XMR is price performance and I can’t disagree that it had been historically true but I think the momentum is shifting. The shutdown of Samouraï will be seen as a major turning point because Bitcoin has shown to be less attack-proof than #Monero in an adversarial environment. Monero price is showing a lot of resilience lately even though #crypto markets are dumping. I think XMRBTC pair will end up higher at the end of this cycle than at the start of it. Also, I have no doubt that the XMR drawdown will be less than the BTC one at the end of the next bear cycle.

I’m actually interested in understanding further the utility of the #NYM token. For what I remember from last research I’ve done on the project, the token is used to vote for the servers you want the traffic to be direct to. I think, it’s a fine concept but I’ve always been concerned by the large pre-mine supply distributed to the team and investors. Couldn’t those parties potentially collude and vote for servers that are dishonest? I like the concept of NYM but I feel the privacy assumptions of the service are dependent of how decentralized the token supply is and unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be very decentralized. How to waste a great idea and talents with poor tokenomics.

One attribute that #Monero lacks to make it a perfect medium of exchange is fast finality. Although this isn’t so much a problem for online transactions, it is definitely an issue for in-person transactions. As far as I understand this can’t be solved unless Monero switch to #ProofOfStake or at least to an hybrid #ProofOfWork / POS like #Zano did. Another example of hybrid POW/POS is #eCash which is a fork of #BitcoinCash (by the founding #BCH team). By mixing the #Nakamoto consensus with the #Avalanche consensus, eCash can reach sub three seconds finality while guaranteeing a the integrity of the chain history without the need of a trusted third party. Considering the fair launch of #XMR, it seems very possible for the Monero #blockchain to implement POS to its consensus without risking the chain from being corrupted.
What do you guys think are the pros and cons as well as the feasibility of the such an upgrade? It was a hot topic at the past #Monerotopia. The decision for the Zano team to move to POW/POS was mainly motivated for security reasons but from my perspective a greater benefit for Monero would be a much improve user experience for in-person transactions. By the way I don’t know if that’s a factor, but Zano has been a great performer price wise.

Maybe #Monero will need at some point to move to PoS consensus or at least an hybrid PoW/PoS system like #Zano has. The coin supply is probably well decentralized by now which would prevent any capture. Also, it could allow to improve finality times which is a bit of an issue for in-person transactions.

Based on historical price I can’t say that the « save #Bitcoin, spend #Monero » mantra doesn’t make sense but the more you spend Monero, the more compelling it is to have some savings in #XMR. 1. The addresses that hold #BlackRock BTC ETF are not known, so yes, fractional reserves could be run in this case. By your argument we could say that centralized exchanges without proof of reserves necessarily have full #BTC reserves which makes no sense.
2. IMO, it’s a naive view to think that BlackRock couldn’t in any way subsidize the miners he has invested in. Investment is already a form of subsidy. You’re referring to Bernie who is an individual who ran a Ponzi scheme. This is a totally different scenario.

That’s your interpretation that because node operators signal for one side that is the reason why this side has kept the ownership of the #Bitcoin brand but in reality the side that get to keep the brand is determined by a social consensus that goes beyond node operators and include the entire ecosystem including exchanges and miners. I’m not familiar with the political context in Sweden so I can’t address this point but yes, #Trump is demonized by the mockingbird media, I totally agree with this, however this contributes to the second layer of deception. People end up supporting Trump because he’s the victim of the mockingbird media and big tech but these relentless attacks aim to grow support for Trump. Why? The political landscape is certainly different in Europe where there are more than two parties so it’s not possible for the “deep state” to control all parties but certainly most of the historic main parties (left and right) are to some degree influenced by #DeepState assets. Also, most of the control is taking place within the EU institution which dictates policies to member states. The perspective of #Telegram being shut down is reminiscent of the wave of Twitter accounts that got banned (including mine). You invest a lot of time and effort building an audience and/or a curated list of sources to see those assets being taken away in an arbitrary manner. That’s why I’m on #nostr and invest most of my efforts on platforms/protocols that empower their users to be sovereign with their data. However, there is still a long way to go for those sovereign social services to be at features parity with their centralized counterparts. Only time will tell if we can get there one day.

#PavelDurov is facing 20 years in jail. I’m concerned that the outcome will be for #Telegram to be taken down. Telegram has been a major disruptor in providing access to uncensored information. Although, it is a centralized platform, its search features makes it possible to use Telegram as a powerful knowledge base. If Telegram was to be taken down, I personally would lose access to a tremendous library of information for which I frankly don’t have an alternative platform to turn to. This situation is extremely concerning for the future of free flow of information as decentralized protocols such as #nostr are nowhere near to be able to compete with Telegram as “knowledge database”.

It’s unbelievable to think that democrat opponents to #RFK have been trying to push the disingenuous narrative that #RFKjr was going to sell out to #Trump to later see #Shanahan floating the idea out of the blue that they are considering dropping out for Trump. It’s such an enormous mistake that it’s hard to believe that this is just a mistake. I bet that in the end, RFK won’t drop out for Trump but even if Shanahan/RFK back track these comments, the harm is already done and the credibility of RFK candidacy fully undermined. This is going to cost RFK a lot of votes no matter what. I don’t know to which extent this is possible but if Shanahan is not acting with malice then the best for the #Kennedy24 campaign is for her to resign from the VP role.

Also, I would add that I don’t think that #Bitcoin fix all the World’s problem like some maxis like to claim but it’s certainly different from the current monetary system because of the predictability and trustworthiness it offers in comparison to the current system. To be changed, Bitcoin needs to reach a social consensus which isn’t easy to be captured even though we can’t exclude this scenario to happen in the future if the Bitcoin mining industry continues to be consolidated in fewer hands. But so far it’s still better than the current system which is controlled by an ultra elite composed of a few individuals.

First, I would challenge the premise that Bitcoin has no physical parts. Bitcoin couldn’t exist without the infrastructure hosting its ledger. Maybe the physical components guaranteeing the existence of Bitcoin are distributed but Bitcoin isn’t fully immaterial. Second, even assuming that Bitcoin doesn’t match the definition of “being material”, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a utility. By this reasoning you could make the case that software because it’s not physical has no utility which is obviously false.

What convinced me that people shouldn’t care too much about what others think about themselves is seeing too many people taking the COVID jab for the only reason that the pressure exercised by the social group was too strong for them to take on.
