this is very sad and disappointing. I saw it unroll exactly like that in one of the dude I respected most and least expected to embrace this crap. He feels like "ai is like a beginner that I can teach and it will write code faster than I can do it, and most of the time its's actually good".
This feels like laziness to move your fingers over the keyboard. Like, wtf. If you hate boilerplate that much, save some templates, write or find useful libs, IDK, but do it yourself, ffs.

btw it works but is a totally "proprietary" format, when several standard formats (even in the python stdlib) will do the same with a much more standard format. Thats a relatively minor detail I agree.

the "but it works" is the exact poison that taints everything. Sure you saved time and have lots of good reasons to believe you're knowing what you do. This makes it addictive and there is a risk that you will loose interest about coding because a free tool will do it for you.
On my side, I'm not impressed that it works at all. I enjoy coding and wont delegate my pleasure to anyone, even if that means hobby projects take forever to get done.

i think it's also based on a dht. The problem of such systems is bootstrap, which happens automatically with a dht, whereas you need a list of remote systems, and you would need to ensure global connectivity of all peers so the search can actually reach its target with a finite number of jumps. Not easy but very interesting.

vtech is not remarkable for these pseudo laptops. But they create actually good toys for younger kids. They know exactly what kids like and efficiently deliver on this. But as soon as they can read and write, computer education of kids should proceed with educational games on actual devices. GCompris is a good step for input device handling, both on phones and desktop machines. 5yo did a beautiful house in minetest this afternoon, all alone, asking how to write block names she needed.

Yep CF sized looks enough for a spi flash, no need to go up to a 3.5 inch floppy.
I have this PCB design, it can host a 6x8 or 5x6 WSON SPI flash in the thickness of a SIM sized card, if the manufacturer accepts internal castellations (should be ok). You can then reuse sim sockets.

emulation is also very good for debugging. I've written an emulator for the 6809 myself, this is not a easy task. I still have some corner case bugs so many software doesnt work yet.

there is definitely room for interpretation and nuances here, and the limits are fuzzy. I was quite rigorous but there could be tolerances. It also all depends on what is the "goal" of the machine. If the goal is just programming, then anything executing code is probably fine. But I'm more a hardware guy, and the actual hardware executing the code has some relevance to me. I could totally like an actual z80 with a pi pico peripheral implementing usb/sdcard interfaces

there is *a lot* to be done in amateur digital comms. Examples:
-find hardware that can do high power, long range wifi over 13cm band without being proprietary ubiquity stuff. This is basically for the same use as AT&T long lines, but amateur. Long distance, wide bandwidth links for the 44/8 net.
-find a way to do moderate bandwidth local access on UHF. I started working on the si4463 but there are other chips.

yes. I believe they do that to be attractive to enterprise customers, and adoping nextcloud is a net positive. There is no ai plugin enabled by default.
However they could have chosen a data privacy stance instead of the current hype, and they did not. Just like mozilla.

the fdroid version does not even ask, fortunately. And you can still refuse some autorizations. I never use the playstore. Everything is either from fdroid, from a direct apk file, or not on my phone.

I have immense respect for krita as it's probably supported by the artists using it, and they know better what is critical for them. there are usable workaround for the moment, complex text support will probably come when the time is right. meanwhile it's good to know that the issues are logged somewhere.
