I am sure I remember “ The Sunday Times” in the UK printing articles in the 1970s about this. That and the diminishing availability of clean water for people to drink. Those two topics stuck in my mind. My Dad was a scientist and would speak of the risks, so we’ve known for decades.

Our local bird store recommended changing the water to sugar ratio in the food that we mix from 4 - 1 to 3 - 1. They say it'll help the hummers build their energy reserves in preparation for their migration. I have visions of hummingbirds on a sugar high !

I try to add descriptive alt-text to my pictures. I know that sometimes my descriptions could be better. Recently I have seen a number of toots where alt-text reads like “A picture by Fred Bloggs on August 01, 2024. May be an image of 1 person and text.”
May be an image ? You took the picture, you decided it was interesting enough to share, you could at least describe it for those who use alt-text.

Today is Sprout’s gotcha day. Six years ago today we adopted him from a local dog rescue. He’s a great dog, and was an adorable ball of fluff with shark teeth, this is him, on that day, about 8 weeks old. He had been helpng water the tomatoes so he was a bit damp.
