How to Mastodon:
1. Post things. Whatever you want. Hashtags can help, but they are entirely up to you.

I've read 45 books this year. I might get one more in before Wednesday, but then again I might not.
The ones that stick out to me right now are the three by Native American / Indigenous authors:
1. Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. A beautiful book about relating well to the land and future.
2. Take Us to Your Chief and Other Stories, by Drew Hayden Taylor. A collection of sci-fi short stories from a native perspective. Really enjoyable. I took it in within a day.
3. Becoming Kin, by Patty Krawec. This one is a lot of things, but sticks in my mind as a reframing of American history from a native perspective.

If you haven't done it, being the admin or moderator for a Fediverse instance is labor, y'all. Nothing about it is easy.
The lesson I'm taking away from the broader Fediverse's meltdown over the #fosstodon thing is that we need more and smaller instances. 200-300 active users is manageable for a small admin/mod team. More than that, and you're just asking for trouble.
Speaking of, are you tossing some $$/££/€€/equivalent to the team running the instance you're on?
And thank your admin/mod teams often. Maybe even see if they need a volunteer.

Dreaming about the world I want:
A bed under a roof with protection from the elements and access to a stocked kitchen for everyone.
Universal Healthcare. Everyone should have access to the technology that is available to keep us healthy and mobile and active in the world for as long as we can. Without consideration of cost.
The freedom and ability for everyone to travel and experience a place and people different from theirs. Even if that just means a bus trip to the other side of the county or railroad tracks.
Opportunity to learn based on one's interests and abilities and talents. Libraries, scools, coops, apprenticeships.

Like posts all the time.

I signed up for a new Pixelfed account.
It'll be mostly #cats and whatever wondrous thing I've found in #nature. Maybe some workout progress pics from time to time.

Moshidon suffers from the same problem as Feditext. They both rely on a third party app for notifications. I've not been able to get ntfy to work successfully.
This may be a me problem.
But even if it is, it's still a problem.

Trying out different Android Mastodon apps tonight. Remembered why I abandoned Feditext previously. I never could get notifications to work well only. That hasn't changed.
Also installed Tusky and Moshidon to give them a shot. Tusky was what I used first. Moshidon is new to me.
Haven't uninstalled Megalodon, though it is apparently no longer maintained. Alas.
Will see what sticks this go around. (Feditext is already uninstalled.)
