Flotilla's definitely not designed to be a reddit replacement, but if you're not set on the hierarchical comment trees, it does have lots of interesting content types (forum-like threads, articles, as well as chat). @nprofile…ejah is working on a interoperable forum thing that might be good. Anyway, I would join such a thing so let me know when it's set up (or if you want some help setting one up).

Flotilla 1.9.1 is out — this release is the first release in which I do not resent the clankers for helping me:
1. re-write welshman's app framework
2. migrate flotilla to the new version
3. fix many arcane and subtle bugs I would never have found
4. synchronize implementations across flotilla, zooid, caravel, and welshman
5. keep my documentation and skills up to date
The main highlight this time is the addition of long-form articles. I added this because they're really useful as a basis for a content library and pinned messages, which were added last release.
Also, it's worth mentioning that Welshman 0.9.0 (and 0.9.1) is out as well. This includes a complete re-write of the app framework to prevent mixing user data in the case of multiple logins. I also added @welshman/domain, which includes a very nice framework (inspired by applesauce's factories) for parsing, validating, and writing nostr events. For example:

Flotilla 1.9.0 is out — this release comes with a more gooey interface, a content library, a user directory, and many bugfixes and performance improvements.
The biggest feature though is the new in-app hosting panel. If you host a relay with Coracle Hosting, you'll be able to manage it from within Flotilla — and create new relays from within the app itself (web only for now).
Other changes:
* Fix nav safe are inset, qr code reactivity
* Performance optimizations for chat rooms
* Add hosting platform
* Add room invite links
* Improve audio/video calls

I read Malcolm Guite's "Galahad and the Grail" this weekend, and... wow, it was fantastic. It's my first substantial encounter with the Arthurian legends, and I can't believe what I've been missing. Arthur is integral to Western tradition, and is essential to understanding Lewis and Tolkien. I love how Guite's narrative absolutely LANDS on Christ and his passion. Plus, the poetry itself is really good.
